Dr. Daniel Hulme believes life is a gift; every day should be lived with gratitude and purpose. This life philosophy developed as Dr. Hulme (pronounced Hume, with a silent L) grew up a California native, raised in both Mountain View and Santa Barbara, enjoying the beauty of the ocean, mountains, and everything in between.

His outlook on life also carries over to his profession. Dr. Dan believes providing orthodontic treatment for his patients is more than just straightening teeth; its a calling for which he is profoundly grateful. He believes in helping people transform their lives by creating an artistic and beautiful smile designed just for them. He loves helping people discover more confidence, find greater appreciation for life and become the best version of themselves through the process of orthodontics.

Having treated several thousand patients over his near decade-long career, Dr. Dan brings a level of clinical experience that is unparalleled. His warm and cheerful personality helps patients feel relaxed and comfortable while he works to deliver spectacular smiles.

As a young boy growing up in Santa Barbara, Dr. Dan developed an exceptional talent for skateboarding and became sponsored by a local surf and skate shop. A little later, surfing took over as his sport of passion. Now that his family has become part of the Santa Cruz community, you might even spot Dr. Dan out in the water at one of your favorite surf spots!

Music was a big part of Dr. Hulmes young life. In addition to learning to play the piano, he was captain of the drumline in high school and attended Brigham Young University on a music scholarship for drumming. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physiology, then attended dental school in San Francisco at the distinguished UCSF program where he served as class vice president. Graduating near the top of his class, he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society. His extensive research on nerve injuries related to dental treatment was published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. After earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at UCSF, he completed a specialty orthodontic residency program at Columbia University in New York and earned a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics.

After residency, Dr. Hulme developed his orthodontic skills further by spending several years working at two very busy, yet different, practices. This unique experience was invaluable as it enriched and expanded what he had learned at Columbia, and gave him a thorough understanding of two different approaches to orthodontics. Now, with his treatment philosophy towards orthodontics more refined, Dr. Hulme is overjoyed to finally live and practice orthodontics in beautiful Santa Cruz.

In addition to surfing and skateboarding, Dr. Dan enjoys golfing, mountain biking, snowboarding, running, and living a dynamic, full life with his beautiful wife Diana, their energetic, 9-year-old son Oliver, and baby girl, Hazel.

Victoria says she most enjoys the support from and high morale of our entire team. She is a good joke teller and loves to laugh in and out of the office. She lives in Watsonville with her husband and their children Keiran and Amelia. They enjoy traveling whenever they have a chance. You might see Victoria and the kids hiking/biking through Nisene Marks or playing at the beach; their favorite local activities.

The minute you walk through the door of our office, you will be greeted by Carols cheerful smile. Carol joined our practice as our lead Scheduling Coordinator in January of 2000 and brings over 20 years of experience in dentistry and excellent patient care to her position. Carols background in dentistry makes her a perfect fit! Having had braces in our office as an adult, Carol helps you understand the benefits of orthodontics at any age.

Carol and her husband, Randy, have two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Lisa. Carol became a grandmother in 2015 to their grandson, Henry, and again in 2020 to their second grandson, Walker. Their family enjoys spending time together in the outdoors and exploring in their motorhome. Carol enjoys going on walks with her pug dog family, Tily, Rocco and Vader. One day, Carol hopes to foster dogs and place them in their forever homes.

Esmeralda joined our office in 2002 and has been in orthodontics since 2000. As one of our chairside assistants, she does a fantastic job making our patients feel welcome and quite at ease. Because of her outgoing personality, great smile and a wry sense of humor she blends perfectly into her role of working with many different patients throughout the day.

A warm and caring chairside assistant, Sally makes you comfortable the moment you sit down. She originally worked at Dr. Joiners practice in the mid-1990s and came back in 2004. Her smile and exuberant laugh make her an easy favorite among patients.

Sally lives in Aptos and enjoys being a mom to her two kids, Austin and Paige. Sally really enjoys spending time with her 2 grandsons and family! You can often find Sally on the golf course and enjoying the beach.

