I grew up in Aiea, graduated from Punahou School's class of '95, and received a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University. Soon afterwards, I moved to California to attend the University of California, Los Angeles. I earned my Dental degree from UCLA's School of Dentistry in 2008.
Prior to returning home to Hawai'i, I provided a wide variety of dental services in residency at the Sepulveda VA Hospital located in North Hills, CA and as an associate dentist in Northern Los Angeles. When I returned, I worked both in the dental clinic setting and in private practice on the leeward side of Oahu before finally settling on the windward side.
Now, I live and work in beautiful Kane'ohe. I am a proud member of the U.S. Air Forces Hawaii Air National Guard. My days off are filled with family events and kids activities; baseball, soccer, gymnastics, dance, you name it! However, when I can sneak out, I enjoy playing softball with my fellow Guard members, surfing and golf.
I was born and raised in Kaneohe. In 2009, I graduated from Castle High School, where I was active in the wrestling and judo programs. After High School, I followed my passion for wrestling by attending Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where I was an NCAA Division III wrestler and earned my BA in Chemistry. Luckily, I was accepted to a dental school much closer to home, and received my dental degree from the University of Washington School of Dentistry.
After dental school, Icontinued mydental training by completingan Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program. This NYU Brooklyn Langone residency, was held at Kokua Kalihi Valley, and provided training in advanced cases that are more often seen by dental specialists. This training gave me experience in procedures such as surgical wisdom tooth extractions, difficult molar root canal therapy, gum surgery, dentures, and crown and bridge work, as well as day-to-day cleanings and fillings. I completed mytraining in 2018, and I amexcited to be able to join Dr. Oka in serving my hometown of Kaneohe.
When not at the office, Ioccasionally get to spend my time coaching wrestling or practicing at the Wadokan Judo club. But most of my time is spenttaking care of mydaughters. I lookforward to working together with my patients to build lasting relationships and to tailor treatment to each patients own wants and needs.

Dr. Oka's office for your dental needs! The front desk is very nice & helpful. They listen to your needs and help you receive the care you are looking for. I was treated by Dr. Johnson, who was excellent! I was able to explain my concerns and what I was looking for. Dr. Johnson took the time to listen, to check my dental concern and help treat me on the spot. He was very gentle (NO PAIN!) and he worked very well with his assistant as a team. They worked quickly and provided excellent results. I highly recommend Dr. Oka's office and Dr. Johnson.

The office has taken precautions for COVID-19. It was still very convenient and I felt safe going in for my cleaning. My hygienist, Dr. Oka, Dr. Johnson, and all of the staff are ALWAYS kind, pleasant, and welcoming. My employer recently change our insurance provider. The first thing I did was call the office to make sure they'd accept my new insurance. If you are needing to see a dentist I highly recommend going to Dr. Oka and his team!

I really really hate going to the dentist, but coming to Dr. Oka has really helped tame my anxiety towards the dentist office. The staff is kinda like cheers, they remember everyone's name and treats them as if they're family. I love my dentist .

It's always a great experience going to Dr. Oka's office. I love his staff, the dental hygienists are good & Dr. Oka is a sweetheart. He has worked on my teeth without causing me pain. When my sister from Canada was visiting and she was in pain from a bad tooth, he squeezed her into his schedule, fixed the problem, and worked with her insurance so that she didn't have to pay a penny out of her own pocket. My whole family is happy to be patients of Dr. Oka.

I have been literally a lifetime member, since we were kids, when we went to Dr. Takesono. The practice change over has seemed pretty seamless. Same great staff, efficient and friendly. Nettie (front office) is on point for EVERYTHING. Stacy (hygienist) is super friendly. And finally, Dr. Oka is engaging and goes a great job. The office equipment is modern and the new office is beautiful.

If going to the Dentist could be a wonderful day...this would be it. Dr. Oka and his staff will make you feel welcomed and cared for. His techniques are up-to-date and the most pain-free experience I've ever had with my dental work I would highly recommend you give Dr. Oka a try. This is a five star dental treatment in and brand new five star environment. No matter where you live on our island of Oahu, Dr. Oka is worth the drive.

Went in at 7am for routine cleaning. Got a tour of the new place. Nice place. With new equipment. Very friendly and efficient service. This is the place to go. I once had to do a crown and they have a machine that makes it as you wait so you don't need to go in 2-3 times like other places to get the crown fitted. My kids,wife and myself been going here for years! This place is amazing.
