Dr. John Chung immigrated to the United States from South Korea at a young age for his education and a chance to pursue the American Dream. He obtained his bachelors in Chemistry from U.C. Davis while financially supporting himself through college as a landscaper/gardener. Going back an forth between South Korea and America to support his family, serve in the Korean military, and earn his education. He was eventually accepted into Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Dentistry in 1989 where the reality of his dream started to come together. There, Dr. Chung met his lovely wife Yesook who was a Registered Nurse at the time. Once Dr. Chung graduated, he decided to pursue his own private practice with the help of his wife. Eventually, Yesook left her nursing career to help manage the family practice while also raising 3 boys.
Chung Family Dentistry could not be what it is today without the support from family, friends, mentors, and the local community. John Chung did not let difficult circumstances prevent him from achieving his dreams. He always had hope and a willing heart. Through his faith, perserverance, and strong work ethic, Dr. Chung has come a long way since his small rental office space.

I highly recommend this practice for all your dental work. I had all of my teeth pulled with no problem. Then I was fitted with dentures. The staff are all very efficient and caring.

He put fillings in everyone of my teeth. I didn't have bad teeth. Matter of fact he said something about my teeth not taking the fillings drilled them out and started over. This was all because I was young and had no insurance at the time. He knew I was paying cash. I had a beautiful smile. Here I am years later my mouth is destroyed. I would advise against seeing him.

Just left the dentist's office & will NOT be returning by any means! I went in for a simple examination, cleaning & filling. After sitting in the chair, I was lowered too far. As a man of size, I advised Dr. Chung that I needed to be raised for comfort, he exclaimed, "You just need to exercise." I immediately had him raise the chair & cancelled the procedure. I told him that he was rude & unprofessional. He immediately gave me an apology laden with guilt like a scolded child. My point is, if he were a true ethical medical professional, such a comment would never have been uttered by him. To say the least, I am disappointed AND disgusted at the same time. You would think a so-called medical professional would know how to treat a patient of 14 years. Good bye & good riddance. To all who read this, think twice about patronizing this establishment. Pay attention to the reviews!

So all the dentists around here don't accept Medicaid for working adults we have to pay out of pocket only good thing about this was the secretary was very nice on the phone

I have been going to Dr. Chung for many years, he and his staff have always been very friendly and professional, there has never been long waiting. Dr. Chung worked with me to optimize treatment plan and avoided unnecessary procedure. My hygienist Anh is so awesome, she is very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and considerate; she does fantastic and thorough cleaning that felt gentle and makes my teeth feel so clean and fresh afterward. My wife goes here and they are 10 times better than any of my previous dentists. Friendly, efficient, and wholeheartedly care about your dental needs. I would recommend them to anyone.

I went to this practice for several years and really enjoyed the dental hygenist that worked with me there. Recently, however, I was recommended for 7 fillings. I had no dental work done in the past several years and, in general, have had very little dental work done in my life. No red flag was shown at the previous X-ray or cleaning. I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist in the area who told me no fillings were needed and I had no cavities at all. This is very disconcerting and disappointing to me.

Set up appt for cleaning..... was canceled without even calling me!! Showed up and they acted like they had no clue what I was doing there!! Never went bk!!

First time visit on March 25, 2020. Front Desk clerk was friendly and pleasant. The nurse that took my Xrays was very pleasant and professional. But Dr Chung was VERY UNPLEASANT He came in and sat down and began to adjust my chair. He never introduced himself or asked what kind of problems I was experiencing. Worst experience and unprofessionalism I've experienced in my adult life. Im 64 years old.
