I received my DDS from the University of California, at San Francisco in 1988, then joined the Army where I served for 6 years as a dental officer. I served mostly in Mannheim Germany but gained valuable experience providing emergency and surgical care for soldiers and their families while they trained and readied for deployment.

Upon returning to California, I served at Fort Ord. After leaving the service I became a partner in a dental group in Santa Cruz, until I decided to open my own office in 1999. I have lived in Scotts Valley for 22 years and I love it here. My wife is a Registered Nurse, Both of my kids attended our local public schools.

I am a adjunct clinical instructor for the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene Program. I also have been a volunteer instructor for the dental assisting training program though the Santa Cruz County Regional Occupational Program since 1994. I have participated in providing dentistry to local Veterans and dental health screenings at local schools by members of the Monterey bay Dental Society. I am a member of the Kiwanis of the (SV/SLV) Valleys .

I am a member ofthe American, California, and Monterey Bay Dental Societies,as well as theScotts Valley Chamber of Commerce. I have served on the board of the Monterey Dental Society. Additionally, I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, of the Academy of Osseointegration, and I am a certified CEREC CAD-CAM Provider . I have advanced training in the placement of Lumineers, Invisilign, and the MDI mini implant system. My hobbies include Skiing, jogging, beer making and astronomy.

Dr. Kevin Ma is a Scotts Valley native. He grew up here and attended local schools. He explored different fields of health care before deciding to become a dentist. After dental school, he worked locally before joining our team. He is married to Lindsay, a labor and delivery nurse. They have a darling young son named Jameson. Dr. Ma enjoys spending time with them as well as hiking, traveling, skiing and going for walks

Dr. Shirin is happy to be returning to Santa Cruz County. She attended Soquel High School and Cabrillo College then moved to San Jose with her family in 1981. She finished her undergraduate studies at San Jose State University, followed by her dental school graduation from the University of California, at SanFrancisco in 1988.Dr. Shirin has always wanted to come back home to this area. After twenty five years of the private practice of dentistry in San Jose, she is thrilled to be working with Dr. Stevens, her dental school classmate and to provide dental hygiene in this high tech office surrounded by caring and devoted staff. She is passionate about helping people attain optimum dental health which leads to a happier and healthier life.Dr. Shirin enjoys hanging out at the beach, reading, dancing and a good glass of wine. She likes to have fun traveling with her partner in life Dave and taking walks with their Labradoodle Leo.

Sherry Jo Simoni is our front office coordinator. She was born and raised in Indiana and moved to California in 1978. She enjoys travel, sailing, fishing, cooking and spending time with both of her children. She loves football and is enthusiastic at cheering for the 49ers. She became interested in working in the dental field after a childhood accident with a dental injury when she was afraid to be seen by a Dentist. Years later, she felt the need to help people deal with similar fears and attain dental health and beautiful smiles.

Melissa Rosa was born in Manila in the Philippines. She came to the United States in 1989 and first lived in San Mateo, California. She worked as a certified nurse aide and then became a registered dental assistant because she had worked as a Dentist in the Philippines. She met her husband Jim on a blind date and they married a month later in 1996. She enjoys hiking, going to the beach and local parks, baking and cooking.

Alexis Castro Oliva is a native Santa Cruzan. She became a dental assistant because her sister works in the dental field and enjoys it so she thought she would too. She enjoys spending time with her family, doing crafts and roller skating. She loves animals and has a 9 year old dog named Mickey.

Ilga is a Santa Cruz native and was born and raised in Scotts Valley, CA. She graduated from the Cabrillo College Dental Hygiene program in 2021. She has always enjoyed working closely with people and decided to pursue dental hygiene after exploring different healthcare fields. Her favorite part of being an RDH is connecting with patients and providing patient education. In her spare time she enjoys cooking new recipes, exploring nature, and singing in the local community choir Pacific Voices.
