I can truly say I love what I do. As I approach my seventeenth year practicing pediatric dentistry, I can reflect a little and honestly say that I feel so fortunate to have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children. Since 1999, I have had the privilege to treat the young people of San Diego with an amazing team of compassionate and caring professionals. San Diego has been a welcome home after a long educational road. I received a Bachelor of Science degree from UC Berkeley, then went on to pursue my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. Following dental school, I completed a two-year residency, also at UCLA, where I received my specialty certificate in pediatric dentistry.
While at UCLA, I was honored with the American Academy of Operative Dentistry for excellence in clinical dentistry and received special recognition from the Society of Dentistry for Children for outstanding proficiency in pediatric dentistry.
I am proud to serve El Cajon and all of San Diego County with comprehensive, high quality dentistry in a uniquely caring and non-threatening environment. My passion is to care for others and my goal is to help restore your childs health and appearance by providing the highest quality of dental care with honesty and integrity. I have had the privilege of treating the young people of this area for over 17 years. I feel very fortunate to be able to watch so many of my patients grow up into happy young adults and to help them achieve healthy grins for life.
I feel so privileged to be a part of a profession where I can have a positive influence in peoples lives. I am passionate about getting children on a path to excellent oral health and strive to make their dental experiences positive, fun and educational.
I am so fortunate to be practicing pediatric dentistry in my hometown! I grew up in San Diego and graduated from La Jolla High School where I met my wife, Anna. I then went on to UCLA where I received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and pursued my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree graduating with Honors from the UCLA School of Dentistry. My wife and I then ventured to Texas for my pediatric dental residency at the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas.
While gaining experience during residency treating healthy children, I also received extensive training at the Childrens Medical Center, Dallas and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital caring for medically compromised and special needs children.
Nicole Neek LaMantia is a Chicago native who competed at the collegiate level as a triathlete and at the international level as an Irish dancer. She studied at Marquette University before completing her DDS at UC San Francisco. She then completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry along with a masters degree in Public Health at UCLA. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and as a liaison for the San Diego area for the American Academy of Pediatrics.
We place a strong emphasis on continuing education and actively pursue opportunities with a special focus on prevention, growth and development, and the latest techniques in dentistry. We also enjoy participating in community events for children and consider it a true honor to have the opportunity to help improve the oral health of your children.

Financial arrangements are both necessary and beneficial to maintain a sound professional relationship which ultimately benefits your child. On the initial visit, payment for services is due at the time services are rendered.
We accept cash, personal checks, Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. In cases of extensive treatment, CareCredit is available as a monthly payment plan option. Our staff will be happy to assist you with the application process or you may apply online here: Care Credit Application.
We must emphasize that as dental care providers, our relationship is with you and not your insurance company. We will file your insurance claims as a courtesy, but please understand that all charges are ultimately your responsibility from the date services are rendered. If insurance claims are denied or procedures are not covered, you are still financially responsible for the services provided. So impressed with the patience, caring attitude, and flexibility of the staff and dentist. My son needed some cavities filled and they had so many options to try to help him get through the process. We had almost decided on coming back because he was just having such a hard time - as we were waiting in the waiting room to reschedule, he said "I think I want to try again. I think I am ready to be brave." ... I asked him if he was sure and he said he was. Well, they were happy to have him come back again and get back on the chair and they completed the work that needed to be done. During a visit, you can either stay in the room with your child, or wait in the waiting room. I have been coming here for 2 years with my son and the staff is amazing and so attentive. I can't say enough positive things about this office.

Dr. Chan is the dentist for all 4 of my kiddos, and the staff has always been great at accommodating all 4 of them at once for routine cleanings/exams, and it's always been a great experience. Most recently my 10 year old daughter fell and chipped her top front adult tooth badly- into the pulp chamber. Anxieties and emotions very high, I called first thing the next morning (prior to opening) and was able to get ahold of Dr. Chan via their answering service. She made sure we got in first thing, and after a pulpotomy and meticulous attention to detail, restored her tooth beautifully within hours. My girl, who came in in pain and devastated about her tooth, left so happy and relieved that her smile was fixed. All the rest of the family was so amazed- no one could tell which one was originally chipped! Impressed and thankful is an understatement- if I could give 10 stars I would. Highly recommend.

My 2 littles were very nervous to go to the dentist. But the welcoming staff and atmosphere helped us out so much. My daughter has grown so much and their caring nature helped her to be good with going to see them now. Thank you!

Dr. Chan changed our lives!! Since we brought our first baby home from the hospital there was very little we could do to make him happy. When he was happy it didn't last very long. Dr.'s keot telling me it was colic because he was gaining weight okay. Feeding sessions lastef almost an hour each and he was constantly hungry!! I finally saw a lactation consultant who showed me his upper lip and tongue ties and showed me that in a feeding he was getting less than 2 ounces!!! Dr. Chan was recommended to me to have the ties released and im so glad we met her! Since releasing his ties feedings are 15 minutes, and he is FULL afterwards! We have a much happier baby, and the whole process was explained clearly to me before proceeding. We have had great success with the after care. I wont lie and say it was easy because the first week and a half was not fun for me or my son, but we stuck to it and now the stretches are fun and playful, we are both smiling afterward! Thank you so much to Dr. Chan and her amazing team!

I am writing this review because we are moving and I cannot believe I haven't written one prior to now. Look no further if you're looking for the best pediatric dentistry. We make the drive from Ramona to El Cajon because there's no other place I'd trust my kids' dental care to. A high school friend from Texas recommended Dr. Chan to us after we had a bad experience at other pediatric dentistry. All three of my boys started at this dentistry in 2019. We never did get to meet Dr. Chan, but that's okay. Their dentist was Dr. Ryan. He is the most sweetest person you'll meet. Always so joyful and is so amazing with my boys. I have two who are autistic and he's so patient with them. He has always provided excellent dental care. Before I close out this review, I'd like to given a shout out to Cheryl up at the front. She's by far the most joyful person I've meet in our short time in California. She's so personable and orofessional.

Dr. Chan's practice is exactly what I was looking for, holistic and friendly dentistry. He is knowledgeable, kind and gentle. The hygienists and staff are also very good and extremely nice. This is my favorite dentist! So sad I moved.

This is the best dentist I've ever used. My children all love how kind and understanding the staff is with them. Dr. Ryan is so kind to his patients. My kids love how fun and entertaining the staff is throughout the entire process. From walking in, to walking out they are fantastic. The staff in the front office is very kind as well. During one of my visits, my daughter was very upset from her procedure. The staff went out of their way to help us coordinate payment, all without leaving my daughters side. This office is so welcoming and professional. I would highly recommend them to everyone. 5 STARS all the way. They do a GREAT JOB every time.

Brought in my newborn for a frenectomy. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr chan is very nice and made sure i was educated before and after my sons frenectomy. Overall this was the best customer service i had ever experienced.

I've been taking my kids to this dentist office since they were toddlers. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. The front desk staff as well. They go over all treatment plans and insurance with you thoroughly. Customer service A+. The Dentists also spend time going over treatment plans with you and really include the parent(s) in every decision made throughout the process. They also do a great job working with the children and really try their best to keep them happy through everything. Of course, there are times that that could be impossible and they do great with letting the parents know the options they have. Nothing is forced or done without a decision made by the parent(s).
