Dr. Baldwin offers 3-D CT scanning to allow for more accuracy and efficiency. Dr. Baldwin is also a certified CEREC provider thereby offering a patient in need of a crown, inlay, or onlay to have a digital scan of the tooth done and a tooth created all in the same visit.

Dr. Jason Baldwin is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. In 2004 he joined the family practice in San Jose, CA, started by his father, Dr. Jay Baldwin. Dr. Baldwin continued his fathers legacy by building a state-of-the-art practice, specializing in advanced dental technology. Dr. Baldwin is reminded daily of his immense gratitude for the 15 years he practiced in the Bay Area and the amazing patients that entrusted him with their care.

In 2018, Dr. Baldwin and his family decided to fulfill their dream of living in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Since childhood, Dr. Baldwin has had a great appreciation and affection for Tahoe and its community. Dr. Baldwin has continued his interest and focus on science, healthcare, and leading-edge technology which he combines with his personalized patient care.

Dr. Baldwin is pleased to offer the latest technology, such as laser treatment for gum disease, teeth-in-a-day, and complex restorative dentistry. Dr. Baldwin is a Certified LANAP clinician and is certified by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD). Dr. Baldwin has extensive training in full mouth implant and reconstructive dentistry, and is a CEREC CAD-CAM practitioner, focusing his training on aesthetics and cosmetic dentistry.

Diagnostic Wax-Up: shows your new smile in its natural color and translucency. We also see how your new smile will improve any bite problems you may have. With the diagnostic model, you are empowered to preview, give suggestions, make changes, and approve your personal Smile Plan before any procedures are begun.

Soft Tissue Laser: periodontal therapy and cosmetic gum treatments can be performed with minimal pain and bleeding using dental lasers. It can also be used in conjunction with root planing deep cleaning around the teeth and root. Dr. Baldwin can also perform frenectomies to address tongue ties using a dental laser.

LANAP: Dr. Baldwin is one of few local dentists serving the Tahoe area who is certified in LANAP. This is a unique, minimally invasive surgery for treating moderate to severe gum disease and periodontitis. The LANAP protocol is a treatment for gum disease that uses a laser as an alternative to surgery, sutures, and downtime. The LANAP protocol gives the potential to stimulate the growth of damaged parts of the gum tissue and mouth, which includes the potential for growth of new bone, regeneration of gums, and destruction of longstanding bacteria and disease. The LANAP laser protocol is also highly effective at saving failing or compromised dental implants.

DIAGNOdent: this handheld tool is used for early detection and diagnosis of tooth decay. The DIAGNOdent also helps locate decay that may be hidden in the cracks and crevices of teeth for earlier, more conservative treatment.

iCAT Cone Beam CT scanner: used to evaluate and analyze high-priority anatomy for dental implant restorations and oral surgery in less than 15 minutes without leaving our facility. We are one of very few Tahoe area dentists with this in-office ability to take precision, cross-sectional slides of any needed area in the upper or lower jaws for accurate treatment planning.

The LANAP surgery is completed in 2 visits, each lasting about 2 hours. Using a local anesthetic or dental sedation, Dr. Baldwin will treat one side of the mouth during each session. If splints are placed to secure loose teeth, we will provide care instructions for oral hygiene and diet restrictions. Most patients will experience only minor discomfort on the first day and mild swelling or discoloration of treated gum tissue. A soft diet is often recommended during the first few days.
