Dr. Gerald Johnson is a Cincinnati native who graduated magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in mathematics. While attending the University of Cincinnati, he was awarded the Harry S. Kieval Scholarship in mathematics. Upon graduation, Dr. Johnson attended Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago on a full academic scholarship from the United States Navy. Dr. Johnson graduated at the top of his class at Northwestern and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental academic honor society. Upon graduation, Dr. Johnson received a commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. While in dental school, Dr. Johnson discovered his keen interest in orthodontics and thereafter attended the orthodontic residency program at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
After completion of his orthodontic residency, Dr. Johnson served as the staff orthodontist at the United States Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy for several years. There he treated children of active-duty families, in addition to military personnel. While living in Europe, Dr. Johnson had the opportunity to attend many international orthodontic conferences. In addition, he was the lead author of a research paper published in a nationally reviewed scientific journal, based on the findings of a research project he designed. After completion of his tour of duty in Naples, Dr. Johnson was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his meritorious service. Dr. Johnson was then selected to be the orthodontist for the prestigious United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. There he treated complex orthognathic surgical cases with the surgical team at Bethesda National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Hospital. Dr. Johnson also was a guest lecturer at the post-graduate Naval Dental School at Bethesda Naval Hospital. While in Annapolis, Dr. Johnson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.
Dr. Johnson is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, Ohio Dental Society, Cincinnati Dental Society and other local dental study clubs. He also attends many continuing education courses throughout the year to stay abreast of current changes in the field of dentistry and orthodontics.
When not straightening teeth, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Beth and their children, Sienna and Blake. His other interests include traveling, running, cycling, music, boating, fishing, and classic automobile restoration.

Johnson Orthodontics is the best Ortho practice in the area! We've had 2 children as patients and their staff has that rare ability to mix professionalism with the warm welcoming atmosphere....Great communication and personal touch....and the results speak volumes! My children's smiles are simply wonderful!

We had a great experience working with Dr. Johnson and his staff. No one in our family has had braces before so we had no clue what to expect which made us a little anxious. Dr. Johnson did great job of outlining the process and thoroughly explaining what to expect along the way. He followed up with us to see how things were going and addressed any concerns we had as well. The staff was extremely friendly and very efficient at every visit. They have convenient locations and were very accommodating to my work schedule which was helpful. I would highly recommend Johnson Orthodontics to all of my family and friends. Our family has been so pleased with our experience at Johnson Orthodontics. My son needed extensive work with a combination of extractions and orthodontic care. Dr. Johnson and his knowledgeable staff met with us several times to discuss our options, and we always felt like we were treated like family. We are always warmly greeted and we enjoy a professional but relaxed atmosphere when we are in for visits. Our daughter has also been through phase 1 and now in the middle of phase 2. We can't say enough about how pleased we and will be sure to bring in our younger kids if/when they require orthodontic care!

Dr Johnsons office is great! The staff is kind and friendly to me and my 2 sons. They always walk to their appointments from school, it's very convenient and extremely professional. Highly reccomend.

All 3 of my children has been going to Dr. Johnson for several years. We went there after several orthodontists wouldn't see my son given his serious overbite issues and how hard it would be to fix. Dr. Johnson took him in around the age of 10 and has done wonders on his mouth. We still have another phase to do but happy with his work. Additionally, he's sees my other two children and we've found no issues in getting appointments for their monthly adjustments. In fact, they're on time which is nice given we take them out of school and drive 20 minutes for the appointments. I'd recommend him to anyone who is looking.
