Contact our practice to begin the journey to a healthier and happier you. We look forward to helping you look and feel better.

For 26 years, I have come to work each day knowing that I am making positive and lasting changes with my patients. Whether they are experiencing periodontitis (gum disease), missing teeth,or any other conditions, I have enjoyed the challenge and reward of helping people. It has been so gratifying watching my patients make the changes needed to lead better, healthier lives through their improved oral health. I grew up thinking about dentistry, as my grandfather began practicing dentistry in 1925, my father started practicing in 1955, and I have been a dentist since 1985. My grandmother was the office manager in my grandfather's practice, my mother managed my father's practice, and my sister was the dental hygienist in our family practice until she went to medical school. Through providing excellent treatment, information, and understanding, I have committed my lifes work to helping people be healthier and feel better.

I completed my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1985. After practicing general dentistry in our family practice, I went on to receive my first specialty certificate in prosthodontics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989. I followed this by accepting a fellowship in oral-facial and communicative disorders (cleft-palate prosthodontics), also at Chapel Hill, in 1990. Then, I traveled to Seattle, WA, to complete my specialty certificate in periodontics at the University of Washington in 1998. Also in the same year, at the same school, I received my masters degree in oral biology and accepted an NIH fellowship in molecular biology research.

However extensive my formal education has been, I understand how important it is for my patients that I stay as up-to-date and educated within the rapidly developing dental field as possible. My patients deserve nothing but the most effective and efficient treatments available, and this is why I stay closely attached to the academic community as well as continue various educational courses. I am an affiliate faculty member (clinical assistant profesor) in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Washington Dental School. I also am a visiting lecturer at the LWTC dental hygiene training program. Further, I am the mentor for a local branch of the Spear Study Club, which allows me direct access to the latest and most scientifically proven trends and treatments. The continuing education programs at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and Academy of Osseointegration (AO) are a regular source of the latest scientific information on Periodontology and dental implants.

By holding membership in the following professional affiliations, I am given further opportunities to continue my education so that I can provide my patients the benefits of scientific and technological advancement in my field:

For nearly 20 years, I have had the pleasure of being a part our beautiful little place in the Pacific Northwest. I have met so many unique and interesting people through my profession, and I have never ceased to be amazed at how much this community has given me. One way that I say thank you, and because I believe strongly in giving back to my community, is by staying active in community outreach programs and other organizations that help out the people who make up our home. Following is a list of organizations and programs that I am a part of that allow me to give back to my amazing friends and neighbors who make up my community:

I am a native of Cleveland, Ohio, but I have called the Pacific Northwest home for the last 18 years. My wife and I, along with our two daughters, have truly enjoyed the beautiful landscape and wonderful people this place provides. When Im not in the office serving my patients, I enjoy African folk drumming, flying trapeze, creating jewelry and sculpture (I was an art major before entering dentistry), cooking, reading, dancing, skiing, and kayaking. Some fun facts about me are: I spent five years as a migrant farm laborer in Washington, I was a professional musician in Cleveland, and I was a construction laborer and salmon canner in Alaska. All before I became a dentist!

Jeffrey P. Kanter - Periodontist in Redmond, WA

I feel so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with one of the highest recognized and reputable periodontal specialists in the greater NW area. I can say without a doubt, Dr. Kanter is the kindest and most compassionate dentist Ive ever worked with. He really takes the time to thoroughly educate not only his staff but his patients as well. I am so honored to work with Dr. Kanter and be a part of his highly trained and professional team.

My favorite part of my job is really helping our patients prepare for their surgeries, including coordinating their treatment benefits as well as supporting them in being emotionally prepared for their treatment and commitment to better oral health. It is so rewarding to go through the process with them. One of the best feelings is to wake up every day and be excited to go to work. Our office has an amazing energy and friendly atmosphere.

Our clinical assistants, Brandi Van Der Vliet, Sherri Breznen, and Isaiah Brilhante, have a collective goal to provide an atmosphere where receiving dental care will be a positive experience. Our assistants interact on a personal level with you to make you feel more comfortable and relaxed, as well as to better understand your needs and goals. They work very closely with Dr. Kanter to provide outstanding chair-side assistance and pre- and post-operative instructions along with any necessary follow-up care. They always strive to put a smile on your face!

Went there checking implant, the feasibility, the procedure and the price. After the consultation (a paid session), the doctor said would send the price information via email. That never happened. My dentist contacted the clinic for implant information and did not get response. That really sucks.

paid 350 dollars to get a consultation and then to schedule an appt but wanted the appointment records in hand and the cost in front of me and had to call them several times to get what I paid for then when I called to make an appointment they deactivated me as a client. Be aware they may rip you off. I guess they don't need the business.

I entrusted Dr. Kanter with the extensive procedure of removing my entire upper arch of teeth and their replacement with six dental implants for the support of a full fixed bridge. The substantial erosion of bone in my upper jaw made bone grafts necessary. Sinus lifts and gum grafts were also required. We opted for immediate loading of the implants, that is, my prosthodontist attached a temporary bridge to the implants on the day of surgery. My trust in Dr. Kanter proved to be entirely justified. The procedures could not have gone more smoothly and trouble free. Operative and post-operative pain was minimal. The gum grafts were uncomplicated. I recently saw Dr. Kanter again for the six month evaluation of the procedure and the integration of the implants into the upper jaw bone is complete and quite perfect. I highly and enthusiastically recommend Dr. Kanter. He clearly cares very much for his patients and takes great pride in his work. But actions speak louder than words, and am I happy to report that Dr. Kanter will soon perform the identical procedure on my lower jaw.
