Dr. John Valant has been a fixture in the Cedar Hill community for almost 30 years, so long that many of his first child patients are now bringing their own children to come see him! Hes thrilled to have the opportunity every day to help people improve their health and appearance using his friendly and comprehensive approach to orthodontic care. After graduating from dental school and practicing as a general dentist for 6 years, Dr. Valant became extremely interested in the early treatment of orthodontic problems. He was amazed at the difference orthodontics could make for a child when it came to not just their teeth, but their facial appearance, as well as their confidence. Years of specialty training in orthodontics enabled him to fulfill his passion of treating both kids and adults at his practice in Cedar Hill.

Dr. Valant is a graduate of West Point and received his dental degree from Loyola University. He then spent the next 6 years as a general dentist. Dr. Valant completed an orthodontic residency and received his masters degree from Texas A&M/Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.

Today, he is a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. To become a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Valant had to take an extensive written test during his orthodontic residency and then present examples of successful cases to a collection of his peers. This process was not only tremendously educational, but it really helped refine his skills as well. Only about 25% of orthodontists in the US are board-certified, meaning Dr. Valant is able to provide a level of care that is truly above and beyond what you can expect at your typical office.

Dr. Valant is an assistant professor at Texas A&M/the Baylor College of Dentistry, where he has taught for over 20 years. Teaching others helps Dr. Valant stay on the forefront of the latest advancements in orthodontics, and he says his students actually teach him as much as he teaches them. Their questions and curiosity force him to constantly update his knowledge so he can give orthodontists of the future the most up-to-date and accurate information possible.

Despite his decades of experience, Dr. Valant believes that he should never stop learning, which is why he continues to take courses focused on the newest techniques and technologies in orthodontics. Dr. Valants wife Nancy is a registered nurse, and they have 3 adult children, all of which were great patients! Ella, a miniature Australian Shepherd, is his Frisbee buddy. Dr. Valant also enjoys playing golf, skiing, scuba diving, and do-it-yourself projects.

Annas career in the dental field spans over two full decades so far. After graduating from Ferris High School, she studied at Navarro College and is a Registered Dental Assistant with certifications in Invisalign, dental sealants, coronal polishing, and CPR. Today, what she enjoys most about her role at our practice is meeting patients who feel self-conscious about their smiles and helping them feel not only more comfortable, but more confident as well.

Originally from Red Oak, Anna and her husband Jacob have an outstanding daughter Hailey who has played volleyball since the 7th grade. She was offered a full ride volleyball scholarship to Stephen F. Austin and will be working towards her PhD in Marketing there. They also have a Goldendoodle named Ranger, who is loved like another child. In her free time, she enjoys watching her daughter play volleyball, going on walks, getting lost in a good book, doing puzzles, online shopping, and scrolling through Pinterest she could get lost on there for hours!

Rachel has been a member of our team for over five years In fact, she was a patient of Dr. Valants when she was hired. She can truly relate to our adult patients who feel like theyre too old to get braces. She was 27 when she wore braces and tells our patients that its NEVER too late to get treated!

She lived and attended Midlothian schools up until her senior year, but graduated from Italy High School in 2003. From there, she went on to attend Navarro College and holds her AAS in Accounting. What she enjoys most about her work today is helping each new patient from the first phone to the day they get their braces off and seeing the amazing transformations they go through.

Rachel has two children, Anthony and Ruby, and two fur babies; a Yorkie named PJ and a Schnorkie named Pawdrick. She and her fianc, Ryan, are preparing to get married in October. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, doing hot yoga, shopping, and watching Netflix with her family.

Candice hails from Ferris, a graduate of Ferris High School, and also attended Navarro College. Today, she is a Registered Dental Assistant whos certified in pit and fissure sealants. Her career in the oral healthcare world covers almost 20 years, and shes thrilled to now be working alongside Dr. Valant. Getting to know each patient and seeing the positive impact a beautiful smile can make in a persons life is definitely the most rewarding part of her job!

Candice is happily married to her high school sweetheart Jason, and they have a son named Gavin. In her free time, her top priority is hanging out with Gavin, who is very active in school and after-school sports. Candice also spends lots of time with her dog, a Dogo Argentino named Nala.

After graduating from Red Oak high school, Jordynn attended dental assisting school and became a registered dental assistant. She started her career working for Dr Valant. Jordynn has 10 years experience in various dental specialties but realized her passion was in the field of orthodontics and returned to Dr Valants office. Jordynn truly loves direct patient care and she also manages our social media.

Tina is from the Forney area, and she has been a member of our orthodontic practice for nearly 15 years. After graduating from Cedar Hill High School, she attended Stephen F. Austin State University. Today, what she enjoys most about her position is helping nervous patients feel comfortable so that they eventually enjoy their trips here!

Tina and her husband Seth have three amazing kids named Luke, Evan, and Jane. The last member of their family is the sweetest pup in the world a Boston Terrier named Butch. When she isnt busy caring for patients, her hobbies include staying active in the church, playing the flute, singing, teaching Sunday School, and baking. She makes some pretty amazing toffee just ask Dr. Valant! She also has a new exercise obsession called FlyTyme Fitness, which takes place in a trampoline park.
