Dr. John Ji received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine in 1999. While at PENN, he received the Matthew Cryer Honor Society Award, which is awarded to the top ten students by academic rank. In 2001, he completed his residency program in orthodontics at Howard University, College of Dentistry, in Washington, D.C.

Welcome to our office! I work with many of our new patients to coordinate treatments and find payment solutions to fit each familys unique insurance and financial situation. Ive been with Dr. Ji since he opened his practice in 2001, and Ive really enjoyed getting to know so many interesting people throughout the years. I also feel very fortunate to be a part of the Ji Orthodontics team; everyone here is friendly, nice, and dedicated to making our patients smile!

We also want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout your entire orthodontic experience, and our practice is dedicated to making sure that you receive the quality care you deserve.
Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.
Patient sucked her thumb as a young child. She started treatment at age 13. She had braces and a special appliance called a crib to retrain the tongue, for 28 months. Now she can bite the lettuce out of a sandwich.
This adult patient, age 25, required braces and jaw surgery to correct his severe overbite, with treatment taking two years. His problem could have been corrected without surgery if he had been treated before he was a teenager.
This patient 's lateral incisors were congenitally missing. She had braces for 20 months to move the teeth into their correct positions, then the missing teeth were replaced with bonded 'Maryland' bridges.
Patient's underbite was causing her jaw joint discomfort and excessive wear patterns on her teeth. After about 30 months of treatment starting at age 32, she now finds smiling and chewing much easier.
At age ten, patient had a big overjet with the top teeth protruding beyond the bottom. She had two phases of treatment. The first helped her jaws to grow more harmoniously and the second aligned her teeth and bite. At age 13, she was proudly displaying her new smile.
Sometimes braces are not needed to get noticeable improvements in tooth alignment. This patient was first seen at age seven for crowding of the lower permanent teeth. A procedure was performed to reduce the width of the adjacent baby teeth and the permanent incisors aligned on their own in nine months.
Patient's parents were concerned about both aesthetics and the health of the erupting permanent teeth when they brought him to the orthodontist at age eight. The lower front teeth were crowded and touching the palate, and the upper front teeth were extremely displaced from their normal positions. After 12 months of Phase-One treatment with an expander and partial braces, patient's appearance and dental function were vastly improved.

Both of my daughters have received braces from Dr.Ji's office In Colonial Heights, Va. My oldest received hers at 12 years old, she is now 22; and now my 13 year old is receiving orthodontic care. Dr. Ji and his staff are very professional, polite and caring. I ALWAYS recommend his office to anyone looking for an orthodontist. They are THE BEST!!!!

I love it. Staff is nice Dr. Ji is great I was referred from my sister and she def was head on with everything being good. I'm a new mom of a 7 month old and she was with me. She started getting fussy and crying while i was getting my braces put on. The other staff took her tried to get her to stop crying & fixer her a bottle. I loved that & I really appreciated it. Also the prices are not bad.
