Karen Vaccaro is a dental hygienist with many years of experience in general, pediatric, and periodontal dentistry. She graduated from West Liberty University with a BS in dental hygiene. Karen is a member of the ADHA and the Dental Hygiene Health ALLIANCE. Karen enjoys temping in a variety of office in Montgomery and Bucks County. As a hygienist her focus is oral care, making true connections with each patient and targeting biofilm that can be detrimental to a patient's overall health. Her goal is to make an impactful difference in patients' lives.

The team at Jamison Innovative Dentistry believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.

It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

Understanding the importance of these regular dental exams, the staff at Jamison Innovative Dentistry work to make each patient extremely comfortable. This includes being welcoming and kind while performing dental treatments in a way that is painless and relaxing. Patients visit our dentist office because they trust us to do just that take care of their teeth and gums, gently. The majority of our patients are local and come from the greater Jamison area, we also see patients that are looking for gentle dental care.

Seniors, on the other hand, often struggle with gum disease and oral infections. As people age, their teeth can become weaker and infected more easily. Bone loss is incredibly common with seniors and by conducting regular dental exams, the team at Jamison Innovative Dentistry can help seniors to have strong teeth and reduce the risk of them falling out. Since over seventy percent of U.S. adults suffer from tooth loss, preventative care is important.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.

A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.

A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.

A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.

A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.

A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

A family dentist specializes in treating patients of all ages with the same level of comfort and care. When it comes to seeking professional dental care for your family, having to drive to multiple locations is the last thing you want to do. As a family dentist, we understand this and can provide treatment to patients

A family dentist is a general dentist who cares for patients of varying ages. The care and services that they offer cater to both young and old patients, which makes them a versatile resource for entire families to utilize. Keep reading to find out why to visit a family dentist.Outlined below are a couple of

While many parents remind their children and ensure that they brush their teeth on a regular basis, children need professional dental care at a dentist. Along with specialized care toward children, there are also other steps parents can take to ensure their children have healthy teeth. As a family dentist, we suggest taking the following

Don't continue with dental pain each day, visit our office and receive the necessary care as soon as possible. When a dental emergency strikes, you need prompt and immediate dental care. Waiting too long can cause the oral health issue or damage to only get worse. Whether it is an infection, chipped tooth, or an empty

If you live in Jamison or the local area, you can benefit from a teeth whitening procedure at our local dental office. At Jamison Innovative Dentistry, we are known for improving the appearance of our patients' smiles. We are a cosmetic dentist and has multiple ways for doing so. We often recommend a teeth bleaching procedure because it is by far the easiest way to transform your smile. After cleaning your teeth, we can complete this procedure in time for a special event or as part of your regular oral health routine.

People have their teeth whitened on a regular basis so that they can look and feel great. As people age, it is common for teeth to become dull and yellow. This is in part due to age itself and also due to what a person eats and drinks. Drinking coffee, tea and wine, for example, can stain your teeth. Smoking and eating foods that contain food coloring can also stain your teeth. Brushing immediately after eating and drinking can help to prevent stains but is typically not enough to remove the risk entirely. Fortunately, stained and yellow teeth don't have to stay that way.

There are several types of teeth bleaching that you can try. People typically start by using whitening toothpaste at home. This can help to brighten your teeth but is typically not enough to actually whiten them. We recommend toothpaste as part of an overall teeth whitening treatment but not by itself. After professional whitening, the toothpaste can help your teeth stay bright.

Many people may try over the counter solutions like whitening trays or strips. These treatments work but not as well as professional solutions. As with most things, what you buy in the store is simply not as strong as what you can get from a medical professional. Additionally, store bought whitening trays are designed to fit everyone's teeth, not your teeth specifically. This means that they can become loose, and the solution can leak, leading to gum irritation.

In our dental office, we also recommend whitening trays. This type of procedure is effective and puts patients in control over how white their teeth become and how often they are whitened. We start by taking an impression of a patient's teeth. We then use this impression to create customized whitening trays in a dental lab. They fit securely around teeth and will not leak solution into the mouth. This is an ideal way for patients to whiten teeth because once they are created, they can be used at any time. Patients are provided with a whitening solution to use at home, and the trays need to be worn for a couple of hours every night for a week or more. Once teeth have reached the perfect shade of white, a patient can stop wearing the trays. This portable solution can be taken anywhere, making it possible for people to whiten teeth while on vacation, business trips or after moving to a new city.

