Dr. Van Hookreceived his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit. He has been an alumnus since 1988. He started his career in a large group practice in Westland, Michigan where he became a partner and practiced for 10 years. He then moved to Novi in 1998 where he opened his first small family practice. In 2003 he bought a historical home in Canton, which he was able to convert into a dental office.
He is married to Maureen and has lived in Canton since 1996. He has four children, he likes to golf, hunt, travel and play various team sports. He enjoys practicing in the community which he lives in. The community has been incredibly supportive.
Dr. Mills Graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2011, and then completed a residency in 'Advanced Education in General Dentistry' (AEGD) at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She spent time as an adjunct faculty member at Detroit Mercy for the AEGD residency program.
Dr. Mills previously worked in a private practice in Canton for a number of years, and is thrilled to be returning to practice in the area as part of The Village Dentist team this June. Dr. Millstruly enjoys getting to know her patients, and places great importance on thorough and effective patient-provider communication. She prides herself on attention to detail, and cares deeply about the quality of her work.

I have been working in the dental field since 1987, and still enjoying every minute. My field of study originally was nursing;I attended Michigan State University and EasternMichigan University. Yes, my blood truly runs green and white. I am the mom of 2 young adult children and proud 'Grandma' to our fur babies, Chloe, Yana, Charlie & Lulu. Two dogs and two cats. I am thrilled to be a part of the team at The Village Dentist!
As a professional, my calling is to serve people & develop lasting relationships by promoting health & wellness through the provision of dental hygiene care. I am a member of both the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Michigan Dental Hygienist Association. I have received advanced training and certification to administer local anesthetics and nitrous oxide sedation. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Masters in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan. Recently, I have become a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Dental Hygiene Program Director at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. I pride myself in staying current with the latest research in preventative oral health care. I enjoy the opportunity to help our patients understand why complete oral care is so beneficial to their overall health.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from The University of Michigan. I am licensed through the State of Michigan to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide. I have been treating patients at The Village Dentist in Canton since 2006. I am happy to be part of this amazing dental team. I believe every patient is unique and should be treated as such. I continue to keep up with research developments, new dental treatment developments, and medicaments to provide the best insight for our patients overall health. My professional mission is to always provide treatment with care and compassion.
Outside of the office I enjoy running, biking, yoga, shoe shopping, and reading. My husband Todd and I have two wonderful boys that always make life interesting. We enjoy hiking as a family and try to get it in with every vacation.
I moved from Southern California to Michigan in 2015. I began working in the dental field in 2007 as a Dental Assistant then continued my educationin Dental Hygiene at Baker College in Clinton Township, Michigan. I joined the Village Dentist team in 2020. I take great pride in patient care and continuing education. I enjoy the relationships I form with each patient and providing them exceptional care. When I am not at the office, I enjoy traveling with my husband, listening to music, and going to Nascar races.

Apalling and disgusting how dishonest and deviant this office is. They lie and say they take your insurance to get you in the door then slam you with a huge bill and then say "oh, I'm sorry, my bad". They did it to me, they did it to my son with his insurance. All they care about is money. They do not care about you.

We weren't happy with our previous dentist and found The Village Dentist. Right from the start we have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr. Van Hook and his staff. They are knowledgeable, friendly, make you feel comfortable and are great with kids as well. We would recommend the practice to anyone looking for a dentist.

I feel appreciated as a customer when I come here and whichever hygienist I get takes great care of me and is responsive to any sensitivities I may have. Dr Van Hook has a great demeanor and I trust his judgments. I have recommended this dentist office to several people who have become patients based on my recommendation, and they sent me small flower arrangements twice to say thank you.

Very inviting and comfortable, unlike what most people think of going to the dentist. I have been seeing this group for some time now. They are such a wonderful group. I rarely feel any pain with any procedure they had done on me. I actually look forward to going to my next appointment. I VERY MUCH recommend "The Village Dentist".

This is hands down the best dentist you will ever have. Dentists are caring and take the time to talk to address anything without rushing. The staff is 5 star in customer service. Always smiling and courteous! This is truly the traditional style of customer caring where you feel valued.

I have been using this dentist office for almost 10 years and have always had the best experience here. When I moved to the canton area I started with them and never left, my husband even switched to here after 5 years somewhere else and says how wonderful and kind they are. Any issues I have had with my teeth or pain were addressed right away. I truly feel like I can count on them. They give you the small town feel and friendliness like knowing your name, that can sometimes be hard to find in a big city.

I'm sorry to say, we had a very disappointing experience today. After a few years of going to this office for cleanings, xrays, and other dental work with me and my 2 daughters, we had our 6-month appointments cancelled out from under us. We planned our summer vacations around these appointments because they are so had to get right now and we made them 6 months ago. We have never missed an appointment. I called to confirm them (over 24 hrs in advance) and was told that because we hadn't "confirmed" them soon enough, the office cancelled them and gave them to someone else. They said there were lots of people trying to get appointments and they needed to make sure they were filled. I really got the feel that this was a family practice vs. corporate dentistry. Just felt like a $$$ today.

What a wonderful place for your dental needs! You get a warm feeing from the atmosphere and staff when you walk in the door! The office is extremely professional. Dr. Van Hook is a genuine and kind person, who will go above and beyond the norm to give you the care you need. He takes the time to explain treatment recommendations and will make certain you understand because it is important to your overall health. They are following all CDC guidelines, for yours and their safety as well. Dr Vanessa is competent, compassionate and thorough. Both Doctors equal a wonderful practice of which I am happy to call "my dentist"
