Dr. James Van Sicklen practices a full variety of family dentistry ranging from cosmetic to complex restorative procedures. Dr. Van Sicklen believes that the key to quality care is communication and a humanistic approach to treating patients. Much of your first visit will be spent explaining your individual treatment and getting to know you. This humanistic approach allows us to provide the highest quality of care while understanding your needs and concerns. Many of our patients are considered dear friends and we hope to welcome you to our practice.
James Van Sicklen, Jr., DDS, is a family and cosmetic dentist who has provided expert dental care to the Stockton, California, community for more than 30 years. Dr. Van Sicklen, who also goes by Dr. V, Dr. Jim, or simply Doc, is an active member of the San Joaquin Dental Society, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. His focus with all three is meeting planning and continuing education.
Dr. Van Sicklen graduated from the University of the Pacific in Stockton in 1975 and continued his studies at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, earning his degree in 1980.
Since then, Dr. Van Sicklen has offered his patients in Stockton and around San Joaquin County professional and comprehensive cosmetic and restorative dental care. His insight into the region helps him better understand his patients, and hes developed long-lasting relationships with many of them.
Dr. Van Sicklen, who also goes by Dr. V, Dr. Jim, or simply Doc, is an active member of the San Joaquin Dental Society, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. His focus with all three is meeting planning and continuing education.

I have been going to Dr. Van Sicklen for over 20 years (since childhood) and everyone at the office is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Dr. Van Sicklen is an excellent dentist and I highly recommend his service if you are looking for a local dentist in San Joaquin county, or even if you are out of town. I've never had a failed tooth filling, and my teeth have stayed in great shape thanks to him and Kellie, who is my dental hygienist. I look forward to many more years of their business!

I have been with Dds Van Sicklen for over 20 years. Best dentist I've ever had. He truly cares for his patients. His staff is excellent, caring, and professional. His staff has also been with him for as long as I can remember as well. Their longevity with him must mean that he is a great person to work for. The brightest plus is now his son is there as well. Which means to me that this office is well established and is here for the duration.

Dr. James and Charles Van Sicken are two of the GREATEST Dentists and Oral Doctors of all time. Their education, professionalism, and demeanor/manner in culmination with hygenists and assistants make this a hidden gem in all if Stockton. Don't shortchange your oral health and subject yourself to undue pain when getting your teeth cared for! Dr. Van Sicklen(s) are the only dentists to go to here in Stockton!

I am a new patient and one with high anxiety regarding past dental nightmares. I have never felt more comfortable with any dentist I have been to. I had a huge sigh of relief after my visit today. Dr. James Van Sicklen, assistant Cindy, along with the other staff were very warm and compassionate. After avoiding dentists for two decades due to my past traumas- I feel moving forward I will be receiving great care providing me to have better oral hygiene and health which fills me with great confidence. In addition, this office was clean, organized and prompt. I will definitely be referring friends and family in the future.
