Dr. Savukinas has been a member of the Academy of General Dentistry since 1991, and a Fellow of the Academy since 1994. He is on staff at Shady Grove Hospital and the Shady Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and a faculty member at the University of Maryland Dentistry School.
Dr. Savukinas believes everyone should use their own set of skills to contribute to the community and in 2006 he visited Thailand as a part of Smiles on Wings mission to provide complex dental procedures free of charge to those with little to no access to dental care.
Dr. Savukinas works with Smiles on Wings, a non-profit humanitarian organization focused on providing dental and medical care to underprivileged populations. These villages are at least a days walk or boat trip from any medical or dental facility. The goal was not only to offer care, but to encourage self-reliance and healthy habits. He has been traveling to Thailand since 2008 to offer his services and share his expertise. There, he conducted emergent treatments and preventative care, and educated the local population about dental hygiene and maintenance.
Subsequent missions monitor and continue the efforts of the original mission. Scholarships and education programs give underprivileged youth the ability to achieve their dreams of becoming health care professionals.
Dr. Savukinas also works with the Rotary Club of Baltimore to improve the oral health of those in our local community. These events help spread awareness about dental health and also allow Dr. Savukinas to perform vital dental procedures for the most needy in our area.
After a teaching career of 25 years I decided to come over to the dental field to help my nephew Dr. Savukinas in his dental practice. I enjoy working with patients and the rest of the dental staff. I currently help out one day a week or as needed. I enjoy cooking and entertaining my family & friends.
I am a Certified Dental Assistant. I grew up in Takoma Park, MD and graduated from a hand on dental assisting program in Rockville, MD in April of 2018. I have my certification in Radiology and CPR. In my free time I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Im a big animal lover and I love spending time at the beach and going fishing.
