However, the dental field actually ended up being Dr. Hermens second career. Everyone in his family worked in the oil business, so it seemed like a natural course of action. From his very first day of employment as a landman, though, he continued to think about dentistry and eventually realized that hed made a serious mistake. It took a few years for him to get back on track, but he finally started the science coursework needed to apply for dental school and the rest is history! Hes never looked back since.
Dr. Hermen completed his dental school science prerequisites at Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery at The OU College of Dentistry, which was an outstanding learning experience but it was only the beginning. Today, he loves attending continuing education courses that give him new information and ideas that he can incorporate into his own dental office. He has undergone extensive training in orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry and is an Invisalign Certified Provider. He is also a member of a great little monthly study club that looks at challenges with patient treatment they all face.
Dr. Hermen and his wife have two children one daughter and one son. His daughter is currently a college senior who is majoring in Communications and Spanish. His son is planning to attend the University of Oklahoma and major in Entrepreneurial Business. When he has free time, you can usually find him in the great outdoors, spending his vacation days hiking in the mountains, fly fishing, and snow skiing. Theres no replacement for being in the middle of nowhere with great scenery and wildlife! Oil painting is another passion that gives him a sense of escape from lifes daily stresses. If youre in the dental office, check out the paintings in the lobby you may find one of his works hanging on the wall.
Cheryl has been working as a dental hygienist for an amazing 43+ years! Her organizational talents and good attention to detail make her a great fit for this role. Originally from Oklahoma City, she moved to the Edmond area in 1993. She met her husband at a church retreat, and they have one son together who is married with two darling girls of his own. In her free time, she enjoys working in her yard, planting colorful flowers, and attending various recitals and school programs for her granddaughters.
Molly completed her dental hygiene degree at Johnson County Community College, and she has certifications in CPR, nitrous oxide, local anesthesia, Invisalign, and Perio Protect. Today, her career in oral healthcare covers over 15 years. What she enjoys most about her job is getting to know the patients and sharing in the ups and downs of their life. She definitely has a passion for serving people in fact, she volunteered at an orphanage in Mozambique, Africa one summer! She married a lifelong Oklahoman, and they have one son and two daughters. In her spare time, you can usually find her hiking and exploring nature with her husband, baking, reading, gardening, and having adventures through traveling.
Originally from Mustang, Shellie currently lives in the Edmond area. She studied dental hygiene at Rose State College and is certified in local anesthesia, Invisalign, Perio Protect, nitrous oxide, and CPR. She has been working in dentistry for over two full decades and loves spending time alongside such a great team here at Dr. Hermens dental office. Being able to build relationships with patients and their families is a true joy! At home, she and her husband have three children and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her loved ones, going to her kids various sporting and cheer events, and volunteering in Childrens Ministry at her church.
Pams career in dentistry spans nearly 15 years, and she has advanced training in Invisalign, Dentrix, and CPR. Shes also been a patient of Dr. Hermens since 1993! Shes a great people person and loves interacting with others through her job. Originally from San Angelo, TX, she has lived in Oklahoma for many decades now. She and her husband have two grown daughters, four grandchildren, and two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, quilting, baking, and painting rocks.
