Dr. Burns is a 1983 graduate of the University of Connecticut where he earned a degree in biology. From there he attended the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1987. Throughout the years, Dr. Burns has continued his education through countless continuing education courses and seminars. In 1995 he studied with three of the giants of cosmetic dentistry Drs. Nash, Dickerson and Rosenthal at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Dental Esthetics in Manhattan N.Y. In 1991 Dr. Burns received his laser certification at the University of San Francisco. Recently Dr. Burns has received his training and certification in Invisalign orthodontics.

Dianne spent almost 10 years as an active duty member of the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1992. Upon her husbands retirement from the Air Force in 2000 they moved to Connecticut. Joseph Shinn DDS decided to take a chance on hiring a vet and under his skillful guidance Dianne began learning the skills necessary to become a dental assistant. In 2001, Dianne was hired by Dr. Harold Kadish. With the help of the head assistant, Annie Hupper, and hygienist Lynn Benevides, she was able to continue her education. Dianne joined Dr. Burns in February 2004 as front desk/dental assistant. In July 2006 she became Dr. Burns full time assistant. Dianne has one son and in her spare time she is an active member of Vernons Community Emergency Response Team.
Melissa began her dental career in 2000, working while achieving her CDA certification. After four years, she decided to further her dental knowledge and began the steps required toward becoming a dental hygienist. She graduated from Tunxis with her Dental Hygiene degree in 2007. She received her local anesthesia administration certification that same year, along with BLS/CPR certification. Melissa joined Dr. Burns in 2007 and continues her commitment to expertise in dental hygiene treatment and excellence in outstanding patient care.