When a whitening solution is applied to the teeth, the hydrogen peroxide inside of the solution penetrates through the enamel. It then starts the oxidation process where molecules are transformed to reflect less or no light. This makes them appear colorless, and teeth appear white. This process is typically extremely effective for eliminating stains and can be repeated frequently.

On occasion, the stains are too strong for a teeth bleaching procedure to work. When this happens, we can provide an alternative treatment. For example, patients in Jamison can have dental veneers placed on the surface of teeth in order to cover dark stains. This is often preferable for patients that smoke since veneers are stain resistant and won't yellow quickly like natural teeth. Still, it is wise to try a teeth whitening procedure first, before starting a cosmetic one.

At Jamison Innovative Dentistry, we also recommend that patients have their teeth whitened before having other dental procedures completed. Most of the materials that are used in dental restorations or for cosmetic purposes are stain resistant and bleach resistant. For example, a dental crown won't stain or bleach but should maintain its initial coloring with time. When a crown, veneer, bridge, or implant is created in a dental lab, they are created to match the shade of the surrounding teeth. If the surrounding teeth are yellow, these restorations will be created in a yellow shade. If the surrounding teeth are a brilliant white, the restoration will be as well. This makes the timing of teeth whitening procedures important. If you live in the Jamison area and are interested in a dental restoration, schedule your teeth whitening procedure first.

A. Sensitivity from tooth whitening is always transient. If there is any sensitivity caused by the whitening, it goes away within one to two days after the treatment, and the patient returns to the state of sensitivity he or she had prior to starting the whitening process.

A. Typically you can expect whitening to last from six months to two years, although some studies report results lasting up to 10 years. Avoiding red wine, coffee, and smokingall of which can cause staininghelps preserve the results.

A. Tooth whitening has little or no effect on restorative materials such as porcelain or crowns, but it may temporarily reduce the bond strength between enamel and composite restorations. This is why it is a good idea to check with your dental professional before beginning any course of tooth whitening.

A. Products developed from carbamide peroxide, hydrogen peroxide, and urea (substances found in every human cell), should be used cautiously to alleviate concern. Those who have issues are the ones who don't follow instructions and overuse the products for months or years.

Teeth whitening is a popular dental treatment that helps patients turn back the clock, undo stains, create a brighter smile, raise confidence, and more. Since brushing and flossing do not seem to improve the overall shade of teeth, whitening solutions are becoming more and more popular.Yet, store-bought solutions do not seem to have a substantial

Teeth whitening can brighten one's smile, brighten one's day, and brighten up one's life.If you're looking for an effective way to whiten your teeth and brighten your smile, then we can help. With professional teeth whitening, we can provide experienced guidance on how to get the most out of your teeth whitening procedure. We can

Dr Vinita, Regan and Terri are an awesome trio. Very welcoming atmosphere (necessary for those of us that are a little nervous of a dentist trip). Clearly explained what the appointment plan would be, outlining short, medium and long term goals along the way which helps you settle in. You know what to expect. Very clean and well cared for practice. Terri outlines costs very well and every one was masked up and pandemic conscious. I highly recommend Dr Vinita and her team if you are looking for a professional, well explained and calm experience. I have lived in multiple countries and this has been my best dental experience yet. 1. Parking and access to the clinic for our older folks - very easy. Seating in the waiting room spread out and access to clinic rooms is a short walk. You will be taken care of by these lovely people. 2. Treatment explanations were clear, not aggressive or pushy at all. Encouraging and communicated well throughout the treatment time. 3. Payment outlined well. Next appointment flexible with times and dates. 4. I submitted an overall rating of 5 for all the extra little things that came with my experience at this practice that some dentists struggle to deliver (like a moody and rude receptionist, poor access, hostility regarding treatment plans). You won't experience that here.
