Nickelsen Family Dental is under the the direction of Dr. Jon Nickelsen, who has been practicing dentistry for more than 13 years. He established Nickelsen Family Dental on the west side of Elgin where he was raised and where his father, Dr. Dale Nickelsen, practiced dentistry for more than 40 years.
Dr. Nickelsen volunteers his time to advance general, technical and scientific education in the field of dentistry. Currently serving as trustee for the Illinois State Dental Society, he also is past president of the Fox Valley Dental Society and maintains membership with the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society and Elgin Dental Study Club.
He has received numerous awards for his leadership in dentistry, including the American Student Dental Association Award of Excellence, the Omnicron Kappa Upsilon Research Award and the William J. Greek Memorial Leadership Award, which recognizes a new member of the Illinois State Dental Society who has demonstrated outstanding professional leadership.
Active in continuing his education and professional development, Dr. Nickelsen achieved certification as a Invisalign provider. His dedication to leadership and excellence allows him to provide quality care to his patients. He states, I am committed to providing the highest-quality care and excellent personalized service to the community that has served both me and my family for so many years.

Front desk communication is awful! Confirmed my appointment by phone and text only to show up and have them tell me I'm not on their schedule for the day. Didn't even try to fit me in. Didn't ask if I could return later in the week. Very poor communication skills. Looking for a new dentist!

We've been patients for about 8 years since we moved to the area. Dr. Nickelsen and his staff are great. We dropped our pediatric dentist and have switched our kids over to him also. My dentist scared child is no longer scared to go to the dentist. They always go above and beyond to fit in an emergency.

I have worked in the dental field with the same dentist for over 30 years who also did my dentistry. After he retired and I left, I had to find a new dentist. I chose Dr. Nickelsen because I knew of him through the industry and I trusted his work. He and his staff have proved that changing dentists can be a good thing. They are friendly and professional. Dr. Nickelsen did a great on my needed dental treatment. I would highly recommend him and his team for your dental care.

Jon Nickelsen is a great dentist. However, I cringe every I have to deal his front desk person. If you can get past her, then I recommend going to Dr. Nickelsen.

I am scared to death of dentist and usually have to take medication to get in the door. Not here,there is just this calmness. Doc is the sweetest so concerned if you are comfortable. They are not over the top and fake acting. Thank you all for taking great care of the scaredy cat. Oh and so excited to get my new partial without having to mortgage my home. Prices are fair

This is a hard review to write. My family were patients of this practice for almost 15 years. Dr. Nickelsen is the most patient, kind dentist that you could find out there! Truly! He has a heart of gold. He would go over and above for just about anyone. I saw it over the many years of seeing him. We have made the decision to leave the practice as he has made a horrible decision in his front office person who is driving people away from his practice. She is rude, nasty, does not know how to bill properly, causing me time and effort to take care of it for myself. She has made multiple inappropriate comments to my daughters, and also to myself. I have also had a meeting with the Dr. about it, and it did not get better trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but it did not. It is up to you, if you can get past the front lady or hope she is off, go for it. But, in my opinion, there are other practices out there that you don't have to deal with that, I found one. They are out there. Good luck!
