While in high school, Dr. Russos orthodontist discovered a wisdom tooth cyst that required the surgery and placement of two dental implants, which were still a newer technology in the 1980s. This firsthand experience led him to become interested in dentistry, and he ended up shadowing some local dentists, physicians, and even a hospital during high school and college. One of the dentists he job-shadowed was Dr. William Hutchinson, who was the founder of this dental office. After finishing his dental training, Dr. Russo returned to his hometown to work under Dr. Hutchinsons mentorship and create a partnership with him for several years until his retirement. Today, he couldnt imagine having any other job!
Dr. Russo attended Boone High School and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Florida. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine with honors from the University of Florida in 1993, followed by the completion of an AEGD Residency at Wright-Patterson Medical Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He served for two years as a general dental officer in the United States Air Force before entering private practice. He still regularly completes continuing educations through the Florida Dental Convention, the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and other avenues. In particular, he has undergone the Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Implant Continuum with the Implant Educators University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2016.
Dr. Russo is happily married with two children and a dog. As a family, they enjoy going to the Florida beaches and seeing all of the natural wonders of this state via biking, hiking, and kayaking.
