Jason Oberhand D.D.S. graduated from Lehigh University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management. In 1998 he graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree.
Dr. Oberhand has served in the United States Air Force holding the rank of captain. He completed an Advanced Education in the General Dentistry Residency Program while in the Air Force, stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
He served 2 additional years of active duty in the Air Force at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas where he served as base officer in charge of preventive dentistry. Following his Air Force experience he worked in private practice in Hayville, Kansas for 1 year and in Bridgeport, CT for 8 years.
Dr. Oberhand is a member of the American Dental Association, The Connecticut State Dental Association, The Bridgeport Dental Association, and The Academy of General Dentistry. In 2014, Dr. Oberhand became a Fellow of the AGD and will receive his Mastership in the summer of 2016.the Academy of General Dentistry. He is an active lecturer of dental and oral health at local schools and senior citizen centers.
Replacing your toothbrush is an easy task, so much so that many people don't often think about doing it until it's been a significant amount of time. Here are three things you should know about replacing your toothbrush.
Bacteria builds up on your toothbrush daily; though it's a very small amount in relation to surfaces like the bathroom sink, bacteria does still build up. After about three to four months, your toothbrush is a bacteria playground.
Because of the bacterial buildup, it's suggested you replace your toothbrush every three to four months to avoid bad breath and tooth decay. If you don't replace your toothbrush regularly, it'll become less effective, potentially leading to dental illnesses.
The kind of toothbrush you use doesn't matter nearly as much as you think it may. So long as the American Dental Association approves it, it's an excellent toothbrush. Regular toothbrushes and battery-operated toothbrushes don't have a different cleaning ability either, so picking the right toothbrush boils down to which you'd prefer.

I've been going to Dr. Oberhand's office since Dr. Axelrod was practicing. I chipped a front tooth during my finals in college. He was able to squeeze me in within 2 hours and the repair has been solid for years now. I have had normal cleanings since then, but Dr. Oberhand recently did a small dental procedure, and Jessica cleaned my teeth. The office is clean, modern, and comfortable. The staff is professional and skilled. Highly recommend!

One of the most caring and personable people that I've met, the practice was impeccable the staff was fantastic and I could have not asked for a better person to deal with. I would recommend this practice to anyone, they were amazing and will never go anywhere else. They helped me when I needed it and went above and beyond after that.

Dr J & his staff are the best! My 6 yo had to have a baby tooth removed recently and I can't stop telling people about what an easy & painless experience it was! Highly recommend.

Finally a dentist I am feeling comfortable with. I have a huge fear of dentists but over the past few years my fear is improving. Staff is great and everyone is pleasant. Dr. Overhand is honest and cares and will explain what needs to be done. Highly recommend this office especially if you have a fear of dentists.

Always the best! We started with Dr Oberhand when we lived nearby. Then a few years ago we moved 40 minutes away and we still see Dr. O. I wouldn't consider changing dentists - worth the drive!

Long time patient, since he took over from Dr. Axelrod. Have had great service over the years. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Danielle is excellent in both her work and advice in my dental care. My fixed bridge that Dr. J installed has been excellent.

I've been coming to this dentist for over 10 years and it has always been a great experience. Little to no waiting time when you arrive on time for your appointment, the teeth cleaning is thorough yet it only takes about 30 minutes each time. They will do x-rays once a year, check your gums and tongue for cancer, and of course check for cavities, gingivitis, and any other oral issues. The staff is very friendly and the dentists always make sure you are comfortable throughout your visit. Dr. Jason Oberhand will come around after your cleaning to do an examination before you leave and he is always very friendly and thorough with his exams as well. Highly recommended
