Dr. John Crisleroffersan array of dentistry servicesto patientsin theRio Rancho, NM-area. Dr.Crisleris an Indiana native, but has chosen New Mexico as his home since 1977. He graduated from Indiana University in 1973 and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1977 from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He worked on the staff of Project Concern International as a dentist in Window Rock, Arizona in 1977 and 1978. He served as a dental officer with the U.S. Public Health Service, Indian Health Service in Navajo, New Mexico on the Navajo Reservation from 1978 until 1980. In 1980, he and his wife, Susan, moved to Rio Rancho to live, to establish a dental practice, and to raise a family. The Crislers have two children, Dr. Anne, an optometrist, and Timothy. Dr. Crisler and his son were active in the Boy Scouts of America, and both have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Dr. Crisler is an active and award winning photographer, inspired by the beauty of the Southwest, and by beauties discovered in world travels.

Dr. Crisler is a founding member of the Southwest Academy of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and he is also a founding member of the New Mexico Dental Implant Study Club. These groups of dentists meet several times each year to network information, further their knowledge and techniques in the latest developments in dentistry.

As an active community member, Dr. Crisler is a charter member of the Rio Rancho Chamber of Commerce and is a Chamber Ambassador, celebrating new businesses in the City of Vision. He also serves on the CNM (Central NM Community College) Dental Assisting Advisory Board. Dr. Crisler and members of his staff have participated in the first five New Mexico Missions of Mercy, providing dentistry for people that could not otherwise afford any dentistry. Dr. Crisler served as a co-chair of the 2014 Mission of Mercy held in Rio Rancho. He also had a key leadership position in the 2017 Mission of Mercy held in Albuquerque.

Cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry are important parts of the comprehensive dentistry that our practice offers. Dr. Crisler has served as President of the New Mexico Academy of General Dentistry. He earned the Academy of General Dentistrys Mastership Award in 1996. Albuquerque, The Magazine listed Dr. Crisler in its September, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014 editions as one of Albuquerques Top Dentists as voted by their peers.

Tawnie joined Dr. Crislers practice in June of 2021. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute in 2012, receiving her certification as a Dental Assistant. Tawnie was a chairside dental assistant for several years and she enjoyed working with patients. Taking a deeper interest in the inner workings of dental practices, Tawnie made the move towards the front office, where she thoroughly enjoys working with the patients, insurance groups, and office management as a whole. Tawnie loves being in the dental field, and the fulfillment she receives participating in each patients dental health and success. Tawnie grew up in Corrales and adores being part of the Northwest Albuquerque community and culture. In her free time, she loves to enjoy activities with her family and friends and especially enjoys traveling.

Bella grew up in the small town of Bernalillo, New Mexico with her two younger brothers and then later moved to Rio Rancho. After graduating from high school, she joined the dental assisting program at CNM and was placed at Dr. Crislers office for her clinical externship. She recently completed the dental assisting program and is now an important part of Dr. Crislers team. Bellas goal is to provide the best dental care and experience possible. In her free time, Bella enjoys snowboarding, shopping, and traveling.

Chandra was born and raised in Albuquerque, and is now a resident of Rio Rancho. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. During College she worked along side her dad in his local dental laboratory. She is passionate about building strong and trusting relationships with her patients. It is her goal to provide a pleasant and judgement free experience. Your comfort is her top priority. She is here to partner with her patients to help them achieve their dental health goals and have a healthy smile for a lifetime. Outside of work she is an avid fly fisher, and enjoys spending time in the outdoors with her husband and daughter.
