Prosthodontics requires 34 additional years of specialized training at an accredited dental school or medical school after graduation from dental school. Michael Drone, DDS has two post-graduate dental specialty degrees, prosthodontics and maxillofacial prosthetics, from Indiana University School of Dentistry and Medicine. As a prosthodontist, Michael Drone, DDS practices a full scope of prosthodontic procedures with expertise ranging from dental implants, cosmetic/aesthetic dentistry and dentures, to restorative dentistry. Since 2007, Michael Drone, DDS has been actively involved in providing his knowledge and expertise to The Northwest Indiana Dental Study Clubs, dentists, dental specialists and physicians.
Our staff is CPR certified, x-ray certified and our dental assistants are also expanded duties certified. Dentistry is ever-changing and our staff attends continuing education courses to learn about the safest and newest dental techniques and technologies used to provide the best dental care for our patients.

A dental implant is an ideal tooth restoration for people who are missing one or more teeth for reasons like injury or periodontal disease. After a titanium implant is placed, the restoration is completed by a custom abutment and crown.
Implants are typically no more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement. They are also considered a more conservative approach as they do not require any irreversible procedures to adjacent teeth. Because of this, they are a more favorable approach than bridgework.
Implants require healthy gums and adequate bone. A patient must also be committed to excellent oral hygiene and regular dental visits, as these are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
An implant-supported denture is used when a patient no longer has teeth remaining in their mouth but enough bone in their jaw to support implants. Implant-supported dentures snap into place on top of implants but can be removed for cleaning.

I had been a patient of Dr. Lipton,DDS for a number of years so I was wary when I learned he was selling his practice as my dental journey has been a complicated one. Well, from my first visit with Dr. Drone, DDS, who bought the practice, all my fears dissolved. Dr. Drone and his team are AMAZING and do AMAZING work! Dr. Drone is compassionate and so intelligent using the latest technology available. If you have gotten crowns in the past you will be SO relieved with the digital process of this office! No uncomfortable impressions need to be taken because they take a digital scan of the inside of your mouth with a small scanner placed inside your mouth. The fit of the crowns is seamless! Ultimately, I am SO thankful Dr. Drone bought the practice because my dental care has definitely been taken to the next level as Dr.Drone has advanced schooling and training; he uses the latest digital technology. Whether you were a patient of Dr.Lipton or not, I encourage you to go to Dr. Drone and his team! I am SO thankful I do!

I love the new office! It looks amazing and clearly quite a bit of thought went into this overhaul. State of the art technology included! The atmosphere is really inviting and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. My hygienist was fantastic and very informative. Of course I will be back and hopefully a lifelong patient of Highland Dental Studio. Thank you.

My first experience with Highland Dental Studio consisted of walking up to the door that displayed a sign from the town of Highland informing that it had been shut down for failure to acquire permits. The office staff had not even disclosed that until the last minute when they would call to confirm an appointment and send patients to a borrowed/shared periodontist practice, ten minutes away... Very misleading! It was closed for many months! Google reviews that support the 4.9 Stars are mostly about Dr. Lipton and include the service of Board Certified Dental Sleep Medicine which is NOT offered at this Practice. The website is just as misleading because it shows only Dr. Drone under Meet the Doctor and not the- new- less experienced associate. The only Hygienist that is listed on the website doesn't even work here and the front desk people told me she "retired". I am doing a project in Valpo. presently and have learned that Dr. Drone spends most of his time at his office there. And I see that two current Google reviews are written by what seem to be, his employees. If there are new hygienists at this practice, it would be helpful to put them on the website and list a bio. Listing the actual hours that Dr. Drone works at this office would also be helpful. Adding the associate's credentials, and Bio, as well as the hours of availability would also be helpful, since this IS not a Single-Provider Dental Office anymore. The only assistant that is listed on the website no longer works at this dental office either! All said, the 4.9 star review rating was the most misleading part of this whole mess! Proceed with caution. (Bait and Switch)

I have been a patient of Highland Dental Studio since May of 2021. Upon my recent return, I was amazed to walk into such a modern, state-of-the-art newly remodeled office. What a transformation! From the moment I arrived, the ladies in the front office were so warm and welcoming. Dr. Gariup did a very thorough exam. He then put my x-rays on a large TV screen on the wall in front of me, and he reviewed all of them with me prior to starting my treatment which really put me at ease. Dr. Gariup is very knowledgeable and was great at explaining everything to me. I have always had anxiety about getting dental work done on my teeth, and Dr. Gariup was so understanding. He definitely made me feel comfortable. My hygienist, Susan, was very friendly and full of knowledge. I was impressed with all of the newest technology used in educating me about my teeth and gums. My hygiene visit with Susan was literally the best cleaning I have ever had. She is amazing! Highland Dental Studio provided outstanding care. I will be referring all of my family and friends.

I am a dental hygienist here. I have worked for Dr. Drone since 2017 in his Valparaiso location and now here in Highland. I had my teeth cleaned today and Susan did an AMAZING job! I wouldn't want to be a patient or work anywhere else. The dental work and experience is like no other.

Not happy went to Highland dental studio for a cleaning, and x-rays. Never been there before was told I had 9 cavities and would have to pay up front for filings and wait for a check from insurance. Went today to my old dentist in Illinois I have two cavities and left without paying a dime don't use this guy. My wife and son also went there between the 3 of us he wanted to do about 7,000 dollars worth of work.

Dr. Lipton is unprofessional, rude, and insulting to his patients. I really do believe that most of the previous reviews are fake. Do not go to this office. This man is also a liar. My husband had a credit on his account and was told that he would be issued a check. Well a few months went by and he never recieved the check. I called the office and spoke to a receptionist who told me that she would review the account. She called me back and told me that Dr. Lipton told her that he mailed a personal check to my husband 2 months before my phone call. The receptionist also stated that Dr. Lipton told her that the check had been cashed because he checked his bank statement. My husband never recieved or cashed a check from Dr. Lipton so we contacted the authorities. To make a long story short the office ended up admitting that Dr. Lipton never sent a personal check to my husband. IT WAS ALL A LIE! I believe his front desk staff were in on the lie as well. This is a terrible office.

The staff was nice and tried to help me relax as I am scared to go to the dentist. The dentist was nice, had a good bedside manner. They made me very comfortable. They also were very knowledgeable about there jobs. I highly recommend anyone to choose this practice for their dental needs.
