Having survived being hit by a car as a pedestrian, I sustained multiple traumatic injuries, including a mandible that was broken in three places. I had jaw surgery immediately following the accident that entailed having my jaw wired shut for weeks. Despite this, the ability to open my mouth decreased to about 11 millimeters (1/2 inch). Luckily, I found Dr. Neugarten, who is truly a miracle worker - along with his staff - as we planned for double TMJ replacement. His words - "this is in my wheelhouse." No jaw wiring, only rubber bands. Everything he said and did was spot on in terms of the surgery itself and my recovery. After many weeks of physical therapy, I was able to open my mouth about 32 millimeters!!!! When I see Dr. Neugarten, I remind him that he gave me back the ability to eat and 20 pounds! Dr. Neugarten was great. He was very professional with how he handled himself and was very knowledgeable about his work. He took care of all of my questions that I asked. His staff was equally as professional and very polite. I am grateful I was recommended here, as my experience was great. I highly recommend Dr. Neugarten.

I had surgery with Dr. Neugarten on June 27th 2019 after meeting with him for the first time in November of 2018 and I have to say this whole process was the smoothest I've ever had with a surgery. Dr. Neugarten is absolutely amazing. As is his entire staff. Everyone is so knowledgeable and courteous and they treat you like you're apart of the family the whole way through. They work closely with your orthodontist to make sure things are going as planned and yes it's a little nerve wracking, it's surgery obviously. But If you are having a jaw surgery like I did do not fear because you are in good hands. It's 4 months post-OP for me now and I am back to eating and chewing and I'm back to normal besides still having braces. The braces are more annoying than the actual surgery. Dr. Neugarten and his staff will prepare you very well for pre and post op requirements. Just follow the papers and you'll be fine! If you are planning on getting a jaw surgery but aren't sure, just use my review as 100 recommendations. You will not regret it! I can never thank Dr. Neugarten and his staff enough for what they did for me. They will change your life like they did mine!

Had my double jaw reconstructive jaw surgery last August. I have made a full recovery and feel fantastic. Neugarten is one of the best orthognathic and maxillofacial surgeons in the world. He also has a great staff around him as well. I flew from Texas just to have my surgery there. I will be forever grateful for everything he did for me.

Had my double jaw reconstructive jaw surgery last August. I have made a full recovery and feel fantastic. Neugarten is one of the best orthognathic and maxillofacial surgeons in the world. It was something that got worse over time and it eventually affected my speech. When I went to the office, it was quite impressive. I went in being very nervous and timid, but everyone was so kind. There was no waiting time and I went right in for surgery. Before being put under for surgery, Dr. Neugarten kept me calm and relaxed the whole time. After this surgery, I can confidently say that it changed my life. I thought there would be a lengthy recovery, but I was back to myself in a matter of days. My speech is back to normal, and I am quite the foodie now. He is a life changer, and if you need any type of oral surgery, this is the guy for you. I am struggling college student not a wealthy New York City resident, but the entire surgery was worth every penny. Thank you so much Dr. Neugarten you were awesome!

Miracle Worker My son was born with a small airway that caused him to have severe obstructive sleep apnea since birth. As he grew, my son's sleep apnea worsened and other treatments such as having his adenoids and tonsils removed and having his epiglottis stitched up failed to improve his condition. We were referred to Dr. Neugarten by our ENT and were impressed from our first meeting with him and his team. My family spent several hours in consultation with Dr. Neugarten over multiple meetings and he made us feel comfortable. He took a LOT of time to answer each of our questions and to address our concerns. He won't necessarily tell you what you want to hear - he will tell you the truth and prepare you for what the procedure will entail, including recovery. Much more importantly, he made our son feel comfortable. Dr. Neugarten performed a surgery called mandibular distraction surgery that involves pulling the lower jaw forward in order to increase the diameter of the airway to fix the sleep apnea. Just thirteen days following surgery, a sleep study showed that our son's sleep apnea was 100% gone! The difference in lifestyle for our son is incredible - he has much more energy and is much less grouchy during the day. We have had numerous follow-ups with Dr. Neugarten and during each session he has made our son feel comfortable and at ease. If you are considering a serious dental/medical surgery, particularly if it is for a child, you MUST consider asking Dr. Neugarten to help you. The quality of life difference for our son has been immeasurable. Our family will always be grateful to Dr. Neugarten for what he did for us.
