The profession of dentistry has been a tradition in our family for over 90 years. In 1919, Dr. Leon J. Kinsley began our family practice in Cleveland, Ohio where it blossomed into a thriving business. His son, Dr. Leon D. (Bud) Kinsley, joined the practice in 1960 and helped transition the business to our current residence at 19433 Detroit Road in Rocky River, Ohio.
Today, the torch has been passed to Dr. Leon Kinsleys grandson, Dr. John L. Kinsley, who has helped to beautifully renovate our building and integrate modern technology in order to position our practice at the forefront of oral health providers.
History has shown that healthcare professionals, especially dentists, can only go as far as the current medical technology will allow. It is for this reason that we have invested in the state-of-the-art equipment that allows us to meet and exceed the levels of comprehensive care that our patients expect and deserve. Some examples include the use of rotary endodontic tools, intraoral cameras, and digital x-ray equipment.
The visual equipment such as our digital x-rays and intraoral cameras permit us to gain a greater picture of the mouth, and more specifically the teeth, and any conditions or disorders that may not be readily apparent. Additionally, it positions our patients in a way to co-plan their care alongside us, as our findings are far easier to share through this high definition imaging equipment.
Dr. Kinsley completed his training in Florida at The L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in 1992. Seven years later, he continued his education at The Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Study where he gained valuable experience and understanding of restorative dentistry and non-surgical TMJ therapy. The proficiency he gained from these two major institutions has helped shape the philosophy of care he applies today.

A few weeks ago, Dr Kinsley performed a root canal for a recent, non-English-speaking Afghan refugee suffering severe dental pain. Dr Kinsley spent many hours tackling her problem. Her pain was eliminated, her fear of a dentist dissipated, and her confidence in Dr. Kinsley established. Yesterday, Dr Kinsley met with the woman, her husband, an interpreter, and me to explain her many dental issues and further treatment needs and options. He spoke with great clarity, care, and compassion, using many visuals, and the assistance of an interpreter to explain step-by-step, phrase-by-phrase the needed steps to be taken. He paused after each phrase to allow the interpreter to translate and waited to be sure the woman and her husband clearly understood; he was careful to assess any hesitancy or anxiety. I just watched in awe! Then Dr. Kinsley, the woman and her husband developed a plan for treatment. A more knowledgeable, caring, kinder dentist cannot be found. I hope he'll forgive me for mentioning that his work has already entailed and will entail many, many hours of treatment, all done gratis, for this recent Afghan refugee. Sr. Rosemary Koesel, SND

I would highly recommend Dr. Kinsley. I had a dental emergency and he got me in quickly. He is a perfectionist and a very caring doctor. He did a beautiful job restoring my tooth and making a cap. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about overall dental health. One of the best dentists I have ever had!!

The hygienist was super nice, however, the doctor made me very uncomfortable and brought me into his office to show me images of peoples rotten mouth's. And then proceeded to tell me that he didn't want me to be afraid of the dentist when I grow up, as a grown woman. The doctor also told the hygienist she needed to hurry up and get moving as they were falling behind, in front of me. The new patient appointment took 2.5 hours and they charged me out of pocket over $400, even though I confirmed my insurance was covered, and said they would submit it to my insurance to pay me back. They were also trying to sell me on products they sold in the office the entire visit. Overall- would not recommend

Dr. Kinsley is the absolute best dentist I've ever been to. I used to have a debilitating fear of going to the dentist but he has made me feel so comfortable and as if I'm a part of his family. The work he's done on my teeth has been phenomenal. He's a dentist that truly cares about his patients on a deeper level than most. I used to be scared to even walk into a dentist's office but with Dr. Kinsley and his wife Jackie, I walk in and they make me feel right at home. I love him and his practice and I don't think I'll ever go to another dentist again. I truly appreciate him for the time, effort and care he's put in to helping me repair my teeth. I went here to get white spots removed from my front teeth, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Kinsley was very insightful and knowledgeable in the consultation and did an incredible job during the procedure. He even gave me a fitted mouth guard to protect my new smile!

I came across Dr John Kinsley while searching for a dentist that does regular and restorative dental care. Dr Kinsley and his office staff have gone way above and beyond any expectations I had!! I am working with Dr Kinsley and his team to restore my smile and help make my teeth and gums healthier. Dr Kinsley and his staff have gone out of their way to explain proper dental care and explain the issues throughly, that I was having with my teeth and what needs to be done to correct all the issues I was having. I feel Dr. Kinsley works hard, to make sure that the work he has done on my teeth, is done to perfection. He and his staff are so enjoyable to work with also. I actually look forward to going to the dentist! I don't think you will find a more competent, nice and informative dental office anywhere, around this area and beyond!

Dr. Kinsley and his team were wonderful! Everyone was so kind and you can tell they all care so much about their patients. Dr. Kinsley took his time talking to me and explaining to me everything that was going on and laying out all of the options I had. I have been to so many place for my issues with TMJ but Dr. Kinsley is the only person that I have talked to that actually cares about my concerns with my jaw. I am so happy I found him! Highly recommend!
