Brian Choi, DMD & John K. Sudick, DDS – Dentist in Whittier - General dentist in Whittier, CA

Dr. Choi and Dr. Sudick and their team of professionals make it their mission to extend and improve peoples lives through excellent oral health, dental education and friendly service. We are here to help you make the best choices for your dental care, and create a smile you can be proud of.

Our goal is to provide excellence in dentistry, using cutting-edge technology and the latest modern techniques to create new, natural-looking, beautiful smiles for all our patients. Through responsible patient care, we can build a healthier community one person at a time. (562) 698-8739 !

It is my greatest honor to join this team and be able to help provide the same standard of excellence that this team has always delivered. I earned my DMD from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in 2011, and completed my General Practice Residency at the VA Northern California Healthcare Hospital in Sacramento, California. Ive always been fascinated in learning the latest techniques and technologies which bring the greatest impact to dentistry. Dentistry is constantly evolving, and being able to bring those advancements to the patient translates to more options, better results, and better overall patient experiences. Ive also expanded my education beyond general dentistry and have expertise in many of the dental specialities.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy trying new things, new foods, and meeting new people. When I have time, I love to travel to new countries and explore. I have a maltese-poodle that I absolutely adore, and most of my time is spent with family. I can talk for days about fantasy football (Go Patriots!), and I also love to snowboard, listen to music, spend time painting as well as other creative endeavors.

It is extremely important to me that my patients are comfortable at all times. If you ever have any concerns, I invite you to take the time necessary to ask any questions at all and to feel at ease. Having full understanding while being comfortable is paramount no matter which professional you see, and I hope that I can provide that to you each and every time.

My patients are like family to me. I became a dentist to bring people together to be healthier, feel better about themselves, and have more fulfilling lives. More so, dentistry allows me to be an artist, a craftsman, and control my quality of workmanship. And everyone can enjoy my work when my patients smile.

I have enjoyed improving peoples smiles for over 33 years. In my early years as an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California (USC), I developed my skills and education in biology and psychology to aid me in caring for patients. While at USC Dental School, I developed my skills not just as a great clinician, but also as a doctor of concerned and comfortable dental care and treatment. This included language and listening skills that help to calm, inform and comfort my patients. My own experience with hypnosis for relaxation and treatment reinforced the importance of strong patient relationships and teaching patients how to be comfortable at the dentist.

As a Whittier dentist, I have developed relationships with the finest specialists to preserve peoples natural teeth. Although, I also provide care and treatment of the gums, root canals, extractions, and smile and implant design, I am very proud of the care and results of my team of orthodontists, periodontists (gums), endodontists (root canals), and oral surgeons that I call upon to consult and provide treatment for special conditions and needs. As one of the first dentists in 1986 to bring implant dentistry to Whittier, I replace missing teeth with a tooth-like replacement. With implant teeth, I create natural and comfortable smiles and bites when a natural tooth is lost to trauma or disease processes. As new technology is developed, I continue to expand my own knowledge of these specialized care areas with over 50 hours of continuing education per year.

Outside the dental office, I am a supporter of my community that includes donating my time, money and efforts to such organizations as the Greater Whittier YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, St. Mathias Soup Kitchen, Women and Childrens Crisis Center, Whittier Assistance League, Hillcrest Congregational Church, Habitat for Humanity, and many other worthwhile organizations. My family is most important to me. My wife, Pany, and I have taught our three wonderful children, Kirpa, Arjan, and Harbans, to give of their time and talents as well. This includes volunteering with Presbyterian Hospital, Whittier Public Library, Meals on Wheels, National Charity League, and other organizations. I am proud of their high honors and academic accomplishments in college. I am delighted to have my daughter, Kirpa, join my team as a dental hygienist two days a week. My son, Arjan, enjoys making movies and graduated from USC School of Cinematography. He is currently writing and pitching stories for film and television. Harbans recently graduated from Whittier College. He continues to work for the City of Whittier and the Whittier City Managers Office. My wife, Pany, helps with the office accounting and purchasing while volunteering for the Whittier Public Library Foundation as marketing manager. She also helps me with projects to benefit the Greater Whittier YMCA and other local groups.

In addition to enjoying family time and my work, I like networking for friends and patients as well as doing woodworking, hiking, skiing, kayaking, traveling, photography, music, and reading. Please ask me about these passions and dentistry on your next visit to our office.

Hello! My name is Cheryl. I am a sixth generation Californian, and a second-generation dental hygienist. My mother was a hygienist here in Whittier for 40 years. I began my career in 1978 as a dental technician. Although I loved working with my hands and constructing crowns and bridges, something was missing. I wanted to have direct connection with patients. In 1990, I graduated from Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. With the leaps of technology and the medical knowledge that oral health has on our bodies, I am proud to be a part of this exciting profession. I have worked as a team member in Dr. Sudicks dental practice for the past nine years. I find it very rewarding to be providing quality dentistry and education to our patients; to help them achieve optimal oral health as well as a smile they can be proud of. Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my two beautiful daughters, Joleen and Sarah, doing girlie things and just hanging out. I also enjoy art, quilting, gardening, reading, and spending time with friends and family. I sincerely hope Ill have the chance to meet you. Until then, keep smiling!

I started seeing Dr Sudick and now see Dr Choi, and both are outstanding dentists. I have "dental chair anxiety" and their care and professionalism put me at ease, making my dental care easier for me. This is an efficiently run office that respects my time as they always meet the appointment time. The dental hygienist I see is also great, and the staff in general is super friendly. I feel lucky to have such a great dental practice to go to!

