Sweet Marley is our French Bulldog and a Therapy Dog in Training. Many studies show spending time with animals has mental and physical benefits. Therapy dogs are known to decrease stress, anxiety, blood pressure and heart rate, as well as elevate mood and a patients perceived comfort level. We have seen first hand how Marley comforts our patients andprovides an excellent source of TLC. Marley is definitely the team member everyone looks forward to seeing, and we are ok with that!

As a business owner, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and mentor, Dr. Guthrie strives to achieve a work-home balance while providing personalized dental care and community outreach as she cares for her patients smiles and overall dental health.

Dr. Guthrie earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at VCU in 2004. Following her residency, she worked as an associate general dentist for 4 years and then purchased James River Family Dentistry in 2008.

Jessica is our amazing Business Manager , who also happens to be Dr. Guthries sister. She loves interacting with patients, building relationships and watching the young kids grow into young adults. Jessica enjoys movies with friends, trying new restaurants, reading and going to the pool.

When Sherri started in 1997 she had no idea how life changing dentistry could be. Serving as our Practice Manager, she loves the opportunity to meet patients and watch their story change through dentistry. She understands patients concerns and insecurities as she has had dental work done and has been in their position. Outside of the office, Sherri enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She and her husband love riding their motorcycle and camping with friends.

Our registered dental hygienist, Ally believes in treating people, not just teeth. She not only cleans teeth, but she cares about our patients and making sure they have the best dental health possible. There is nothing I love more than seeing a huge smile on a patients face when he or she sees how much progress has been made after a thorough cleaning and changing home care routines. Married to her high school sweetheart, Ally enjoys rock climbing, hiking and going to craft breweries.

Our registered dental hygienist Katey, knew early on in life that the dental field was the right profession for her. She loves cosmetic dentistry and watching the patients reaction to the results. Katey is passionate about the transformation of a diseased mouth into a healthy mouth. Katey loves traveling to different countries and experiencing different cultures. She enjoys going to breweries and wineries and spending time with her two pugs.

Our awesome dental assistant, Alison, genuinely loves making people smile. Alison is passionate about helping people achieve a beautiful and confident smile and she especially loves working with children. Her special areas of interest include pediatric dentistry, sedation and outpatient surgical procedures. She values the patient relationships that are built over time and she loves making each persons dental experience as pleasant as possible. Alison spends her free time with her fantastic husband, two daughters and super cute puppy.

Marley, a beautiful blue French Bulldog, is our newest team member and Therapy Dog in Training. In meeting Marley for the first time, he instantly greeted us and sat calmly on our laps while all the other puppies ran around. It was love at first sight! Marley loves greeting our patients at the door and meeting our new patients. He is sure to put a big smile on your face at your next visit! Marley looks forward to meeting you soon!
