Dr. Dastrup received his Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Arizona. During his time there, he was involved in surgical research, and gained appreciation for the valuable research that forms the foundation for today's healthcare practices.
Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska is where Dr. Dastrup received his dental training. The most unique aspect of his training was a focus on service to the community in the Jesuit tradition. During dental school, he utilized both his dental training and his ability to speak Spanish fluently, to serve as a supervisor in the local Indian-Chicano health clinic. Working closely with faculty from his Dental Program, he was instrumental in providing much needed services to many who did not have the resources to provide for themselves.
There are many of the surgical aspects of Dentistry that interests Dr. Dastrup. As a matter of fact, during dental school, he participated in a lengthy externship in Oral Surgery. Many patients are pleased to learn that he removes wisdom teeth and other teeth that require removal, and is skilled in placement of dental implants and bone grafting. In addition, Dr. Dastrup completes dozens of hours of continuing education courses yearly, in order to be up to speed on the latest techniques and technologies for treating you and your family. He also maintains memberships with professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the Colorado Dental Association.
Dr. Dastrup and his family love living here in Colorado Springs where they can enjoy the great weather for all kinds of outdoor activities. Dr. Dastrup loves to play volleyball and mountain bike. He is also involved with the boy scouts. He averages one campout per month with his son's troop, and even braved a few cold and snowy winter nights in our beautiful nearby mountains.
Amber has been a dental hygienist for 23 years and believes that the relationships with her patients have been the best part. Her hobbies are gardening, reading, bird watching, hiking and spending time with her family. She married her high school sweetheart and they have two children, one in college and the other in high school.
Heather has been working as an expanded duties dental assistant since 2004. She is dedicated to quality dental care. Heather has completed additional education in the study of aesthetics, specializing in a variety of techniques that provide the best for our patients. Heathers infectious laugh gives the office an upbeat atmosphere. Patients love her enthusiasm and the staff loves her helpful attitude and dedication. Heather and her husband are parents of two children. Her family loves vacationing, hiking, and watching their childrens sports events.
Judy is our Patient Coordinator. She is likely to be the one you meetas you walk through our doors or call the office. She has been in dentistry for over 20 years. Judy is originally from California and has lived in Colorado since 1993. She is married and has adult children, so now enjoying the empty nest season of life. She loves to see lives transformed by beautiful dentistry.
Kim has worked in the dental field for 20 years. She is married and has two married daughters and two wonderful grandchildren. Kim has a passion for helping people. She enjoys dentistry because of the people that she is able to serve within our wonderful team environment.
Sarah is a native of Colorado and graduated from the dental hygiene program at Pueblo Community College in 2002. That same year she joined our practice. She is married and has two daughters and a son. She enjoys being in the dental field because of the relationship she has built with her patients and the professional care shes able to give. Sarah enjoys the outdoors and watching her kids play sports.
Shannon joined Dr. Dastrups team in 2014. She was born and raised in Southwest Montana. Shannon attended college in Ashland, Oregon where she met her husband and together they have 5 kids. She moved to Colorado in 2001. She spends her free time cheering on the kids and husbands various sporting events. Shannon loves to travel and renew relationships with friends and family.