I was recommended to Dr. Choi by my daughter. The whole staff is very friendly and professional. I had my teeth cleaned and it was quick and painless!! I also had my two teeth crowned there and Dr. Choi was very gentle, professional and always let me know what my options are. I'm very happy with whole process and would highly recommend this office.

I was hesitant to come here based on the couple reviews that weren't great. But I came in loved the staff the service provided by the doctor. I guess to each their own with the reviews from people stating they have issues, I appreciated the explanation that insurances aren't transparent no other office I went to has taken the time to explain the procedure and the insurance part of it. Everyone here was genuine and caring they really do want what is best for the patients. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who is looking for an honest and caring dental office.

Beware. I was told I would not be billed for x-rays, although i told them i could provide recent ones. Dr. Choi's staff said not to worry about billing and that they "had a way around that" Four months later they bill me for needless camera photos and xrays. I never went back, because Dr. Choi was foisting invisalign on me, when i had other urgent dental work needed. My teeth are not crooked! Did not go in for cosmetic dental work. I never went back, so 4 months later i am billed. Going back to my old dentist. I never had surprise bills with him. Beware.

Very professional and skilled, top to bottom. Cannot recommend them more highly. Dr. Choi is so thorough and informative, and lets you know every step of the way what's going on so there are no surprises. Very calming, as well. Thanks to the entire team.

Great place! I just had my first appointment with Dr Choi. He is kind and professional and his staff is warm and welcoming. Dr Choi took the time to answer all of my questions and provided me with a workable plan to get my smile back. He was mindful of the costs involved (I need a lot of work), so I was offered a affordable alternatives and options for my treatment, which I very much appreciated. I think I found the ideal dental office. This place will treat you right!

Such an awful experience on more than one occasion. I went in for a routine cleaning when it was discovered that a root canal was needed. Alright, no big deal. I was kind of expecting this as I had been experiencing pain in the area leading up to the visit. While I was having the root canal done I started to feel as if something wasn't right. I've had root canals before I noticed that Dr. Choi and his assistant were spending a lot of time on it. It turned out that a piece of medical equipment had broken and lodged into my jaw that he could not retrieve. Dr. Choi could not complete the procedure and referred me to a periodontist that he works with to have the piece of equipment removed. A few days later I'm at the periodontist checking in. Neither Dr. Choi nor his front office mentioned to me that the periodontist would be out of my insurance network when they scheduled the appointment for me but here I was, worried about potential infection and needing to get the broken piece of dental equipment removed right away and no other appointments available so I agreed to move forward with the procedure. The periodontist was also unable to remove the piece of medical equipment that Dr. Choi broke off into me but assured me that there was no risk for infection. So an unsuccessful procedure with little reassurance that cost me $1,700 OUT OF POCKET since I was referred to an out of network specialist. When I told Dr. Choi about what happened he was very apologetic and agreed to complete the root canal at no additional cost to me (would have been about $800) which was a nice gesture however it still left me $900 in the red. Once the procedure was completed I was scheduled for my next cleaning which included two fillings. I was told over the phone that my co-pay would be about $200 for the cleaning which I agreed to pay. When I checked in, I was told again that my co-pay would be $200 which I paid at the end of the visit. As I was leaving, the office informed me that there was some type of oversight on their end and that I would need to pay an additional $900 because my benefits were maxed out. $900!!!! That was most likely because although Dr. Choi agreed to cover the second half of my root canal at no extra charge to me, I'm sure they were more than happy to bill my insurance for the cost which the front office somehow didn't account for. I very rarely leave negative business reviews but between the piece of dental equipment broken into my gums and the front office billing errors my experience with Dr. Choi and his office was nothing but bad experience after bad experience and as a result would never recommend this establishment to anyone.

I have always feared dental visits because of bad experiences in the past, until I found Dr. Choi and Dr. Sudick in Whittier. Since day one (2019), Dr Sudick and Dr Choi had made me feel comfortable, welcome and most importantly happy with my work! Everyone in this office ( front &back staff) are so pleasant and easy to talk to. I will not go anywhere else! Thank you Dr Sudick, Dr Choi, Alex, Lori and the hygienist!

Before I choose this dentist I did my homework. I decided to come here based on great reviews and just a gut feeling I would be happy and I was right. I have been coming here for a year now and it's not just the friendly staff making you feel welcome from the minute you talk through the door or not making you wait to see the dentist but what is overall most important is having a dentist who can take care of all your dental needs and leaving your teeth feeling better with no pain. I have seen both dentists who are both great and will patiently answer every question you have. And must also mention the hygienist who is great too.

Hands down the best dentist office I've ever been to! Everyone was so kind and professional--receptionists, hygienists, and docs. They were very informative and explained everything thoroughly. They genuinely care about their patients and provide exceptional service. They referred me to an excellent endodontist as well. Thanks so much for everything!

I had so much pain prior to my dental work. Everyone here is amazing! The entire process was explained in detail. I'm very pleased with the turnout. I no longer have pain and can feel assured they will take care of any future needs. Super friendly staff. The only problem was my teeth.

I have been to so many different dental offices over the years and NEVER have I been so HAPPY as I am right now. The team is truly amazing, kind, encouraging, considerate, always welcoming and they respect your time and do everything possible to help you. It is like a family atmosphere and they make you feel part of their work family. The office is so clean, they don't push you into doing unnecessary procedures. I can't tell you enough what a blessing it is to have a dentist office that you ACTUALLY LOOK FORWARD to going to!!!! Most of all I have never had to go back for any work they did and love my smile!!
