Johnson Dental has been serving the residents of Green Valley and Sahuarita for more than a decade. The office was initially opened by Dr. Richard Johnson. In 2017 Eli Perez joined the staff as hygienist and managing partner. Since then the office has grown with new patients almost every day, doubled in square footage, brought in three additional dentists and 2020 has seen the opening of a new surgical suite.
Johnson Dental currently has three dentists, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Garfield and Dr. Hartung. All have extensive knowledge and experience in general dentistry. Dr. Garfield is an accomplished oral surgeon and works with our dental implant patients. Dr. Johnson brings laser dentistry skills enabling our qualifying patients to undergo extensive dental work without drilling and to enjoy faster healing time. Dr. Hartung is especially wonderful with children and brings an extensive knowledge of cosmetic options such as Six-Month-Smiles.
Eli Perez, Kathy Edgar and Angela Poulos comprise the hygienist team. Eli has been providing preventive dentistry for more than twenty years in Green Valley. We were very excited to be able to bring Kathy onto our team in 2018 and equally excited when Angela joined in 2019. You will find both of these ladies to be great people-persons who provide first class hygienist services.

Young Richard became acutely aware of the pain general dentistry can cause during his first trip to a dentist as a child. Now as a practicing dentist he has been able to take the leadership in southern Arizona by being the very first area dentist to provide laser treatments for a host of dental maladies that would normally require drilling and grinding... and pain.
Dr. Richard Johnson is a 1996 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. After graduation Dr. Johnson and his wife moved to Tucson and started his private practice in Tucson and then eventually Green Valley.
Dr Johnson has three children that keep him busy, but when he does get a little extra time he enjoys golfing, skiing, cycling and photography. Dr Johnson is also very active with the Boy Scouts of America and Flying Samaritans of Arizona.
Dr. Stephanie Vidoni-Hartung joined the Johnson Dental team in September 2019. She specializes in general dentistry but also brings expertise in pediatric, geriatric and cosmetic dentistry along with Invisalign and Six Month Smiles.
Dr. Hartung has lived in Tucson since 1977 and has been practicing dentistry here for about 25 years. She received her Doctor of Dentistry from the University of Illinois Chicago and followed that up with Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the Lutheran Medical Center/El Rio Health Clinic.
He was born in Ogden Utah and has lived in Utah, Colorado, Washington, Virginia and two years in Australia. He attended Bingham Young University where he majored in Zoology. In 1992 Dr. Garfield attended Medical college of Virginia and graduated in 1996 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Garfield has practiced in Tucson, Leesburg and Richmond, Virginia as a general dentist for 25 years.
Dean has been married for 31 years and has six children: three boys and three girls. In his free time he enjoys skiing, bicycling, hiking and the great outdoors. Dr. Garfield would love to help and serve you for your dental needs. He is an accomplished dental surgeon and has changed the lives of dozens of patients through the installation of dental implants.

Based on the good review of my neighbor, I made a first time appointment at Johnson Dental for cleaning, x-rays and dental exam. I have been lucky in the past to have had great dental care, so my standards and expectations were high. I must say that my great expectations were met! Very pleasant, efficient and professional dental office, using state-of-the-art, modern techniques and sanitary practices. Callie at the front desk and hygienist Angela were very sweet and put me at ease. So glad to have found you!

I had my teeth cleaned I was impressed to have a hygienist that was thorough. She made sure to clean my teeth and check my gums. I enjoy my cleanings with Denise not much of a talker just offering me a service I really appreciate. I appreciate she is so dedicated and instructed me of the areas I need to maintain and focus on.

We recently moved to Green Valley and my husband was in need of a dentist. He needed two crowns and we selected Johnson Dental for our dental needs. After his exam we were provided an Active Treatment Plan outlining the fees, allowed amounts, insurance payments, etc. Johnson Dental required my husband to sign this plan acknowledging the cost of their services. We considered that signed itemized treatment plan to be a binding agreement. First, they billed our insurance for an unnecessary core build up. Luckily, we were not responsible for the charge since it was deemed unnecessary. Next, they charged us the full fee not the agreed upon amount listed on the signed Active Treatment Plan. It clearly stated our responsibility for each procedure. We do not understand why they had my husband sign the treatment plan which clearly showed the allowed costs yet charged us a different fee. Johnson Dental was in our network and by signing the agreement we expected to pay the agreed upon amounts. They collected their costs upfront, overcharged us $534 and refused to refund or credit our account. BEWARE OF JOHNSON DENTAL. They are unethical in their billing practices and do not honor their fee schedule. Needless to say, we are looking for a new dentist. Hope this saves someone else from the aggravation we experienced in dealing with Johnson Dental.

I give Johnson Dental ! The entire staff is knowledgeable, professional, polite and friendly! Kelly and Angela at the front desk set the mood for what you dental experience will be! No sweaty, palms or heart palpations once you meet theses two ladies. Eli Perez is A#1 as a hygienist! I have been seeing him so long I've watched his children grown up from his family photos. From a permanent partial to fillings, I've done it all. Johnson Dental has all the best and latest equipment assuring your experience will be done professionally! It's not often you leave your dentist office excited about the results. Love the ladies and their humor at the front desk, the dental techs are so nice and thorough. Dr. Johnson is the absolute best! He's genuine, professional and does fantastic work! You won't find a better team for your dental needs!
