Dr. John White and his hardworking dental team deeply believe in providing high-quality services designed to create a positive experience for all patients. It can be difficult to need multiple dental professionals just so your oral health gets the attention and care that it needs, which is why we make sure our treatments are comprehensive. Preventive care, restorative services, cosmetic smile makeovers, sedation and much more is available when you visit a dedicated dentist in Asheville.

Not only is our office equipped with the latest dental technology available to make your dental experience more precise, comfortable and effective, but Dr. White sits down with all of his patients directly and learns exactly what their specific desires are. We care about helping you achieve your oral health goals, whether its keeping your smile healthy for the long-term, replacing multiple missing teeth to make your smile complete once more, transforming your smiles appearance from top-to-bottom, or simply feeling relaxed during your routine visits. We pride ourselves on our ability to perform many dental services in-house, so youre not running all over town just to complete the care you want.

One of our core values of the practice is prevention, and for good reason. We believe that the earlier we can catch a dental issue, the easier it will be to prevent it from turning into something worse. After all, this is one of the most effective ways to prevent a dental emergency. In the event a dental emergency does appear, well not only see you, but make sure that the dental emergency doesnt happen again. At the end of the day, helping you maintain a smile that is fully functional is one of our highest priorities.

While author Thomas Wolfe might not agree, Dr. John White is proof you can come home again. Born and raised in Asheville, Dr. White always knew he wanted to start a family of his own right here in his hometown and continue the long-standing traditions of community enrichment. Today, he can happily say that hes been fortunate enough to welcome the opportunity to now help his friends, family members, and neighbors smile brighter.

After graduating with his bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. White was planning to pursue a PhD in chemistry. Fortunately for dental patients across Asheville, though, he decided to take a break after college and work for a little while. Spending a few years doing research in pharmaceutical labs convinced him otherwise. The lab environment provided minimal interaction with people and dulled his enthusiasm.

At this point, he took a few days to shadow his dentist, Dr. Weinstein. Immediately, Dr. White knew this was the perfect career. He went from watching the clock to see when his day would end to losing track of time. Dentistry offered the science he loved while expanding his horizons to include hands-on creativity and a genuine ability to help others.

Even after earning his dental degree from the University of North Carolina (after all, once a Tarheel, always a Tarheel), Dr. White knew he had so much more to learn. This is why he relished the opportunity to participate in a two-year, post-doctoral residency program at Wake Forest Universitys Baptist Hospital and Bowman Gray School of Medicine. During this time, he worked in a hospital setting and built his expertise in extractions, sedation dentistry, and dental implants along with a wide range of more routine, dental procedures. His residency also included participation in a year-long externship hosted by the world-renowned Midwest Implant Institute in Columbus, OH.

Since completing his residency and returning to Asheville, Dr. White has continued to invest in advanced training and education. In fact, he has earned his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, which is an accomplishment that less than 1% of all dentists in the United States can brag about. As part of this commitment, he completed the entire curriculum at the prestigious Dawson Academy in Florida. Here, he learned how to make the most complex cases predictable and embraced the philosophy of treating the whole person, not just their teeth. These accomplishments represent more than 1,000 hours of hands-on and classroom learning.

With fond memories of his childhood spent exploring the hills and trails of the Great Smokey Mountains, Dr. White has been fortunate to have his kids follow in his footsteps. He and his wife enjoy the challenges and busy schedules that come with two teenagers and a college student, and they have embraced every opportunity to help them learn and grow. For his sons, this includes active involvement in the Boy Scouts of America, with his eldest son already earning his Eagle Scout and his 15 year-old headed in the same direction. When time permits, they also enjoy traveling as a family to other, exciting parts of the world.

Elaine has been working in dentistry for 25 years now, with the last five spent here at our Asheville office. She attended Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in 1992 and also received training as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical Anesthesia Assistant at the University of Tennessee in 1993. Her favorite part of her job is being able to connect with patients and help them achieve the long-term dental health they deserve.

