I am Dr. John W. Chung and I look forward to addressing all of your dental needs. I am passionate about helping patients improve their oral health and achieve a beautiful smile. When people ask me why I enjoy being a dentist, I explain that I love to build personal relationships with my patients and treat the person, not just the tooth.
Here a little bit about myself. I was born in Long Beach and grew up in Orange County. I have been involved in dentistry most of my life. I have two cousins that are dentists and I always knew I would also become a dentist so after graduating high school. It was a very easy and clear decision to go into a career that would channel my creative talents through a hands-on approach in the healthcare industry. I attended Cal State University San Bernardino transferred to University of California Santa Cruz. From there I went on to attend Marquette University School of Dentistry. I graduated in 1998 and thereafter, I worked as an associate in private practices in cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee, Santa Barbara and Ventura before purchasing my own practice.
In 2002, I moved to Ventura and quickly knew this was where I wanted to establish long-term roots. My vision for this practice is to offer caring, comfortable, and comprehensive dental care to our valued community. We welcome patients of all ages. My passion is for cosmetic dentistry, where many new and exciting advances in dental materials such as composite or 'white' fillings, porcelain veneers, implant restoration, and teeth whitening. My practice has state-of-the-art equipment, including soft leather dental chairs and digital x-rays to minimize radiation. These provide comfort and safety-two values which are most important to me.
I, along with Suhan, Teresa and Helen look forward to continuing to provide you and your family with the same excellent care provided by Dr. Lau. The entire office staff was so friendly and helpful! It was the first time I've been to a dentist that I felt comfortable. Dr. Chung was amazing, gentle and very eager to answer any questions. What a great experience!

To say I dislike going to the dentist is an understatement but Dr. Chung curbs my fears and tells me everything he is doing. He is gentle and professional and the best dentist I have ever been to!!! The office staff is very friendly and helpful. Great environment!

Dr.Johns associate Dr.Danny helped my son who is on the spectrum have a great dental visit. He had patience and compassion and we are so happy we found him to help our 6 yr old son (: we recommend him to all our friends. Just had another appt there and Dr.Danny is by far the best pediatric dentist we have ever been to! We tried sugar bug in the past but it was very corporate and they did not have staff that made the experience personable. This last visit, miss Swan heard Ryder crying in the waiting room and was able to make sure he was seen in a very timely matter. These folks here go above and beyond

Dr Chung is probably the best Dennis I've seen in my life. personable, interested in the patient as a person and making them comfortable. Very very knowledgeable, honest and thorough. I think it had been six or seven years since my last visit to a dentist Who was saying I would need another root canal, I started getting suspicious since I had never had any pain in my teeth. Thankfully I only had one cavity since I've seen Dr Chung twice. He and his office are the best. I'll be going twice a year now! No problem. He also has a good rate for patients that don't have insurance.

This was our first visit to see Dr Chung after changing dentists so the visit was referring to a comprehensive questionnaire, X-rays and an initial analysis of of any dental issues revealed in the X-rays. Dr .Chung's first question to me was " what are your concerns?"He listens and explains everything without being an alarmist. He provides alternative ways to best solve the dental issue. His staff is also top notch.... welcoming, professional, and just lovely to deal with. Four stars only because we are just beginning our "journey " with Dr Chung. But my wife and I left the office feeling great relief that we at last had found the right dentist. Update:9/2022 It's been over a year and we can't say enough wonderful things about Dr Chung and his staff. We have both had various dental issues and all have been resolved with great care and immediate attention.Dr Chung doesn't hesitate to recommend a specialist if indicated. He is extremely caring and spends as much time as needed with each patient.His wonderful staff always goes the extra mile to meet each patient's needs. If you are searching for a compassionate and caring dentist you need not look further !!! The entire office including the office mgr. to the receptionist is fantastic !! They worked very hard to get me in for treatment as I was in serious pain and discomfort. Phone calls and emails were returned super fast and always friendly. I now feel very comfortable to returning to Dr. Chung for any treatment because he is makes sure that your pain is kept at an absolute minimum !! I am so relieved that my family and I have such a great dentist and find myself to be lucky and fortunate. Thank you so much Dr. Chung for helping me and to the office mgr that made my treatment happen quickly and not make me wait since I was in serious pain !!! This dental office gets my highest rating possible and my personal recommendation to anyone who needs a competent dentist and huge reduction in dental anxiety !!! Dr. Chung is an EXCELLENT dentist. He is careful, up-to-date on the latest dental information, answers all of my questions with as much detail as I can handle, has all the cutting edge equipment in his office, is very friendly and personable, just like all his office staff, and has a wonderful spirit.
