One of our top goals is to provide professional and friendly dental care for your child from their infant years into early adulthood. We work hard to teach them proper dental hygiene and promote regular dental checkups to keep your childs mouth happy and healthy.
Our Jerger Pediatric Dentistry team loves going above and beyond for patients. We enjoy getting to know the children who come to see us, and were proud of their dedicated oral health efforts, which is why we love featuring our young patients in our Smile of the Month Club. We also appreciate our community, and we sponsor and participate in numerous community events, like Give Kids A Smile Day. We provide excellent Decatur dental care and offer a range of services that includes laser frenectomies and special needs dentistry. We understand that each child is unique, and we are here to help your little ones enjoy outstanding oral health and beautiful smiles!
I am a lifelong resident of Decatur, IL, and am committed to the health of children in my community. After completing my residency at Riley Children's Hospital, I began working with my father, who established Jerger Pediatric Dentistry in 1966. I have been practicing pediatric dentistry in Decatur since 1995. Together, we have provided care to Central Illinois for over 50 years.
I enjoy helping to create beautiful smiles for our young patients while getting to know them and watching them grow up. My biggest goal is to create a safe, comfortable atmosphere where children have a positive first impression of dentistry.
Currently, I am serving as chairman of Give Kids a Smile and National Childrens Dental Health Month for Central Illinois and was awarded by the Illinois State Dental Society for success of these events in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
My wife, Tracey, and I have two daughters, Cailin and Ashton. My time outside of work is spent with my family, whether Im coaching one of my girls sports or being a proud parent in the stands, cheering them on. I also enjoy keeping active by jogging and playing golf.
I first came to the practice at 2 years of age as a patient. I have always loved interacting with children and was interested in dentistry so this was the perfect fit for me. I received my certification in December 2020 and became a pediatric dental assistant.

We went for our first visit yesterday for my 19 month old. Their team was absolutely amazing. They are great with little kiddos, they have a system down and it works really well. The dentist was great; he was matter of fact, told us what we have to do from now on to help her teeth, and was thorough. So grateful for this practice. Highly recommended.

Words can't express how awesome it is there for the kids. My son is 4 and he loved it. Got to play the Xbox while waiting his turn. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable. You can even work while you wait on your child to finish. Best dentist ever . Thank you Dr. Jerger and Staff for making it awesome for me and my son 1st visit.

My daughter was made to feel welcome and was extremely comfortable with the staff at Dr Jerger's office! This is huge for her as we were referred because she was terrified of previous dental appointments. The staff explained the X-rays to me and helped me understand what was going on in her little mouth My daughter can't wait to go back and has teased her brother (9year old) about how fun "her" dentist was! Lol

Beyond impressed I have ran into nothing but problems with about 7 different dentists and that includes traveling to Springfield and Chicago to get my son's teeth fixed. Everything about this place is refreshing from the staff, the waiting room, where the kids get their teeth checked out. I left with happy tears knowing I finally found a place able to help my son. My 5 year old likes it so much he hugged one of the associates before we left.

Sitting and listening to a friend that use to work at this facility for Bret. He is horrible to work for and makes his worked color their hair and have their nails a certain way. Also get in trouble for wearing the wrong color shirt. Then parents aren't allowed back with their kids. This man has a sound proof room where he straps the kids arms and legs down and brace that holds their head up. He tells the kids to shut up and threatens them. Tons more. This man is horrible and abuses kids.

Most wonderful place to take your kids. The staff is always welcoming. Dr Jerger loves his job and it shows. We live an hour away and I don't mind the distance. Because I know this is the best place to take my kids. Would highly recommend this office for your dental or orthodontic needs.

This office was so wonderful. My 4yo was terrified of the dentist and as soon as we walked in he found the playroom and things didn't seem so scary. The staff and Dr. Bret were so wonderful and kind. Everything was so clean and organized from the moment we stepped in. My little guy didn't want to leave by the end. Highly recommend this wonderful practice!

I cannot say enough good things about how they have treated my son who has special needs. From the first time we visited their office they have made him feel like he is the most important person in the office to them. We had to have a dental procedure done at the hospital a few months ago because of his issues. They treat him like a king as well. This last visit was a follow up appointment/check up and they were so nice to my son. I can only say that every one there including the dentist must have had a calling for this. We had looked for so long for a dentist to treat him after his last one in Springfield had retired several years ago. We could not find anyone in Springfield that will treat someone with his issues. It is and was well worth the time and effort to drive to Decatur for such excellent treatment. I would recommend them to anyone who has a child with special needs! R.C.

Jerger Pediatric Dentistry has always been a great place for all kid dental needs. I came here as a child and now I bring my children here. The dentist and hygienists are patient and gentle with all three of my kids. When I tell my kids they have a dentist appointment they actually get excited. I always recommend Dr. Jerger and his staff to other parents.

Definitely the best pediatric dentist around. We have been to a few in Central Illinois and nothing compares to the staff or the dentist. World Class Service all the way around! My daughter wants to go to the dentist every time we drive by.