From the beginning to the (close to end), Dr. White has been professional, so so kind, and patient. All he cared about was making me comfortable during procedures and extending compassion when I needed it the most. His dental assistants were just as amazing as him! Thank you, Dr. White!

One of the worst dentist office I've ever experienced. I suspected something was up from my first two visits when I noticed very few clients or office staff. I made a follow up appointment to do a full exam X-ray after my first initial visit had to wait 30 days day and the day before my appointment the office clerk called said the doctor had to cancel my appointment and they would be calling me back to reschedule "they never called me back" fast forward six months later they do a cold call me to say they haven't seen me in long time and asked if I could come in I said yes. I should've known better and said no. I went in to my appointment (an hour 20 min drive) I was five minutes late they're entire office staff quit or left the place from my last visit and this new horrible office lady said I was late and the doctor couldn't see me. I complained to the horrible office lady that I was only five minutes late and drove over hour then she went back and the doctor saw me all for 10 minutes they took lots of X-rays of my mouth to charge me and my Insurance. I reluctantly made a follow up visit for a filling in 30 days. I went in to the office on time and the same horrible office lady yelled at me she had been calling me 3 times on my way to dentist office. I told her I was driving couldn't answer my phone. She had the audacity to ask me if I even had a cellphone! She took me aside and told me the doctor could not give me a filling today. I complained and at this point I was so fed up with this lousy dentist office. Then doctor John White came out had the audacity to tell me he wasn't set up to do filling after scheduling me for one. I said "this is a cosmetic dentist office and your telling me you can't give me a filling after scheduling it?" Then Dr. White yelled at me and told me to "Get out of his office" and said "He didn't need my money " I encourage anyone who reads this to read the other negative reviews here. It shows a pattern of a belligerent Dr. White yelling at his staff and yelling at his clients to get out of his office. If I could give the 0 stars I would. Avoid this place like the plague !!!!!!

Before Knowing of Dr. John I inquired with another office about doing 2 root canals at once under sedation. I was told that was impossible and they would have to schedule with an outside anesthesiologist. After several weeks of no answers and no scheduled appointment I found Dr John White. Made an initial appointment for X-rays and discuss what I needed. He agreed doing both at once and could take care of everything their. A week later double root canal complete and I'm very pleased. Him and his staff are wonderful. For someone suffering from dental anxiety John White DDS is the place to go.

I've been going to Dr. White for about 8 years and constantly blown away with how painless dental work can be. I have rather extreme dental and needle phobia and Dr. White is very good at working around this. he is always extraordinarily kind to me and his staff and his technique is gentle and accommodating. My visit last week was for a root canal that almost made me think i dont really have any of these phobias. I highly recommend Dr. White and couldn't imagine using another dentist.. Many thanks to the entire crew for being so amazing!

Dr White is a brilliant man who maintains cutting edge knowledge of his field. Still, he is very caring, with a warm sense of humor. The same is reflected by the entire staff... the highest standards of practice in the most comforting environment.

I've been a patient of Dr. White for years. I haven't had good experience with dentist in the past. I have TMJ and joint problems. I was in a lot of pain for a long time. I'm happy to say Dr. White help I'm living 85-95% pain free. I would recommend Dr. White and his staff to anyone who is looking for a dentist.

Every single person in this office has treated me with complete kindness, understanding, and professionalism. With each visit, any anxiety I've had lessens. It's safe to say that most people don't look forward to having any dental procedure. However, I do think you will look forward to the experience of being treated so well from the front desk to the chair. Dr. White not only explains things very well, but he has a very efficient and gentle way. And this goes for everyone in the office. I could go on and on and praise every individual staff member very easily. But just know that I cannot imagine having better satisfaction with a dental practice. Everyone needs a dentist, doctor, and someone to cut their hair, so you might as well find people who make you feel like a welcome friend to do these things. So, unless you are a mean and grouchy person, give them a call and start feeling good about your dental visits.

