Our goal is to tailor treatment to meet the patients individual desires, goals, and expectations. Dr. Conness has presented many educational programs in the areas of cosmetic and implant dentistry.

Dr. Conness received his undergraduate degree in biology from Benedictine University in 1979, where he was a member of the Blue Key National Honor Society. He graduated from Loyola University School of Dentistry in 1983. While attending Loyola he received the Award of Merit from the American College of Dentists as one of the outstanding senior students. Pursuing his philosophy of advanced dental education, Dr. Conness received his Fellowship Certificate from the Academy of General Dentistry in 1992. In September of 2006, Dr. Conness received his advanced Implant Dentistry Certificate from Temple University and the Misch Resnik International Implant Institute.

Upon graduation, Dr. Conness was the inaugural recipient of the Misch Resnik International Implant Institutes Mastership Award. In November of 2006, Dr. Conness was made a Fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI). The ICOI is the worlds largest educational implant organization in the world. Dr. Conness was awarded the ICOIs Diplomate status in February 2012. Less than one percent of the practicing dentists have been awarded this academic & clinical certificate in the field of implant dentistry. In addition to these certificates, he has maintained his commitment to patient care through ongoing continuing education. Dr. Conness has completed thousands of hours of continuing education.

In addition to these organizations, Dr. Conness was a guest faculty member for the dental assisting program at Illinois Community College and served on the dental assisting advisory board for numerous years. In 2006 Dr. Conness was added to Americas Registry of Outstanding Professionals and in 2005 the Consumers Research Council named Dr. Conness as one of the top dentists in America.

The Misch Resnik International Implant Institute was founded in 1984 by Dr. Carl E. Misch Resnik to educate the dental community and elevate the standard of care in surgical implant placement and the restoration of dental implants. Now world renown, the Institutes goal is to remain at the forefront of implant dentistry through advanced education, research and hands on clinical surgical training programs for dentists from all around the world.

The Misch Resnik International Implant Institute is the only university based surgical implant training program in the world where practicing dentists can refine their surgical skills with faculty supervision in a university setting. The Institutes unique academic association is with Temple Universitys Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA. All surgical training takes place at Temple University under the supervision of the Misch Resnik faculty.

I was coming to the Streator office under Dr. Chirban since 1997. I stayed with the same location after Dr. Chirban passed away in 2008 and was bought out by Dr. John Conness. We've had regular dental care at this office for all these years from 1997 to 2017. I've had 2 prior upper jaw surgeries, left jaw joint surgery, and several sinus surgeries which is in my patient record. I had an apico here in 2013 with a direct communication from my tooth to my sinus after I had an infection abscess through my gum. I should have been referred to an oral surgeon with my history. I had the apico tooth pulled by another dentist and I was wondering if mercury was used on this apico. After the tooth was pulled I had mercury tattoos in my gums. When I asked questions I never was given direct answers such as what was used in the apico. I was told it was tried and true. I started having pain down my right front tooth in 2017. I was told nothing was wrong. I went to an endo and had a root canal as tooth #11 was severely infected. I started having jaw pain and sinusitis. Dr. Conness told me I wasn't in any pain as he could tell from the look on my face. It was recommended to me that he could root canal all my teeth by his current office manager. It was recommended from the dental hygienist that I find a different dentist in my area even though we drove over an hour each way all these years. When I was talking to the hygienist she said she couldn't understand me and I was mumbling. That is not a way you talk to your patients. I asked for a referral to Mayo Clinic as that was the best option and it needed to be done by my dentist. I was never given that. This is not how patients deserve to be treated. We deserve to be treated like our health matters. I did not want mercury in my mouth as I had the mercury fillings removed. Dental health is very important to physical health and when you can't figure out problems you need to refer patients out to someone with more expertise of the problem. Patients are the reason you have your business.
