Outstanding experience! I had some failed dental repairs a few years ago and was referred to Dr. Scheffer to handle the extractions. Him and his staff were all amazing and handled it quickly and as painlessly as possible! Great folks!

Was rushed.. and brutal. No numbing gel before shooting 6 shots into the roof of my mouth. Decided to strong-arm pulling a bridge and 2 teeth ALL AT ONCE!! Then was aggravated that I slowed him down because I almost passed out due to the wrenching and pulling. No bedside manner whatsoever.

We had the worst experience at this place! The receptionist should consider a different line of work as speaking kindly to customers is not her forte. Please do better. Your patients should feel safe in your office, not humiliated and invalidated.

Clean office, friendly staff, skilled surgeon! I would highly recommend Dr. Sheffer for your oral surgery needs. He was very kind and advised me if the most cost effective options. Their office worked with my general dentist to create a care plan for me and took care of all the details so I could focus on recovery. The nurses and desk staff always have such a friendly disposition both on the phone and in person, they made me feel welcome and comfortable. 10/10

The staff and Dr Sheffer was outstanding! I am a coward and they treated me with compassion and outstanding care. The advice he gave me was spot on! Wisdom teeth on both sides ( in two visits) Thanks guys!

If you are someone who is generally nervous with dental procedures, do not go here! They were nice during my first visit, I was in and out of this office in less than an hour and a half with 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed. Yes, Sheffer is probably the fastest surgeon in the area, but that is not always a good thing. He was very rough during my surgery, which lead to a month longer recovery than it should have been. Also, they left dry socket gauze in my mouth after the first follow up, they told me the gauze fell out. After experiencing discomfort and a foul odor in my dry socket, I called and went for two more follow up appointments. Every time I went, they basically told me that I was not cleaning it good enough (they really did make it feel like I was nasty and it was all my fault), they were also rude and acted like I was bothering them every time I called. After my 4th follow up appointment and three weeks later, they finally realized they left the gauze in. They told me that I was lucky to be cleaning it so well, otherwise an infection would have formed and I would be hospitalized- due to their own negligence. Thanks for giving me faith in our dental healthcare system... NOT!

I'm guessing the people who are giving negative reviews come in with attitudes. I just had multiple extractions and removal of excess bone above the gum line in preparation for dentures. Dr. Sheffler and his awesome staff were wonderful, prompt and very informative throughout the process. Zero pain and little swelling with the prescriptions taken as directed on this, the day after my surgery. I would highly recommend Joplin Oral Surgery. Also, there was no "blaring Tru TV" at consultation or surgery. TV's are always on mute with captions on and soft music plays in background.

Top notch Dr. and staff. I had a very bad experience with another local Dentist on Monday. Friday of the same week they where able to get me in and fix what the other DR. messed up. Very friendly staff. They explained everything and answered all my questions in great detail. I will not go anywhere else in the Joplin area. Thank you to you all !

I needed to get another tooth implant and wanted to try a new doctor after having a dreadful experience with my first implant. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Sheffer at Joplin Oral Surgery and I am so glad I listened. Dr. Sheffer explained the procedure very well and the whole experience was as good as a tooth implant could be expected. From when I walked in the door Dr. Sheffer and the staff were professional and caring from beginning to end. Very little pain and the aftercare was explained very well and I had no trouble at all healing from the procedure. I definitely will go back if I ever need more serious dental work done.

Had my wisdom teeth out, one impacted. Less pain than expected and fast recovery. Could start eating solid foods within a couple days. Would recommend.
