Dr. Jean Barthman is an active member of San Mateo County's professional dental community. She is affiliated with the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Mateo County Dental Society, where she previously held a seat on the board of directors, has held each executive office including president, and chaired the Dental Care Committee.

Dr. Barthman is very professional and provide a thorough dentistry service. Although a bit on the higher price, she makes it up by providing an holistic approach where she identifies behaviors and other health related issues that may cause dental issues. Staff - Jean and Allyson - are personable, friendly and well-informed.

The best most honest affordable dental office I ever been to. If you did an implant and cleaning on my tooth I also project two of my family members to her . I tell you watch it's hard to find a clean honest dentist nowadays but this is the one if you ever need anything on your tooth come here

Jean does everything possible to make you confortable. She explains what she is doing, and her staff is pleasant, efficient and professional. Jean's dental work (crowns, caps, etc) fit well and are solid and very long lasting and her prices are reasonable. It's a well run practice with excellent results.

I found this establishment through 1800dentist.com. My dad was in a lot of pain, and this office was the one that came highly recommended. Only has Dr. Barthman helped with giving my dad relief, their office has been amazing with follow-ups and reminders. Allison, who takes care of the front office, is compassionate and was willing to work with my dad regarding treatment. This is an amazing team with only the patient's best health in mind.

Switched from Western Dental which was a clown fiesta, and this practice was a much more personal, well-tailored, and high quality experience. Would highly recommend for those who are looking for a new dentist and don't want to go to the big box dentists.

Dr Barthman is the best dentist I've ever been to + the staff is exceptional. I'm a "reluctant " dental patient, mostly from bad experiences as a child. This is first dental office I've left feeling relaxed - no tensing of my neck and no fingernail imprints in the arm rest. I love the hot towel at the end. Thank you Dr. Barthman.

This is one of the best dentist office's I've been to. The staff are super friendly and Dr. Barthman is professional and friendly as well. Even though I'm working for 3 years overseas I always make a visit to my prefered dentist in the Bay Area to get my teeth checked out.

Every time I go, I feel loved!! Believe me, going to the dentist is not what would you think with Dr. Jean. That SPA environment, with calming music and aromatherapy to help you relax. Going to the dentist is not scarry anymore. She has great staff, very professional and attentive your needs. They follow COVID guidelines! Highly recommend Dr. Jean Barthman.

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS! I am writing this review because I decided to go to the dentist during covid. Let me start from the beginning. There is ample FREE parking. The office is spotless. There were no other patients in the office. I had a temperature screening and was asked to use the rinse in the restroom. I filled out my paperwork, watched a brief video and was seated for my appointment. The office offers a spa experience. They provide aroma scents to soothe, headsets, T.v and lower back massage chair. So far, I was highly impressed with the attention to detail. The doctor came in and she was in her mask the entire visit and I was offered to remove mine. When is the last time you had a doctor's undivided attention for an least an Hour? She spent that entire time checking each of my teeth. Her cleaning was amazing. I actually left with my teeth feeling extremely clean. The assistant took x-rays and guided me expertly through that process. She was very professional, friendly and she polished my teeth to perfection. The entire team was Amazing! You should run not walk to this office. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such excellent care of me. I will be sending my entire family to Dr. Barthman.

I am a new patient at Dr Barthman's - I had an initial consultation and teeth cleaning so far and I am beyond impressed! When scheduling my appointment I was told they offer a spa-like experience and after my services; now I think that may be an understatement. I was constantly surprised by the wonderfully unique touches they provide throughout the service: aromatherapy to help calm the nerves, chapstick to make holding your mouth open during photos/x-rays more comfortable, chair massage, ability to escape through music/tv during the service, numbing spray for the cleaning. They also have the latest technology and took a 3D scan of my teeth so I can see every angle - just as they do. What really sets Dr Barthman apart as a dentist is the time and care she puts into not just your teeth, but into your overall health. I truly appreciate her holistic approach to dentistry and how she took the time to educate me on how my tooth/mouth health could affect other areas that I would have not though of a correlation between prior. She informed me of her findings from my exam, some treatment options I could explore, and answered my many questions - which will allow me to make more comfortable and confident decisions for my dental health. Dr Barthman and her staff are so friendly, patient, and truly make you feel like you are part of the dentistry family. I highly recommend this office!

I have been going to Dr. Barthman's dental spa for 20+ years. She has kept my smile beautiful over the years. The things that separate her practice from the rest: consummate efficiency of the team (if you have an appointment, you will not wait, they stay on-time), the do "fit in" emergency appointments when needed (especially if you are a regular customer), they keep up with the latest tools to improve the safety and experience (massage chairs, TVs to watch during dental procedures, digital x-ray / photo / 3-D bite capture imaging, and dental dams / aspiration tools). For example, I had never used the "bite" based aspiration tool until yesterday when I needed a crown prep -- kept my tongue back and completely minimized "spray" during the procedure -- very comfortable compared to the prior way. However, my favorite thing is still the aromatherapy before they start -- it does make it feel like a spa.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Barthman for over 10 years, and it has always been a pleasant experience. The employees are respectful and kind, and I always feel welcome and well cared for. Dr. Barthman and her team make going to the dentist an enjoyable experience (the spa aspect is a nice added bonus!). I can't imagine going anywhere else!

Dr Barthman and her team really live up to the " Dental Spa" title! I am seriously dentist-phobic and she and her staff always make me feel comfortable and relaxed. I love the massage chair, the aroma therapy, the headphones with my favorite music and ( last but not least) the Nitrous Oxide! Before I found Dr Barthman, I hadn't been to a dentist in over 15 years because I was too afraid! Now I go every 6 months like a " normal " person, and I no longer have an anxiety attack over going to the dentist, not even when I needed several fillings replaced.

I can't recommend Dr. Barthman and her team enough! Each one of them fulfill their duties with nothing lacking. Jean, Jennifer & Alison are all very thorough, gentle, professional and treat you like family. If you're looking for a dental team to care for your personalized needs, look no further. So many special touches... appointment reminders, aromatherapy, personal lip balm, sanitized headphones to enjoy the relaxation of the television or your choice or music therapy, follow ups, and if you're especially sensitive to dental work, they care for those specific needs right on point! They truly live up to their title/category 'Dental Spa'.

Not the place for TMJ diagnosis or treatment. Asked me all the questions about what other dentist said about my jaw problem but did not tell me what she thinks is going on and so I just went there spent my hours repeating myself of what other dentist has said to me and had no real outcome. She suggested some treatment but I will not go with any treatment if she's not even sure about what is going on with my jaw. After telling her all the informations which took a long time for her to write it down by hand(which took unnecessarily long time) . She went on telling me:" she's not a TMJ specialist or anything. She just do some searching about TMJ as a matter of learning new thing and that's all".She could have told me earlier and not see me at all. I need real help urgently as it's affecting my daily functions. So I will appreciate it if she could let me know and not waste my time and money. I needed referral for MRI for jaw but she does not do referral and told me another doctor does referral but kept reassuring me that doctor will take forever to see me and might not even be possible.I felt low key she wanted me to just follow whatever treatment that she has for me to do and not go for the real diagnosis to find the right treatment. In the end doctors are not in your interests. So for people who are also seeking for treatment for TMJ or anything , remember to seek for more opinions. Seeking the right medical help is really ridiculous hard nowadays and probably has been like that for decades. Stay healthy and so you don't have to go through troubles before you can even get treated.
