Dr. Michael Johnson grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from West Des Moines Valley High School. After graduation, he went to Wartburg College, where he played on the college baseball team and earned his Bachelors degree in Biology.
After finishing his undergraduate schooling, Dr. Johnson married his college sweetheart and moved to Iowa City where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. While finishing up dental school, Dr. Johnson and his wife Jennifer were blessed with their son.
After dental school, he then went on to complete specialty training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he received his Masters of Science in Dentistry and certification in orthodontics.

Never again do you have to worry about uncomfortable impressions with our offices intraoral digital scanner! With 3D digital dentistry, the scanner eliminates the need for impressions by instead creating more precise, digital impressions. This is especially useful for Invisalign patients because the scanner can connect to the Invisalign network, instantly providing Dr. Johnson and his patients a simulation of what the patients expected outcome will be after completing an Invisalign treatment. In addition, digital impressions make it much easierand fasterto send out to have your clear aligners created.
We want to make sure you receive the best orthodontic treatment possible. For that reason, we use panoramic and cephalometric x-rays to better understand and diagnose your teeth in an accurate and safe manner. Digital x-rays provide Dr. Johnson with a more accurate picture of your teeth and jaw, which will help him determine the best treatment for you. In addition, digital x-rays have become a popular form of imaging, replacing traditional film x-rays because they expose the patient to significantly less radiation, making it a safer imaging option.
Our office also uses advanced soft tissue lasers for a variety of soft tissue procedures, such as gum recontouring. The lasers emit narrow beams of light that are able to penetrate the tissue, better assisting with the removal or shaping of soft tissues such as the gums. Soft tissue lasers have become the preferred tool when it comes to soft tissue shaping and removal because they allow for a quicker procedure and causes much less discomfort for the patient.

Getting braces should always be this painless. (For the parent) The staff is professional, quick and the billing process had a lot of options. I was able to choose monthly payments and it is debited directly, saving me a payment to remember. You can choose the plan that fits you.

My experience at Johnson orthodontics was amazing. I had just a few teeth that were crooked and needed to be fixed. I came in and they suggested braces for just a short time. They were able to start treatment that same day! 6 months later I was out of braces and now have a beautiful smile! Great office and great staff! Highly recommend them!
