Certified Sedation Dentist in La Mesa, California Dr. Gray is a graduate of the University of California School of Dentistry at San Francisco along with being alumni of San Diego State University. He has been providing high-level, quality care as a sedation dentist and cosmetic dentist for over 25 years.
His education did not stop after graduating from Dental School. He is a continuous student and spend a tremendous amount of time each year to stay on top of the latest advances for cosmetic and sedation dentists. Dr. Gray has attended the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentists, one of the nations premier post-graduate training facilities and was recognized for his outstanding achievements in the field of COSMETIC DENTISTRY. Dr. Hurtado was born and raised in Southern California. After he completed dental school he moved to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. There he practiced dentistry for 23 years. Dr. Hurtado decided to move with his Wife and 9 year old Son back to California to be closer to his family and to be able to work alongside with his colleague and friend of the last 11 years, Dr. Gray.
Dr. Hurtado understands the significance of continual learning in dentistry which has led to special training in Cosmetics (Porcelain veneers), CEREC certification, Endodontics (Root canals), Implant placement, Sedation, Microscope-assisted dentistry, and Orthodontics (Invisalign and Six Month Smiles).
Although I know that dental training is valuable for me becoming a better dentist, what I have learned over the years is that listening to each of my patients individual needs and wants is what takes priority over everything! By focusing on what my patient wants is key in designing a plan together to help move forward as a team to get the best possible outcome for my patient.
We are excited to be able to have the extremely talented ceramist Mike Milner, as part of our in office team. Mike moved from another part of the city to be with us, and now is located in our second floor suite. He has been working with Dr Gray for the past 8 years, and has been an instructor at some of the finest cosmetic programs in the nation. He also held one of the lead positions for Micro Dental, the top cosmetic dental laboratory in the US. He has over 25 years experience in creating beautiful and natural smiles. A key part of creating those beautiful smiles, is the communication and teamwork between the dentist and ceramist. Dr. Jeff Gray and Mike speak several times a day regarding each of the smile enhancements they are currently working on.
Having one of the nations most talented ceramists right on site gives us tremendous advantage over most cosmetic dental offices, says Dr. Gray. If you're looking for a new dentist, look no further! Dr. Hurtado and his team are absolutely amazing. Here's my story that I hope helps you feel confident to make an appointment. I had terrible dental experiences when I was a child that basically caused me to not see a dentist for YEARS. I'm sure you can image how much work I had to have done. I also opted for a new smile makeover with veneers. Dr. Hurtado and his team walked me through everything and made sure at every appointment I was taken care of. I had sedation done for all my large appointments to keep me relaxed and comfortable since there was a lot of work to complete. They wrapped me in a warm cozy blanket and I got to take a nap. After every dental appointment where I was under sedation, Dr. Hurtado called me every time to see how I was feeling and to not hesitate to call him if there was anything I needed. After a months worth of dental procedures I have my brand new smile to show off and I couldn't be happier with the results! I am beyond thankful to Dr. Hurtado and his entire team. My family has been using Drs. Gray and Hurtado for many years. Today was a rarity... a broken front tooth, requiring a bond. I decided to have a chip repaired on the adjacent one. In and out in one hour, with the two teeth looking as good as new!

After looking for a dentist for 8 years, I feel so blessed to have Dr. Gray as my new forever dentist. I have seizures and need very special care which MOST DDS don't perform. Thankfully a client/friend referred me to Dr. Gray and within minutes of sitting in the chair I was calm and able to make it through the consultation and I am looking forward to having my entire mouth upgraded! Absolutely the best place!!!! I have not been to the dentist in almost 30 years. Everyone was fantastic and kind. I need a bit of work, but feel like this is the best place to go. I recommend this place even if you don't need dental work. Nicest people and best place ever!! I can't wait until my next appointment.

I've referred family and friends to this dentist office. I'm going on almost 5 years with my dental family:) I've recently moved up north 30 minutes from my previous location and I have no problem driving down there for my cleanings . I'm blessed to come across this wonderful team and my awesome Dentist , Dr Hurtado. :) God places people in your life for a reason and I am grateful.

I had to change from my current dentist (which I liked) to someplace more convenient. I'm so glad I found Dr Grey's office. I work at the salon 2 doors down and a few of my clients go there. I had Gray cap all of my teeth a few years ago. The two front teeth failed within the first week. I have had many others fail since, literally fall off or split into. I went to another dentist who informed me that many of the margins on the caps were way out of acceptable standard practices. The caps are rough finished. What that means is I have other new caps now and they are superior to Grays , very smooth. I would think twice before you go to Gray.
