Dr. Jennifer Schau is a native of Michigan. She grew up in a small town near Kalamazoo, although she has lived in the Tri-city area for over 30 years. She shares allegiance to both MSU, for her undergraduate degree, and U of M, for the school of dentistry. She is actively involved in organized dentistry on a local, state and regional level.
Dr. Jennifer Schau has had a lifelong passion for improving her patients overall health through dentistry. Her current practice in Saginaw was established in 1996, where she has been able to provide quality dentistry to area residents. In addition to her general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry background, she now has over 25 years experience with TMJ, sleep appliances and utilizing braces for aesthetic and functional improvements. The first step in creating an individualized treatment plan for a dental implant procedure is developing a detailed plan. The plan is designed specifically for your needs and is prepared by an expert team of dental specialists who are specially trained and experienced in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. This team approach provides coordination of care based on the best implant type for you.
Next, the tooth implant, which is a tiny post made of titanium, goes into the bone socket of your missing tooth. After the jawbone has healed, it grows around the implant, anchoring it securely into place. It takes between six and 12 weeks to complete the healing process.
Once the implant has been inserted into the jawbone, a tiny connector post is attached to hold the new crown securely. Your dentist takes impressions of your teeth, which capture all of your teeth, including their type and arrangement. The new tooth or teeth is based on this model. A crown is then attached to the tooth that was removed. Some patients may have attachments placed on the implant that retains and supports a removable denture as an alternative to one or more individual crowns.
Your dentist will also match the color of the teeth to your natural teeth, so they blend in better. Because the implant is securely placed within the jawbone, your new teeth look, feel, and function just like natural teeth.
Most people whove had dental implants report minimal discomfort during the procedure. Local anesthesia can be applied during the procedure, and patients report that implants involve much less pain than tooth removal.
Unlike natural teeth, which are susceptible to decay, dental implants are not. However, the health of the gum tissue is vital to maintaining long-lasting implant success. Regular professional cleaning and checkups are essential for dental implant sustainability. Conscientious home care by patients is also necessary. Each patient is unique, and success depends on diagnosis and planning, medical histories, and other factors.

Today was our first time at Dr. Schau's office. We had the best experience. Every one was so nice. Ruth did an excellent job cleaning my son's teeth. She was so personable and helpful. They answered all of our questions. Dr. Schau was nice, she explained to my son what he needs to do, to take proper care of his teeth. Very pleased with their customer service and the way they run their business.

I love this Dental Practice. Dr. Schau and her staff are top notch in care. Dr. Schau is never rushed, discusses options, provides information for future dental decisions and is so kind! I have gone there for many years and have not a single complaint. I went through the Invisalign process years ago and was very pleased with the results! Ruth has been the most thorough hygienist and so has Caitlyn. Jayne, you are a joy- thank you for referring Joe and I so many years ago! Office staff (shout out to Kathy and Ann) are all so friendly, fun and courteous. Even though we moved an hour away over 2 years ago we still come back!

Dr. Schau was awesome. They let you know exactly what they're doing when they're working on your teeth. The best part for me was I experienced no pain. I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to dentist and literally experience a little bit of anxiety each time I go. But, she made my experience pleasant.
