Dr. Tom Jeter and Dr. Fred Welch founded Jeter & Welch Dentistry in 1976 and have remained partners and close friends ever since. Being in a partnership for over 40 years, they have always been able to provide the highest level of care for their patients. Dr. Jeter and Dr. Welch have continued their longtime philosophy of conservative dentistry by treating patients needs and wants, but never trying to oversell dentistry to their patients. This approach has led to multiple generations of patients coming back since they first opened their doors. Dr. Jeters son, Dr. Ben Jeter, joined the practice in 2011.
Dr. Tom Jeter has been practicing dentistry in North Charleston for 40 years. He graduated Davidson College in 1971 and MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 1974. He graduated in the top of his class and was a member of the prestigious academic fraternity Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Jeter is a current and active member of the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry. He has been a member of the South Carolina Dental Association and American Dental Association. He and his wife, Gail, have three grown children and four grandchildren. When he is not working, Dr. Jeter enjoys traveling, spending time with his eight grandchildren, and playing golf.
Dr. Fred Welch was born and raised in the Lowcountry and graduated Wofford College in 1971. Like Dr. Jeter, Dr. Welch graduated from MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 1974 and has practiced dentistry in North Charleston for 40 years. He is a current and active member of the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry and has been a member of the South Carolina Dental Association and American Dental Association. Dr. Welch and his wife, Debby, have a grown son and two grandsons. The newest addition to their family, Marley, is a golden retriever. When he is not spending time with his family, Dr. Welch enjoys spending time at his farm in Kingstree, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
Dr. Ben Jeter graduated Clemson University in 2007 and MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 2011. Dr. Ben Jeter was the recipient of the Charleston Dental Society Award for Excellence in Restorative Dentistry. He was an active member of Psi Omega fraternity all four years of dental school volunteering in various community service activities, Dental Access Day, and local free dental clinics. Dr. Ben Jeter volunteers at MUSC College of Dental Medicine as a clinical instructor in their Restorative Clinic and enjoys mentoring students approaching their graduation. He also volunteers at the free dental clinic at North Charleston Dream Center. He is a member of the South Carolina Dental Association, American Dental Association, and South Carolina Board of Dentistry. He and his wife, Emilie, have two daughters, Lawton and Mary Neyle.

Jeter & Welch have been our family dentists since 1988. We started out with Tom Jeter as our primary dentist and when Tom retired his son Ben became our primary dentist. These guys provide the utmost in dental care. Everyone from Tom and Ben Jeter and Fred Welch, the hygienist staff and the office staff are just wonderful and personable people who will take care of all of your dental needs and they will do it with a smile!

I have been with Dr Jeter(senior) since I was in Elementary School (1974). He has always taken great care of me and my teeth. Now his son is taking care of me and I wouldn't trust any other dentist.

Dr. Welch has been my dentist for well over 30 years - I wouldn't go anywhere else! He and Dr. Jeter alway recommend what's best for their patients. I have always been treated well by the entire staff. They are taking the utmost care with their COVID protocols. There have been a few times I've had issues needing quick attention and they always get me right in and fix me up. I look forward to using their services for many years to come!

They are wonderful. They will take care you. Gives detailed information. Knowledgeable on insurance coverage and tell you what you need to know or want to know. My appointments always start when they should. I'm not waiting long periods of time. The staff is very friendly and wonderful atmosphere. I am very happy they are my new dentist office.

Ben and staff as good as ever on visit. Sorry his father retired but he and Fred Welsh are excellent professionals. Also the hygienist I saw (Carrie) was one of best in my 30 years using Jeter and Welsh.

The entire staff at Dr. Jeter's office is helpful, patient, and kind. My impression is they sincerely care about the health, well-being, and success of their patients. Dr. Jeter has approached my care with wisdom and balance. He and his staff keep on top of potential areas that may need treatment, but do not "jump the gun" when considering care. Dr. Jeter also takes the time to answer my questions and help me understand procedures and options for care if they are needed. I feel trust is a huge indicator for any medical provider, but that it can be especially pertinent for certain patients that may be anxious about dental care and cleaning. I am confident in Dr. Jeter's care and look forward to trusting him with my dental health for years to come.
