Dr. Johnston grew up in Charlotte North Carolina. He graduated from South Meck High School. After high school he enlisted in the Navy. After completing his first tour in the Navy Dr. J attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned his B.S. in Aerospace and completed his prerequisites for Dental School. He attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1995. He then returned to the Navy as a dentist and was stationed at Cherry Point serving the Marines Corps. In 1998 Dr. Johnston purchased Dr. Dan Wilsons practice. In his spare time Dr. J enjoys his family, motorcycles and surfing at the beach.Front Office:
Courteney is from Dallas, NC and has been an assistant as well as a front desk employee. She has worked for Dr. Johnston for 3 years. She has been married for 12 years and has one son. She and her husband own the Country Kitchen in Dallas so when she is not here she is working at the restaurant.
Dawn is from Belmont, NC and she has worked the front desk at Dr. Johnstons office for 1 years. She loves animals and has been married 28 years. She loves to spend time with her family and she loves to read.
Nikki is from Nashville, TN she has been married to Dr. Johnston for 25 years. She has helped out at the front desk off and on while raising two boys. Now that they are older she is working at the office more. She loves to spend time with her family and loves to read.
Joan is from Gaston County and she has worked for Dr. Johnston for 20 years but has worked as an assistant/ front desk for 58 years (she started out with Dr. Wilson). She has two children and 3 grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, yard work and she is a Christian Clown at her Church.
AssistantsCindy is from Dallas, North Carolina and has been an assistant for 13 years. Cindy has worked for Dr. Johnston for 10 years. She has been married for 32 years and has 2 children (one of the them is Courteney who works the front desk) and 2 grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Taylor is also from Dallas, North Carolina and she has been an assistant for 2 years and worked for Dr. Johnston since she began assisting. She loves her family and her dogs. Her hobbies are going to the beach and shopping.
HygienistsChristy is from Belmont, NC and has been a hygienist for 10 years. She has been at Dr. Johnstons office for 2 years. She has a daughter who attends Wingate University. She loves to travel and loves Duke and the Panthers.

Don't go here. They jerk you around with appointments. They let the validity date run out from the VA so he was referred to a different dentist,where we found out that he has 2 fillings and a root canal before he can get his partial. They are slackers.

We LOVE Dr. J. His entire staff is wonderful, caring & friendly. I usually have high anxiety at the dentist but I love visiting his office & I am especially fond of Christy. Super friendly, helpful & knowledgeable! 10/10 would recommend to everyone!

I'm so glad a friend recommended Dr. Johnston to me years ago. I have always been pleased with the services. I have likewise recommended him to friends. His office is very nice, the staff has been helpful. Also, has the best hygienist Christy.

I have had several visits to Dr. Johnston's office and have to say my care was exceptional, Dr. Johnston made me feel very comfortable, he and his staff are a stellar group of individuals, they are very well trained and professional, his staff are also using all the safety recommendations during this time with COVID. Thumbs up to Dr. Johnston and his staff for a great job on taking care of my dental needs.

I took my son logan in while he had braces Thad p Johnson is a wonderful office they have a great staff the hygienist Christy made him feel very comfortable since he doesn't like cleanings the front desk extremely nice and helpful I have recommended them to all my friends and family

Thad Johnston is a great dentist. I brought my son in with multiple issues and he was able to get us on a treatment plan that everyone was comfortable with. My son has never liked going to the dentist, but had no problem with Christy cleaning his teeth. The front desk was able to get us all the follow up appointments we needed quickly and worked with our schedule. Would highly recommend Thad P Johnston DDS.

New patient here: Dr Johnston and staff were friendly, professional, and thorough. The hygienist, Christy, did an especially great job on my cleaning, explaining what she was doing as she went along, even humming for entertainment. She was very patient with me and my anxieties regarding the entire procedure. Dr Johnston did a thorough check and I was done in about an hour. Not bad for an initial visit with X-rays. Highly recommended.