I have had the same dentist my entire life and he finally retired. I had an implant screw come loose and my tooth was wiggling back and forth. I was skeptical of Dr. White at first given no one else has ever worked in my mouth, but I was definitely proven wrong. He explained step by step what he was doing and about half way in I let my guard down and relaxed. My implant is finally back to normal after months of putting it off out of fear because I no longer had the same dentist. Very happy I found this practice!

This man is not a dentist, he is some sort of Tooth Wizard. I had a broken infected wisdom tooth extraction and a broken bicuspid root canal and both of these were the most pleasant dental work i've ever had done. I don't know how he did it. The dental assistants and other staff are also very pleasant and will make you feel comfortable. Stop reading reviews and book an appointment already.

I had been to the same dentist for 25 years, and sadly, had to find a new one. This office had great reviews and due to all the comments I read about them catering to anxiety ridden patients, I thought it to be perfect for me. I was not wrong! The receptionist was a sweetheart from the 1st email to the scheduling of appts. She is kind, beautiful and seems to be such a warm person. I had some issues with my ins info and it didn't phase her a bit.. she was just as patient as she could be. The dental assistant I was blessed to have was nothing short of exactly what my anxiety needed. She was patient, laughed at my silly comments, calmed my nerves, was gentle and such a beautiful person as well. She talked to me and tried to calm me by carrying on a conversation, as opposed to making me sit and wait. She was so sweet- exactly the type of person you hope to get at an appointment! The dentist was also very professional, explained everything to me, made sure I understood what he was talking about and spoke to me like I was an actual person- not just a patient to bill. One thing I loved- you know how the rooms are open at one end and anyone sitting on either side can hear your conversation? Well with Dr. White, he spoke quietly when we were discussing my dental health. (He showed me respect in a way that he may not have even realized!) He was gentle, kind, soft spoken and made my nerves disappear. Having social anxiety to the degree in which I do, makes it almost unbearable to go places without someone with me, but this is one of the places I am glad to go!. Thank you!

Dr. John White did not listen to me as a patient, my pain was disregarded and the treatment plan was inappropriate. I had to go to a different dentist that didn't try pushing a crown into my treatment unnecessarily and recognized pain from a cavity Dr White missed.

My husband had an appointment as a new patient today, June 23, 2021 to have his teeth cleaned. I waited in the lobby. As time passed I needed to use the restroom and asked permission of the receptionist. After using their facility I returned to the waiting room. Momentarily, my husband entered the waiting area being followed by Dr. White YELLING at him to "Get out of my office!" Stunned I asked, "What is going on?" I was ignored as Dr. White continued YELLING, "Get out and don't come back, you're a jackass." Dr. White then went back through the doorway and continued yelling through the open area from where the receptionist's sits and starts loudly mumbling insults. Dr. White then yells to my husband, "If you don't leave right now I am going to call the police!" I said, "Hold your horses, we are leaving." He keeps saying," They are such rude people." I have said almost nothing Dr. White now I am included in his insults. I told him I was trying to cancel an appointment I had previously made with his receptionist only to hear him reply, "Get out and never come back." I have NEVER observed such behavior in a doctor's waiting room? This was the most unprofessional behavior I have ever witnessed and clearly showed me this is a very unstable, disturbed individual. I certainly would never recommend anyone establish a professional relationship with someone who displays such poor people skills, lack of professionalism, and in need of anger management therapy.

Here is the truth about Dr. White! Notice his staff turnover rate. Very high. Why you may ask? He treats his staff like animals. Yells at them in front of patients. He degrades his staff on a regular basis. I was a patient, one time, for a cleaning and to set up future appointments. My wife was the Hygienist working there. At the time he seemed like a good man and even offered to cover the cost of the work I needed because I am a retired Navy Veteran. Pretty Awesome right? I did not go back because of what my wife and the rest of his staff were saying about him and how he treated them. Dr. White has a male chauvinistic attitude towards the woman that work for him. Ask any of the prior staff. Both my wife and I were in charge of dental clinics in the Navy and know how to lead, train and treat staff. If you are looking for a wholesome practice with family values......look elsewhere.
