Im native to the area having grown up in Spokane WA and have been providing orthodontic care inHayden, Sandpoint, Rathdrumand surrounding communities since 1999. Im a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the US and Germany as a medical and laboratory technician. After the Army I returned to the Spokane area and completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Washington University. My family moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin where I attended Marquette University and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and was Valedictorian of my dental class while maintaining an evening job with a local dentist.
After dental school I was accepted to a highly competitive orthodontic residency at Marquette University having received a certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science degree. I was fortunate to take over an existing practice in Coeur D Alene after graduate school. While practicing I went through a voluntary process to become Board Certified with the distinction of Diplomate. I feel orthodontic treatment involves continuededucation and the use of proven and modern techniques/materials. As a member of an implant study club, Im able to provide the necessary care for adult and young patients who are missing adult teeth and need implants or extensive restorations.

I was slow to get on board with straightening my teeth. After a brief consultation, I felt confident to get braces. This is a great group of people who know what they are doing. I am so happy & grateful that John Hintz helped me get the smile I always wanted.

Our family has had three members join the Hintz family of orthodontics and couldn't be more pleased with, not only the results, but the care in between. My wife and daughter both had work done, and because the company I worked for paid a significant amount towards braces I asked Dr Hintz what it would take for me to get one of my teeth starightened - the question he asked changed my life forever. He asked if I had trouble breathing, which in fact I did, I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea several years prior. He made an appointment with an orthidontic surgeon (Dr Cullum in CDA) and through a CAT scan it was revealed that I had a compromised airway, I was only getting about half my air. I now have had jaw surgery to correct that and am on my way to a nice smile and being able to breathe again!! I can't say enough good about Dr Hintz's attention to detail in all aspects of orthodontics! Tim and Lisa West, Bonner's Ferry.
