Dr. Joseph Martinez grew up in a small town in the middle of Rio Grande Valley in New Mexico. He began his college studies in mathematics and chemistry with an interest in the health sciences. After completing his junior year, he chose to enter Oregon Health Sciences University to pursue dental education. After receiving his Doctorate in Dental Medicine, Dr. Martinez accepted a commission as a Lieutenant in the Public Health Service. After his service, he was accepted in the Orthodontic residency program at Oregon Health Sciences University and after two years, completed his training in 1983.

Helping create beautiful smiles was always something that Dr. Martinez found fulfilling as he was going through dental school, so orthodontics was a perfect fit. He established his practice here in La Grande in 1983 as he had fallen in love with the area. His wife, Seglinda, is from La Grande. She loves to bake and craft in her free time. They have three grown children (two boys and one girl) that all live close by. They also have three younger children, a daughter who is a La Grande High School graduate and is getting ready to start college at Eastern Oregon University, and a younger son and daughter who both attend high school.

The family stays busy with various activities and are all very active in their church. They love to camp with family and enjoy traveling around the area. They are also big Disney fans! Dr. Martinez's hobbies include playing and collecting guitars and drums, and he has recently begun to take vocal lessons. He is involved with the Grande Ronde Symphony, Grande Ronde Community Choir, the Optimist Club, La Grande High School Boosters, and school activities.

Mandy is our office manager and has been with our office since 2017. One of things she loves about working here is seeing the patients' smile change with every visit and how excited they are when they finish treatment! She has lived in La Grande her whole life and loves being able to raise her four children (three boys and one girl), in such a family focused community. Outside of the office, you can find her at a ballfield or a gym watching her kids play sports (baseball, softball, basketball, football and volleyball!! Her family is busy!!) She also enjoys time with her family, doing yardwork and being in her garden, camping, fishing and being in the mountains.

Lisa joined our team in 2015 and brings 35 years of dental assisting experience. Lisa has lived in Union County for most of her life. A graduate of La Grande High School, she went on to Blue Mountain Community College where she received her dental assisting training. She loves being part of the individualized treatment every patient receives from Dr. Martinez. Watching a patient's confidence grow as their perfect smile emerges is something she especially loves about working here! Away from the office, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, crafting, photography, her flower garden and reading.

Angie joined our team in 2008, and brings 25 years dental experience with 10 years of that with oral surgery. She graduated from Union High School and then continued her education at Blue Mountain Community College where she completed the dental assisting program. She loves working with all of our patients and seeing their confidence grow as their treatment progresses. Outside of the office, Angie stays busy between her two children. Her daughter is a La Grande High School graduate and her son is currently in high school and a three-sport athlete, so that keeps her running! Other activities she enjoys are camping, boating, and hanging with family and friends!
