I have a deep commitment to my patients and practice with honesty and integrity. My greatest passion, as an orthodontist, is knowing the life-long impact my work has on each patients life. At the end of treatment, most patients are genuinely thrilled with their new smile. Many dont realize that theyll have less risk of periodontal disease, TMJ-TMD problems, or tooth wear as they grow older. I love knowing that my team plays a significant role in improving the health, wellbeing, and self-confidence of each person we treat.

Ive been practicing orthodontics for more than 20 years. My path to becoming an orthodontist was not a straight one. My college education started in the engineering field; however, the more I studied the more I came to love the sciences. My path eventually led to orthodontics as its the perfect synergy of both those fields. On a daily basis, I get to engineer the ultimate smile for my patients, while working within the confines of and respecting each persons biology and physiology.

Dr. Barton and his team regularly attend local, regional, and national lectures, seminars, and conferences. This is ensures they are up-to-date on enhancements and innovations in the field. As orthodontics is a continually evolving specialty, its essential for everyone at Barton Orthodontics to remain current on new technologies, advancements in patient care, and changes in techniques.

Our staff work together with Dr. Barton and each patient to form a team that creates orthodontic excellence! We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs.

Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice. We will strive to exceed your expectations and to provide you with excellent instruction and encouragement to help you achieve a beautiful, healthy new smile. We are pleased to welcome you and your family to Dr. Bartons office.

There are many reasons why people seek orthodontic treatment. Some want a more attractive smile or need better function of their teeth. Parents may wishto help increase their child'sself-confidence during critical development years.Adults may seek treatment to obtain additional confidence in their appearance.Braces can increase the abilitytokeep teeth clean, can improve force distribution and wear patternsof the teethand can guide permanent teeth into more favorable postitions. For most people, braces will greatly improve the way you look and feel.

Braces use steady gentle pressure to gradually move teeth into their proper positions. The brackets that are placed on your teeth and the archwire that connects them are the main components. When the archwire is placed into the brackets, it tries to return to its original shape. As it does, it applies pressure to move your teeth to their new, more ideal position. Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age!

There are many reasons why someone may need Orthodontic therapy. Braces not only create a more attractive smile, but can correct bite problems that can affect the health of your teeth, gums, and supportingbone structure. Many people may not realize they are suffering damage to their teeth until the damage has already begun. Periodontal (gum)disease, wear patterns, and jaw joint problems can occur slowly over time. Aligning the teeth and helping your bite fit together properly can help prevent irreversible damage that can occur from having a 'bad bite'. Here are some signs of a 'bad bite'...

Upper front teeth protrude excessively over the lower teeth, or are bucked. Top front teeth cover most of the lower teeth when biting together(deep bite) Upper front teeth are behind or inside the lower front teeth (underbite) The upper and lower front teeth do not touch when biting together (open bite) Crowded or overlapped teeth The center of the upper and lower teeth do not line up Finger or thumb sucking habits which continue after six or seven years old Difficulty chewing Teeth wearing unevenly or excessively The lower jaw shifts to one side or the other when biting together Spaces between the teeth
