Dr. Jessica Barr and the members of our team are dedicated to serving our community with advanced treatments and comprehensive education. Dr. Barr is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the New York State Fifth District Dental Society. She is looking forward to providing a variety of dental treatments in-house. Dr. Barr and her husband Eric are residents of Ogdensburg and parents of twin boys, Isaac and Carson Barr. Together they enjoy traveling, spending time on the St. Lawrence river and attending sporting events both local and afar.

Our prevention oriented practice utilizes the skills of our registered dental hygienists, Julianne and Shannon. Their experience in soft tissue management and therapies helps to keep our patients healthy and prolong the life of their dental work. Our hygienist provide a full range of services including cleanings, digital radiographs, fluoride treatments for adults and children, sealants and oral hygiene instructions.

Julianne is from Lisbon, NY. She has been part of our dental team since 2009. First, as a dental assistant, and now as a dental hygienist. Julianne graduated from Monroe Community College as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2012. She is certified in Zoom! Whitening and Logicon. As a hygienist, she enjoys helping her patients develop and maintain a healthy smile. Julianne enjoys cooking, baking, spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoys being the passenger on her husband Tims Harley Davison. They reside in Ogdensburg with their dog Joe.

Shannon is from Ogdensburg. She has been a patient of Dr. Mahoneys since she was a child. She graduated from SUNY Canton as a Registered Dental Hygienist with an Associates degree in applied Sciences in 2010. Shannon has a license to anesthetize and give nitrous oxide, is certified in ZOOM! whitening and trained in Logicon. Shannon has past experience working in a pedodontists office treating patients with special needs. She lives in Black Lake and likes to craft, bake and spend time outdoors with her husband Jarret, their son, Isaac, and 2 dogs. Shannon takes pride in making her patients feel comfortable in the dental chair, educating them on the benefits of oral health, and giving them confidence in their smile.

Julie is one of Dr. Mahoneys sisters, and grew up in Ogdensburg, New York. She has a grown son, Justin. As office manager, Julie works behind the scenes with matters of insurance and patient finances. She spends a great deal of time understanding many insurance policies and is relentless in maximizing insurance benefits for our patients. Feel free to approach Julie with any questions you might have. Julie and Lynn work together in scheduling. Julie loves working with people and taking care of their needs at the front desk.

Jessica is from Ogdensburg, New York and a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. She has been a dental assistant since 2015, and is experienced in the dental sealant program as well as working with special needs patients. Jessica enjoys spending time with her fianc and their two dogs. Jessica began working with Dr. Mahoney in July of 2018. Jessica will make sure your visit with Dr. Mahoney is exceptional and professional.

It is important to make sure your child has a proper oral hygiene routine, as children are particularly susceptible to tooth decay. Be sure they are brushing their teeth at least twice a day, especially after meals and before bed. They should also floss their teeth once a day to remove excess food debris and plaque.

Diet and nutrition can also affect your childs oral health. The harmful bacteria in plaque love to feed on sugars and other simple carbohydrates. Be sure to limit your childs exposure to sugary snacks and drinks. If they do need a snack, fruits and vegetables are a healthy alternative to chips, cookies, and candies.

Once the permanent molars and premolars erupt, we may also recommend dental sealants. These teeth have deep grooves and fissures that are hard to clean, particularly for children. A dental sealant is placed on the occlusal (biting) surface to protect the tooth and allow for easier brushing.