Monica joined our team in July of 2000. She works in our lab and clinic as a Laboratory and Sterilization Technician and as the chairside assistants assistant. Because of her thorough and careful attitude she is a great asset to our office.

Monica and her husband, Jose, have two awesome kids, Lesley and Raymond. Together, they love horse shows, walks on the beach, and the many celebrations that come with a big family. We are proud to have Monicas warm and charming personality on our outstanding team.

Rosa is our chairside assistant and overall team player when it comes to moving into new job positions. Like Sally, Rosa was on our team a few years ago (started in 1996), moved away, then came back and rejoined us in 2009!

Rosa enjoys spending time with her husband, step-son and many nieces and nephews. Together, they have fun, camping, going to the beach and movies. Rosa has a great work ethic, a fun sense of humor and a beautiful smile!

Rosie joined our team in June of 2019 as our youthful technology expert! We are thankful for her calm, amazing ability to work our 3-D printer, while diagnosing and fixing any issues that come her way. Before working in the lab, Rosie worked at the office in the summers making snow cones for patients.

Kerry is our chairside assistant and started working in orthodontics in 1970. She now works part time as our SureSmile expert getting patients prepared for their custom SureSmile wires which help our patients finish treatment with greater precision in less time.

Elinajoined our team in 2021 and we couldnt be happier! She comes to us with over 20 years of experience in the dental field and is our fabulous financial coordinator.Elinais a fantastic friend, mom and quite the help with your insurance and financial questions.

Elinais quite the athlete and enjoys marathons (yes, even the Disneyland fun run) and plays competitive travel softball. When shes not aiming for the fences, she enjoys watching her sons, Logan and Harper play baseball and soccer. Together, they love the SF Giants, 49ers and trips to National Parks & Aloha fun in Hawaii.

We are so happy to welcome Vicki to our team! Vicki hung around here as a mom of 2 patients before joining our team and we knew she would be a great fit as one ofour scheduling coordinators. Vicki is a Santa Cruz native and enjoys watching her kids score on the soccer field. Vicki is very much a family oriented person and the 4 pack (Vicki, husband Michael, son Brett and daughter Natalie) area 6 pack with 2 Siberian huskies. Vickiand her husband have adopted & rescued huskies for a couple of decades now.Youll likely see Vicki on the beach or pass her on our many hiking trails in the forest.

We are so blessed that Alicia joined our team in 2021. Alicia comes to us with 25+ years of experience as a registered dental assistant in the orthodontic community and she even helped train Esme in the 90s! Alicia brings with her a very calm and nurturing personality and quickly became the team favorite with her heart of gold. When Alicia isnt dazzling our patients with her skills or amazing her family with her meals, she can be found antiquing and exploring our many coastal towns with her husband. Alicia has 15 siblings and they are together often, she has walks with her sisters weekly. Alicia and her husband are proud parents of 2 successful and sweet adult sons.

Rosila is our newest member and joined our team in 2021. Rosila comes to us with 23 years of orthodontic experience and also worked along side Tara, Esme and Alicia in the 90s. Rosila has a very calm, observant personality and is happy to be the quiet, kind assistant to our guests. We love Rosilas big smile and attention to detail. Shes quite handy as our records technician and lab assistant. Rosila enjoys being with her teenaged kids, Vanessa and Danny and her husband. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks and watching movies.

We are so happy to welcome Lorena to our team! Lorena comes to us with 21 years of amazing assisting skills and is a delight to work with. Lorena is a local gal and a graduate of Harbor High Go Pirates!

We have already enjoyed many of Lorenas words of wisdom and positive outlook in life, youll be lucky to have her as your assistant and get some of her Lorena-ismstoo. Youll find her engaging, knowledgeable and an expert at offering a hand when she sees a need shes certainly earned her spot as a dream team member. When Lorena isnt being awesome at our office, shes awesome out in our community. Lorena has been an avid kick boxing instructor, enjoys running and shares a passion of all things Disney with her fianc, Isaiah. Together, they enjoy trips to Disneyland whenever they can get time off together and adventures with their sweet Chihuahua, Nala.
