As a dental professional, I stay up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options for my patients. As a doctor, I recognize that my patients are unique individuals who have placed a great deal of trust in me and my team. That is just one reason why I value each and every patient relationship.
Dr. Chan graduated, with high honors, from the University of California, Davis in 1998 with a Bachelors Degree in neurophysiology and behavior and in 2001, graduated from the University of the Pacific in San Francisco with his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He practiced dentistry for 10 years in So. San Francisco, before beginning his practice in Livermore.
Tobi joined Dr. Chans team in August of 2019 before her predecessor, Kathy, retired after 33 years with the practice. She married her high school sweetheart in 1995 and they live in Pleasanton with their 3 fur babies. Tobi earned her Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) License in 1994 and has over 30 years dental (which includes 20 years office manager) experience. Some of her hobbies include: Traveling, gardening, watercolor painting, crafting, bowling, reading, decorating and camping.
Phuong Thu Marrs, Dental Assistant, lives inthe Central Valleywith her husband Michael, a published poet, and two boys. Thu received an Associate Degree in Art from Mission College in Santa Clara and dental x-ray license from San Jose City College. She has been working in the dental field since 1997 and with this practice since 1999. Thu loves to see the bright smiles of her patients after treatment. At home, She participates in her older sons basketball intramurals and scout activities. Thu and her youngest, special needs son are learning sign language together. She also loves to read her Kindle, play guitar, bake cupcakes and grow English roses. Thu is a member of the MOM club at Saint Bernards Catholic School.
Kristine Arnold, Registered Dental Hygienist, lives in Livermore with her husband, Dan, and their two young boys. She attended Chico State and received her dental hygiene degree from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1995. She has been with this practice since 1995. Kristie enjoys the relationships she has formed with her fellow employees and the many patients she has cared for over the years. She strives to provide comprehensive care and education in a friendly, patient-oriented environment. When not practicing dental hygiene, Kristie likes to spend time exercising, attending her childrens sporting activities, boating, camping and riding all terrain vehicles.

I went to Dr. Chan on November 2021; I went to him because my family and I had moved to Livermore from Seattle, WA. In Seattle I had started quite a bit of dental work in an effort to getting my smile back after my motorcycle accident. Unfortunately, my dentist office in Seattle shut down and my dental file was nowhere to be found. Dr. Chan and his staff were awesome in working with me to figure out what were the types of dental implants used so he could finish the work. After two months of trial and error we were ready to proceed with getting my smile back (about 5 implants) in all the work was going to be Approximate $18,000 out of pocket, with the first $13,000 being due in February 2022. Unfortunately, in February 2022 I had stroke, and was in no condition to get dental work done. In March 2022 I was sent a letter to my office from Dr. Chan informing me that because I had not reached out to them to pay the $13,000, they were dropping me and my family. The letter noted that I had a balance of $300.00, that I needed to pay in order for them to send me my dental file. I came back to work for the first time in 4 months on Monday, I literally had a mountain of mail to go through, however when I got to Dr. Chan's letter, I was disappointed, but I understood the logic. However, what I was not prepared for was the conversation I had with Toby, when I called her this afternoon (06/2/2023) I gave her my name and said that I would like to pay my balance of $300.00, she informed me that my account had been written off so she could not take my money. I explained that I had a stroke and unfortunately did not get the letter till today, however was more than prepared to pay the $300.00 so I could have my dental file sent to me. She said that, again they had written off the account and there is nothing I could do. That I should find a new dentist and start over. I apologiesed for the inconvenience and hung up. That is my experience with Masterful dentistry.

I have been coming to Dr. Chan for many years. The office is beautiful, and they decorate for every holiday. The staff is always friendly and greet you by name. Couldn't be happier.

I've been a patient of Dr. Chan's since he took over from the previous dentist at the old office (who was my dentist my entire life until that point). Dr. Chan has consistently provided excellent care for me and my whole family for years and years. I moved 45 miles away a few years ago and tried a new dentist, and after that impersonal and questionable service, I knew it was a no brainer to just drive the extra few miles. Whenever I visit Dr. Chan, I know I will always be treated with the utmost care and top-of-the-line treatment.

My first experience with Masterful Dentistry went very well. The office is beautiful, the front desk is very nice and informative, the assistant is very nice and good at her job. Dr. Chan is great, very intelligent and overall a great dentist.

Excellent service , explained all my options and I'm so happy with my procedure. Everyone in the office are so friendly and I felt welcomed . When I'm in a dental office I usually feel high anxiety so this was a new experience for me ..I will make this my new dental office and will refer everyone I know . Dr Chan is amazing Thank you

Dr. Chan and his wonderful staff have been taking care of my teeth since the start of his full time operations in Livermore. He and his staff have a great bedside manner. They are lighthearted, intelligent, precautious (important when wanting to keep one's teeth fir a long time), and pain free! I am always at ease with Dr. Chan. Kristi has been cleaning my teeth for at least 15 years now. She is awesome! I trust all of them at the office to take care of me and safeguard against any dental issues. Rock on, Dustin

Beautiful , new, clean office . Friendly , knowledgeable , helpful staff !! Laura , Kristine , Thu(sp?) , Toby are great team .. Dr. Chan did very thorough exam of mouth ;teeth gums, lymph nodes, muscles , jaw ,went over X-rays I had 4/21 ... in detail and correlated findings. Discussed teeth health first then cosmetic approaches. ( I made appt for cosmetic ) He pays attention to detail and listens to his patients He explained the procedure and set expectations Has great analogies (!) ... I will be going back in November for Bioclear . Happiness is new teeth during a pandemic

Dr. Chan has a gentle approach and is great at explaining his techniques when I have questions.The staff creates a fun environment and the facilities are clean and new. My hygienist gracefully accommodated my request to use the cavitron. The dental assistant took my xrays without hurting my gums. I would recommend this practice to anyone, especially someone who is afraid of dentistry.

Dr chan doesn't force unnecessary treatments like so many other dentists and will tell you honestly what you need. Hygienists are friendly and gentle and I've always left happy knowing that I finally found a dentist I can trust. I would highly recommend this office.

Amazing customer service and friendly office. Thorough exams, careful treatment plans explained, without any feeling of rush or pressure from a patient standpoint. Love the staff. After trying several dental offices in the Livermore area we are here to stay. Can't recommend Dr. Chan and his office staff highly enough!
