Dr. John Batlle received his undergraduate education at the University of Florida where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1979. He then attended the UF College of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1983. After graduating, he worked for the State of Florida and received his commission in the Navy Reserve Dental Corps. He was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 2002 where he served as the dentist for Detainee Operations and Navy Hospital GTMO. Some of Dr. Batlles many other interesting Navy assignments include humanitarian operations in Kodiak Island, Alaska, and Horn of Africas Kenya. Dr. Batlle is a skilled photographer whose office is adorned with images from these adventures. He recently retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve after 26 years of service.
Dr. Batlle is married to his wife, Laura. She is a dental hygienist who teaches in the dental programs at Sante Fe College and is an aerobics instructor at Gainesville Health and Fitness. They have two sons, Jonathan and Dylan, who graduated from the University of Florida and are now Dental Students at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. When not serving his patients in Lake City, Dr. Batlle typically volunteers on dental mission trips annually and donates his time at the Sante Fe Colleges WeCare Program or on the Florida Baptist Association Mobile Dental Bus.He works through this through Trinity United Methodist Church or the UF College of Dentistry, where he teaches oral surgery to the dental students. He enjoys workouts at the gym, running half marathons, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, surfing and golf.
Jill has been with us for 12 years. She is our go-to person! If you have a question, she has the answer. Her ability to transition from assisting Dr. Batlle to working the front office is flawless. She has a heart of gold, helping wherever needed without anyone having to ask. All the patients know and love her and that southern accent! Thank you Jill, we could not do it without you!f.
Tabatha has been with us for 6 years. She has such an eye for the aesthetic appearance of your smile! She pursues perfection for all of our patients cases. Not only is Tabatha awesome at what she does here for us, but she is also raising 4 boys and attending college; all with that beautiful smile of hers! We are so thankful for you Tabatha and could not do it without you!
Penny has been with us for 11 years. She does not meet a stranger and knows all of our patients so well! Her dedication and loving personality make her a great asset to our team. She proves dental assisting is more than just technical, its creating a lasting friendship with the patient as well. Thank you Penny for all of your hard work!
Igraduated from Sante Fe Colleges Hygiene Program and have 10years experience. I love being a hygienist, because it is rewarding to see the improvement in my patients dental health. My patients have come to realize over time how important it is, and how dental health makes a difference in their overall health. I really appreciate Dr. Batlle, because he does quality work and stands behind it.

The dental hygienist, Whitney, was very professional and informative. I have been going to Dr. Batell for many years and would highly recommend Southwest Family Dentistry to anyone.

Excellent all the way. I came in on an emergency for help on teeth and they all were outstanding taking care of me. Staff evens takes time out and talked with me and the boss (Gerda) wife.

I had a chipped tooth that Dr Batlle fixed. Dr Batlle has a soft touch. I barely felt the shot to numb my mouth. He has a very pleasant chair-side manner. Everyone in the office greeted me by name and was very patient focused.

Absolutely the BEST dentistry in Lake City. They are out of network for my insurance but I pay additional to be seen here and it is well worth it. Made getting a crown/root canals painless and scheduling is always simple and easy.

DR. BATLLE AND HIS STAFF ARE WONDERFUL. UNFORTUNETLY I WAS IN NEED OF AN EXTRACTION AND HE PERFORMED VERY CLOSE TO PAINLESSLY. DURING THE PROCEDURE HE AND HIS STAFF WERE ALWAYS MAKING SURE OF MY COMFORT.

The place is full of smiling eyes. Except for all the obvious reasons it's really pleasant being there, It was my first visit and honestly I thought I was going to spend big $ but he talked me out of it. Really honest. I'll be going back. He's my kind of doctor. And love those smiling eyes.

Each appointment has been an exceptional professional experience. Dr Battel and staff are a great team as the assistants have unique training. Dr Battel is an amazing doctor which gives me complete confidence in his skills. I'm always comfortable: sun glasses and a blanket if cold.

Moved recently to Lake City and needed a dentist for an emergency, was trying to get everywhere an appointment but couldn't get one until March, was looking even for a Dentist in Gainesville but by a strike of luck got an immediate appointment with Southwest Family Dentistry and couldn't be happier, Dr Batlle and his staff are extraordinary, professional and cordial. I am so glad I found such a great dentist in this area, will recommend my wife to change her appointment she had with another dentist to this office instead

When I called SW Family Dentistry a live person answered the phone which i think is important for any medical/dental office with a front desk of 2++. No playing phone tag for days. I had broken a tooth & Heather gave me an appt the same day even tho I was not in pain. Dr Batlle is friendly, confident, & treats his staff with kindness! He gives great anesthesia :) I appreciate all their kindness & concern! Thank you

I chipped my front tooth only days before graduation. Dr. Batlle was my first choice in LKC since he's a cosmetic dentist and I wanted my smile to be just like before for the big upcoming event. I knew if he couldn't get me in I would have to resort to any dentist in the area to repair the tooth which made me nervous. Luckily they were able to squeeze me into their busy schedule the following day! Him and his assistant did a phenomenal job with the color match and my tooth looks better than before the chip! I'm very pleased with my smile and the service they provided.

The staff at Southwest Family Dental is amazing! Once you walk in the door the first time, everyone knows your name. They remember who you are, what you might have talked about from your last visit (6months ago). It's so nice to walk in the door, and to be greeted by your name. Everyone is always friendly and helpful. I have been going here for about 3 years and the whole family goes now, even the youngest who started going here around 11/12, and she loves it here. Dr.Batlle has eased my nerves they are normally through the roof and I want to jump out of my body. I'm no longer walking out of a dentist office crying from my nerves being a wreck. Now, I walk in this dentist office now with no worries and I can sit back, relax and let Dr. Battle do what he does best. Everyone always makes sure I'm comfortable. I have never left this office disappointed. You will not have a bad dental experience here. All the ladies here are very talented! And the color matching of a crown is exceptional. Nobody would every be able to tell the difference. I can keep going on about how amazing Dr. Batlle and his staff are, you need to see for yourself, when you do, you won't go anywhere else, everywhere else just doesn't compare. Thank you Dr. Batlle and ladies for all you do at this office to make the best dental experience a person can have.
