My interest in dentistry began at a very young age; with a grandfather, father, and aunt who all worked in the dental field, following in their footsteps was an easy choice. I witnessed firsthand how my father helped people and developed trust with them. To this day, his patients will talk about him and share laughs about how much they loved him. I want to make a similar difference in my own patients lives, and have them remember me with that same level of fondness.

Dentistry also provides me with the ability to work with my handsto create something meaningfulall while helping relieve someone of pain, alleviate fear, or just listen with an open heart. Dentistry has given my live extraordinary purpose and meaning.

A native of Sewickley, I graduated from Quaker Valley High School and continued on to Howard University for my pre-dental studies. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

After practicing for 30 years, Ive seen a lot change in dentistry when it comes to treatments and technology. By participating in continuing education courses through various professional memberships, I am able to stay current with the latest treatments in this rapidly changing field. Participating in continuing education through the Seattle Study Club, American Dental Association, and Pittsburgh School of Dentistry helps me provide my patients with the best care possible.

I feel fortunate to live in the same area where I grew up, and had the pleasure of raising my two children, Tom and Julia, in this wonderful community. My free time has most recently been consumed with ballroom dancingit was on my bucket list and I havent missed a beat in the two years since I started! Im also active in my community, volunteering at Catholic Charities, Dental Lifeline (ADAs volunteer dental program), have volunteered at Catholic Charities, and have yet to say no to a speaking engagement for career days or health fairs for young people.

I am so passionate about dentistry, its hard to know where to start! As a compassionate person who has a strong belief in helping others, dentistry seemed like a natural fit for me. It certainly didnt hurt to have great role modelsmy fathermy grandfather, and my sister Dr. Darlene.

Every day, I feel a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that I've been able to help my patients take control of their oral health. My profession allows me to be a teacher, a personal coach, and an artist all in one. I am able to help, prevent, and create something, as well as making someone feel comfortable in the dental setting. I can break down barriers and build personal relationshipswhats better than that?

I attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for my Doctorate of Dental Medicine, and keep up with advancements in technology by attending local study groups, lectures, and web-based continuing education.

Keeping up with what is going on in the present dental field only helps me hone my skills and broaden my abilities to educate my patients, myself, and staff members. It helps me confirm and conform to what is new in dentistry. I feel it is so very important to know what is new in dentistry but also to review and find new ways to approach situations differently. You can always learn something a different way even if it works the way you have previously done.

I was raised and currently reside in Sewickley. My husband Mark and I have been together for 26years and have two children, Madison and Evan, who have both been basically raised in the office. All of my patients know about my children and their activities. We also have a wonderful dog named Milo.

My children keep me busy running them to ballet, karate, and extra curricular activities.I like to be involved in their schools and theseactivities as much as possible. If there is any time left over, I love entertaining, cooking, and the arts!

Recently cracked open a molar on some crispy food. Was missing a large piece of tooth and had some exposed rot for about a week. One visit to this dentistry and within a couple hours my tooth was drilled and filled, semi painlessly and looks like nothing happened! Very professional and friendly staff, will be going back for regular cleanings

Extremely rude office staff and phone messaging services. Impossible to make an appointment at this place, call somewhere else if you want to get seen sometime this year.

I've been seeing Dr. Zena for over 10 years, after my previous dentist retired early and, on the first visit, his replacement told me I needed well over $2,000 worth of dental work. Saw Dr. Zena back then for a second opinion and she told me there was no need for any expensive dental work, that hasn't changed in all the time that I've continued to see her. She's an excellent dentist, attentive, friendly, and doesn't do unnecessary, expensive dental work. I've had very good experiences with the dental hygienists there as well.

RUDE!! The dentist, the hygienist, and the office staff. Bad customer service even over the phone. One visit and I will not be going back. I would not recommend this office at all.

My initial appointment & exam was on 07/20/20, The experience was good. I was told that a claim for the services I needed would be submitted to my dental plan. I placed a follow up call to my dental plan on 09/14/20 & was told there were no pending claims, I immediately called Dr Darlene who assured me that the claim was submitted & would be resubmitted.....now here we are on 10/20/20.....& my insurance company still says they have not received the claim, yet Dr Darlene says it was submitted!!! They are pointing the finger at one another, but more importantly it's been 3 months & my needs are not being met!!!!

Went here for four and a half years, and only stopped because I moved. Doc Zena succeeded where all other dentists have failed, in getting me to floss daily. She is also fun to banter with (challenging with a numb mouth full of equipment though). Never had any serious problems with the cleanings or repair work I had done here (a few minor flakes off of composite fillings, but none of them have actually come out). Wait times for scheduled work were usually very reasonable, and they used plenty of anesthetic. The decor is a bit dated and they don't have any of the fancy distractions you see at some dentists' but I really don't care about that. Edit to add: My new dentist was impressed with Doc Zena's composite fillings below the gumline. "You had a very good dentist."

I saved $1000 on fixing chips in my teeth! I loved the staff. Everything was clean. I did not have to wait. The entire experience was amazing.

I am a new patient and let me tell you they are fantastic. I had Dr Zena and she is the best Dentist hands down, my Hygienist is far superior to any that I have ever experienced, the staff is fantastic and just make you feel special. I have definitely found a great Dentist and won't go anywhere else.
