Dr. Shoemaker and his staff are AMAZING! I recently switch to Dr. Shoemaker and they make you feel so welcome during your whole visit. Dr. Shoemaker is definitely one of the top dentists in Grayson County. He is very informative and you can tell he really cares about his patients and is passionate about what he does. I cannot say enough great things about his front desk staff, they are just wonderful. He should be very proud of the team he has working at his office. Thanks Dr. Shoemaker & staff for always providing excellent dental services.

Dr. Shoemaker and his staff are incredibly rude. I would not recommend this office to anyone. Dr. Shoemaker did not listen to my concerns for my son. He had an attitude at my son for having his phone, due to being very nervous at the dental office. After our visit, we chose to seek a different dentist. When I called to get my sons X-rays sent to new dental office the office manager thought she was speaking to the new dental office. She said "good luck with him and his mom!" She proceeded to talk major trash about my son and myself, TO ME!!! I have had major health issues and my sons dental work has been put off. We were seeking a dentist to get everything worked on but to be treated in such a way was heartbreaking. I proceeded to tell her she was talking to me and how rude that was! She hung up on me. So unprofessional and disrespectful. The new dental office was amazing and understanding. The office does not know how to file dental insurance and was all about the MONEY!

I have been to So Many Dentists in my life, and DDS. Shoemaker (I call him Dr.) Is the Greatest! Dr. Shoemaker not only is he Highly Skilled, but has a Wonderful Personality! His hands are Steady, and his eyes are Keen!. Dr. Shoemaker has replaced one of my Empty slots, with an Implant, and I am So, So Happy! Now, for the other side of my palette. I Absolutely Love Dr. Shoemaker so Much, and Trust in the Whole Team, that I brought my Granddaughter who was old enough to be seen. Her first visit was so Amazing, and they put her right at ease! I visited Dr. Shoemaker's office after being told by another dentist that the best option for my tooth was to pull it. Dr. Shoemaker said he was going to save that tooth and he did just that. I have never liked going to the dentist, but I will say I have never felt so comfortable in a dentist office. The beautiful ladies up front, Tabitha (Tabby) and Sandi, are extremely helpful and so easy to talk to. They answer any and all of my questions and have made my experience a breeze. Their hygienist, Cheryl (I apologize if that's incorrect spelling), is amazing, as well. I absolutely love it there and would recommend Dr. Shoemaker and his amazing staff any day.

Update to my May 2020 review: It's been several months since the insurance company finally agreed that Dr. Shoemaker was attempting to bill for a second lower denture and that he should not be billing us the difference between the network savings amount and amount billed since his services were performed as a Network Provider. This ruling meant that we are due a $1906.20 refund from the money we paid him in full in January of 2019. We requested the refund and gave Dr. Shoemaker additional time to do the right thing, however we have heard nothing from his office since they attempted to bill us an additional $3205.80 and turned it over to a collection agency in June of 2020. We disputed the claim with the collection agency, and have not heard from them since July, but we have to continue checking our credit records to make sure this bogus claim doesn't damage our credit. Our only recourse now is to take him to small claims court but with the pandemic and health issues, it's doubtful we will ever get to do that. We have never written a bad review, but felt that this was the only way to get our story out and hopefully to help someone avoid the inconvenience and pain that we've been put through. In response to our BBB complaint and earlier review, Dr. Shoemaker and his staff insinuated that we were just old people that didn't understand the process. We've never had an issue or misunderstanding about billing or treatment with any dentist or professional in all our adult years and believe me; we've had a lot of dental work done between the two of us. Shame, shame on Dr. Shoemaker and his staff for treating a disabled veteran this way, but I guess he needed the money more than we did. Always, always get your insurance pre-certification, treatment plan and complete costs in writing! If the provider refuses to put it in writing, run, do not walk to the door. Make sure to get your insurance pre-certification, treatment plan and complete costs in writing! It took 11 months to complete 2 implants and one lower denture due to miscommunications with our insurance company and this office! It has been 5 months since treatment was completed and this office has yet to issue a refund based on our insurance EOB. They submitted new charges after the implants and dentures were completed. The explanation was that they could go back and "adjust" the costs associated with treatment, even after treatment was completed. The patient is a disabled vet and I am a retired professional and we should have known better, but we trusted the information we were given. TRUST BUT VERIFY! ALWAYS GET IT IN WRITING!!

. ****REVISION from 2 months ago**** From 4 to 2 in 1 visit! I am sad to report back that my views on this Dentist has changed due to an appointment I had a few weeks after my 4 wisdom teeth were extracted. I wanted to keep the previous review but this one exceeded the limit so I had to delete it and because that was my thoughts then. I had no intentions of deleting my review or making a revision even after my appointment until I saw that over 100 people have viewed it. After I received the notification from yahoo about all the viewers, my conscience wouldn't allow me to keep silent. The staff is amazing and my thoughts and opinion of them remain the same, however Dr Shoemaker's behavior made me question his involvement in my future dental services. Previous reviews stated he was money hungry but I was like that wasn't my initial experience, until now. Is he really after my money? I had an appointment to file a few of my teeth to make them all even. In previous appointments he said yeah, you can come in and I'll file those down for you, no problem. I Made the appointment, came in, he discussed my review & thanked me. He mentioned the other reviews where someone said he was after their money and we both just shook our heads and chuckled. He educated me on what the end results would be like for my health in the long run if He filed my teeth and eventually talked me out of filing them down. I'm confused because couldn't you have said that in one of my previous appointments? Why are you mentioning this now? Hmm. I thanked him and headed to the front counter to check out. I told the receptionist no teeth were filed and she said ok, no charge. I ended up chatting with her & the dental hygienist for a bit (like at least 20min). Dr Shoemaker comes up and asks "What did you charge her?" she said "nothing." He said "I gave her over (however many years he's been a Dentist) worth of education so that has to be worth something." He made her charge me. I was speechless. I couldn't believe he said that right while I was standing there. Who does that? Not someone that wanted me to return. I thought he cared. Didn't we just chuckle about someone else's review on you being money hungry & not caring about the patients needs overall? Also, I would have been long gone from the office had I not been chatting with the receptionist, so it wasn't my fault they were not charging me. The reason I wasn't going to write a review about this was because I wanted to remain positive & allow God to handle it. I was unemployed but was thankful to God he provided me with the funds for these services. Hey, at least I saved some money by NOT getting them filed. I didn't want to be viewed as being vengeful, so I prayed about it and let it go. Plus, I get it, if you are seen by a Doctor, you pay them for their time, right? Was I baited to come back just so he could talk me out of it and still get money from me? How he chose to handle the situation didn't sit well with me at all. Poor customer service & questionable character. I absolutely love the staff, but unfortunately what Dr Shoemaker did that day left a sour taste in my mouth & I won't be back.

Dr Shoemaker was patient with me, and eased my fears. The staff is so kind, helpful and also patient with me. It was a lot different than I expected due to TV ads that promise same day. Dr Shoemaker is a perfectionist, and it shows in my smile. It was a year when the permanent teeth went in, but well worth the wait. I now smile in pictures instead of hiding from them. I would do it over again and highly recommend this Dentist and Staff.

Worst man I have ever had to encounter. He is rude, he makes you feel like you are wasting his time if you are going in for something small. Typical money grubbing dentist. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want to be treated like a person!
