It is with great relief that I write this letter to you. Dr. Jerry has always appreciated your trust, support, and loyalty with what he built here in Japantown and San Jose. His impact in the community and legacy he leaves with the dental practice he and his father, Dr. Thomas, have built could not have been done without you. With everything that has happened in the last few years, there have been a lot of changes and difficulties that I know have affected you. But after an extensive search, I am confident I have found the right successor to continue the legacy, community involvement, and most importantly provide the high level of care and service that you are accustomed to in Dr. Alexander H. Mendoza.
Dr. Alex was born and grew up here in San Jose and even participated in some of the events and festivals Japantown holds. He received his DDS from the prestigious University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni Dental School in San Francisco. During dental school, he was selected to participate in mission trips in other countries and to be a part of the advanced oral surgery clinic. Aside from his clinical excellence, he also took on an active role as a leader of the American Dental Student Association where he represented California dental students to the national organization. After graduating, he practiced with highly recognized doctors in San Francisco, honing his skill set before moving back to San Jose. Dr. Alex has broad exposure in general dentistry procedures and training in implant restorations, Invisalign, root canals, oral surgery, and smile design. He is knowledgeable on all the latest techniques and materials in dentistry and constantly educates himself on new procedures and equipment.
I have been utterly impressed with his mission and drive to continue the legacy and atmosphere that Dr. Jerry created. Dr. Ueno also views Dr. Alex as the perfect fit for Japantown Dental and knows her peer will always make the patient his number one priority. With Dr. Ueno no longer practicing, she takes comfort in knowing that the patients trust and health are in the hands of Dr. Alex, who she trusts and fully endorses to be your dentist at Japantown Dental. The whole team you have come to know at Japantown Dental will remain and be there to work alongside Dr. Alex. I unequivocally support and trust Dr. Alex, along with Dr. Stephani Ueno, Liz, Shirley, and the rest of the team you have come to know, to continue to provide you and your family the excellent dental care you deserve. We all hope you will welcome Dr. Alex and encourage you to meet him and get to know him.

Dr. Mendoza listens to his patient's concerns and presents alternatives to solve my long term teeth issues. He was willing to talk to my family so all were onboard to the final decision for plan to fix teeth.

Kathy was super nice when she called to follow up on my appointment request and was even able to get my appointment moved up to a week earlier. The hygienist and dentist were also very quick and friendly and I would say I was in and out of there within 45 minutes.

I have been to many dentists and had many procedures and Dr Mendoza is one of the kindest. He's patient, takes the time to check in with you prior to starting work, during and after he takes time to chat through any issues and questions.

Receptionists gave out terrible customer services, negative vibe. The female one is so-so, the male one is terrible. Chaotic & filled in wrong name for appointment scheduling even though emails were sent out at first place.

My previous dentist passed on, but I decided to remain with Dr. Mendoza and I have been very happy with my decision. Everything remains the same, as in attentive and personable, except with a younger staff and more up to date techniques.

Dr. Mendoza has magic fingers or magic wrists or magic hand-eye coordination or perhaps all three. I can't help but wonder if he ever played baseball. I can imagine that he might have been a MLB starting pitcher with the physical attributes that his dentistry wizardry demonstrates. Major League starting pitchers sign multi-million dollar contracts and only have to work once every five days. But then my teeth wouldn't feel quite as good as they do either so perhaps it is just as well that he is a dentist. I consider myself very lucky from a dental perspective to have gone from Dr. Jerrold Hiura to Dr. Alex Mendoza. I can't say anything better than that. In addition the Japantown Dental Center Office is only a few hundred feet in a straight line from my front yard. On a good day in my youth I may have been able to throw a baseball on a fly from my front yard into the parking lot of the Japantown Dental Center or at least on one or two hops. Dr. Mendoza is top-notch I am lucky enough to report.
