Although I was born in the Bronx and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia, I am closely connected to life in Northern Virginia first arriving to the area in 1993 when I became a boarding student at The Madeira School in McLean. As a small-town girl, I embraced the diversity and fast-paced energy of the area and loved being so close to Washington, DC. Ive always known that I would call this area home.
After high school, I moved north to Saratoga Springs, New York where I earned an honors degree in Computer Science with minor studies in Business and Expository Writing from Skidmore College. I quickly realized that IT was not my thing and landed my first real job in Marketing and Graphic Design for the Society of Nuclear Medicine in Reston. After several years of working closely with medical professionals, I recognized my passion for patient care and decided to hit the books once again and pursue dentistry.
I proudly earned my DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and am so thankful for the amazing mentors and friends that have become colleagues in an industry that is always changing.
I purchased an existing practice in 2013 after working as an associate dentist and wanting to have greater control over the quality of care that I provide my patients. Determined to be more than a drill and fill dentist, I transformed my business and built my brand to be one synonymous with advanced dental care, while maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment. It is humbling to have cultivated a practice with an amazing associate dentist, Dr. Kopal Agarwal, and a team of amazing women.
My father, a physician, taught me at an early age to always be kind, and success will follow. I apply this sentiment with each member of my team and with each patient that entrusts me with their health. I accept that the challenge of earning a persons trust is on me so I take time to listen to each of my patients concerns, anxieties, expectations, and histories. Building relationships on mutual respect helps me provide the best care possible, because my patients feel more informed and empowered to take care of their bodies and smiles.
Each year, I invest in my continued education and training in order to provide my patients with the most up-to-date and comprehensive care possible. I actively participate in Seattle Study Club, Spear Dental Education, and Clinical Mastery Programs which are globally recognized in the dental industry for providing advanced techniques in comprehensive dental care and TMJ management. In 2017, I was was awarded Best Case Presentation and Treatment Planning by the local chapter of the Seattle Study Club for my presentation on providing patients with comprehensive care while respecting an individual's emotional, financial, and scheduling limitations.
Outside of dentistry and business ownership, I make the most out of my time with my family. In 2017, my husband (college sweetheart!) and I welcomed our son, Hudson, into our lives. Together, we love travel and spending time outdoors. Once an avid runner (its getting harder to train with the business and baby!), I value my time spent at the boxing gym and trying new fitness programs. I enjoy craft beer and wine, and secretly want to be a gourmet chef!
