He graduated from Virginia Tech with honors in 1999. He then graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth Universitys School of Dentistry in 2003. After a one year preliminary internship, Dr. Truitt completed his four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency from VCU in 2008. He entered private practice in 2008 and started Truitt Oral Surgery in April of 2012. Heis Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Truitt enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny and two sons. He is a competitive Sporting Clays shooter. He has and continues to win many championships throughout the East Coast and beyond. He loves the outdoors. If he is not in the office, he is most likely on the sporting clays course, hiking or at the beach with his family.
Rachel is our Lead Assistant. She is an invaluable part of our team. Her caring manner and her excellent surgical assisting skills are just a couple of the reasons we love her! She is very knowledgeable about all the procedures we do. She makes our patients feel at-ease and they know they are in great hands on surgery day.
Taylor loves what she does. She came to us with a background in Oral Surgery and has an exceptionally high level of care for her patients. She always has a smile and is super fun loving. Shes the bright spot in everybodys day. She is certified in ACLS/PALS and Radiology. When Taylor is away from the office, she is spending time with her fiance and her pet beagle.
Jamie came to our practice with a background in Oral Surgery. She is great at putting patients at ease with her calm demeanor and high level of professionalism. She is a certified dental assistant, as well as being certified in ACLS/PALS and radiology. In her free time, she loves listening to live music, spending time with her family and enjoying a glass of wine.
Melissa is the first person you will meet when you visit our office. She has years of experience in the field and is a great asset. She has a very warm and caring manner. In her own words, her number one goal is to be the reason somebody smiles today!
Chellie is a terrific asset to our team. Shehasa wealth of knowledge about the intricacies of insurance policies, which have become more and more complicated over the past years. She is the person you want on your side when it comes to getting the most out of your insurance benefits. She personally verifies every patients insurance benefits and explains them in an easy-to-understand manner.

Very nice people. I was super nervous having to be put under for a tooth removal. But Dr. Truitt and his team did an awesome job at keeping me calm and assured I would be fine. They did an awesome job. 2 days after my surgery and I have no pain!

Best dental care I've ever received. I've had some traumatic experiences in the past but Dr. Truitt and his team made me comfortable. I had my wisdom teeth pulled and was nervous. They wiped away my tears, reassured me that everything will be okay.

I am in the process of getting an implant with Dr. Truitt. I highly recommend him and his practice! Each time I've been in his office, his staff has been competent, friendly and patient with questions I've had. Dr. Truitt was excellent each step of the implant process-- he explained the procedure to me and then during the surgery he minimized the pain and used his staff to help him complete the procedure efficiently and expertly. The after-care followup was also impressive. I have one more step to go in the implant process and I'm grateful to have Dr. Truitt and his group taking care of me!

Today, I had a complicated tooth extraction and I kept moving my head during the surgery. (Nervous) It was apparent that I was taxing doctor Truett's patiences. He and his staff were very nice and professional during the whole ordeal. I was pain free and comfortable during the whole surgery. Dr. Truitt and his staff are GREAT!!!!, if you need dental surgery this is the place.!!!!!!!!!

I have seen and had a tooth/teeth pulled by more then a handful of dentist and surgeons. I have to say, by far, Dr. Truitt is the best and gentlest surgeon, hands down! When I had my last few top teeth pulled to insert a full denture I went here. It was quick, pain free, and I could still feel my nose (that was my biggest fear feeling like I was unable to breath from the numbing). He used a short lasting numbing medicine by request as well. There were no stiches needed either; thank goodness to his excellent care. I felt extremely blessed to have a 5 star surgeon work on my dental issues and still show such compassion. I have recommended his wonderful an angelic team and him to numerous people. If anyone needs a dental surgeon Dr. Truitt is by far the best of the best in all of Virginia without a doubt. Thank you Dr. Truitt and your team for going above and beyond.

I went to Dr. Truitt because I required a minor surgery on my lip. I trusted my care to him and in return he said untrue, unflattering and unnecessary things about me on record. He also left me with permanent numbness in my lip. I would never recommend this surgeon to anyone. I'm sure it is very easy to find a better person to place your trust in as well as a better surgeon. I wish I had never met him.

Today I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. It was such an awesome experience! I was extremely nervous, and Dr. Truitt and his staff was amazing with assuring that I would be just fine. I have not been in much pain since I have left there today. I've felt amazing all day! They did an awesome job. If i ever needed anything else done, I wouldn't hesitate to come back!

I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years and I'm so glad this was the place I chose. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth, one of which was infected. When my insurance initially tried to deny the claim, their staff went to bat for me and made appeals immediately so I could get the care that I needed. When I went in for the surgery itself, I was so nervous that I cried in the chair. It was my first surgery and first time going under anesthesia. Dr. Truitt and his staff were so kind and comforting. They asked me what I was scared of and assured me that my concerns were valid and explained the safeguards in place to prevent any harm from coming to me. When I got home, I had two different staff members call to check on me during my recovery. If you're the type of person who has anxiety around doctors visits, then this is absolutely the place I'd recommend.

Dr. Truitt handled an issue my son had on his inner lip that neither our dentist or pediatrician wanted to address. I was very impressed with Dr. Truitt's knowledge and demeanor and he made the whole process very smooth, and here we are a year later with no further lip issues.
