A dental implant is a titanium post placed surgically in the jaw bone by a periodontist or oral surgeon. Implants are a good choice for people who have lost one or more teeth due to periodontal disease, injury, or any other reason. They are widely considered one of the greatest advancements in dentistry in the last 40 years, due to their strength, longevity, and they do not depend on surrounding teeth for support.
A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay, back to normal function and shape. If you have a tooth that requires a filling, the dentist will first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, and fill the cleaned out cavity with filling material.
A dental cleaning is a procedure performed by a dental hygienist to remove plaque, and calculus (tarter) build-up from tooth surfaces. We use a variety of instruments and technology during professional cleanings, including hand scaling and ultrasonic scaling devises. Our goal is to remove all debris from the teeth, and root surfaces, to provide optimum gum health, and prevent gingivitis and periodontal disease.
